Impressive numbers. 3.8 0-60 and the 1/4 in 12.3 @115. On the RB scale, I guess that qualifies as only marginally unsafe for road usage?

Seriously, that's what gives me pause about the 540i and the GTS- they aren't even high 12 second cars- I hate to take a retrograde step and buy something slower than what I already have. At least on the G30 I can put a Dinan piggyback or a MPPSK on it.

Funny. Almost as soon as my offer expired, I got a message from carvana saying they are no longer purchasing vehicles because they have no more space.

Yikes! Interesting times we live in. I do think that it may be longer than a few months before we return to normalcy. For a homebody like me, things aren't that different now, other than some of my favorite bars/restaurants being closed.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,356
Corvette, that is how it is for us. We don't go out much, mostly running errands here and there, dinner out Friday, and often stop at a brewery for a tasting on the weekend. So pretty much just staying in one more night (going with the take out option at least so it seems special!) and a bit more boring Saturday.

I am FT WFH, but the wife was in the office 4 days a week prior so it is different, but for a while she was WFH too before her current position. so not a radical difference.

timing was not all that good for us travelling though. we had a few weekends away in the March-May range, and Easter up in NY state. All scrapped. On the flip side, will be saving a lot of money not paying for it all. A boring homebody life is pretty economical at least. If you can stay away from the Amazon account.

somehow I am not surprised. I did not look too close earlier when I ran my car but I don't recall seeing a message that they weren't buying. They even sent me the Email reminder asking if I was going to finish up and accept.

So either need to wait until the country opens up again, or take a risk and snag a really cheap lease and have them both temporarily. And hope when the time comes, you can unload the Ioniq without taking a loss. Or just take a loss and call it the cost of doing business.

I saw multiple ads this morning from major car makers offering 0% for 84 months and 180 days of deferred payments. Looks like panic time.

Received a letter from US Bank, asking me to call someone in the lease department, if I was interested in purchasing the Tacoma at lease end (3 months left). Stated rates possibly as low as 1.05% APR.

Isn’t the residual on the Tacoma something like 80%? That would be a no from me, unless they were willing to negotiate the buyout.

Deferred payments are really nice since no interest accruing at 0%. If they are fire asking prices too would certainly tempt me if I needed a car.

But as noted, if you have one to trade in, going to offset the savings.

    Yes, 82% residual after 36/12 lease. :o

I'd have to look it up, but it's somewhere around $30K, I think.

If I actually needed the truck, I'd consider it around $25K with cheap financing. But, I don't need it, and my son can't afford a $500/mo. payment. Five managers where he works, and two of them just got let go.

My guess is US Bank (and others) would consider negotiating right now just to avoid having the cars stack up during this mess.

I can't imagine them not negotiating buyouts right now. Offering the low financing right off the bat tells you that they are ready to deal.

Having said that... In all reality by the time you figure it all out you are probably still in the black by just leasing another one at similar terms.

As this drags on, not sure how easy that will be. But I guess Rodo is the model dealers are following. Do everything online then drop the car in the driveway.

I believe with interest rates falling, sales dropping, and unemployment skyrocketing that there will be deals to be had.

Models that leased well before this will be steals.

You know there will be plenty of factory to dealer money too.

Dang @qbrozen - that stinks that it couldn't come together with Carvana and Hyundai.

@rayainsw - I have a feeling you're m340i will be the first of several on this board. Quite the car.

I have to admit I'm enjoying the casual nature of working from home for the time being. My wife and I work together anyway, so working in close proximity is nothing new. We set up a secondary office in our basement so we each have working space. She jokes that it's the first time we've worked on separate floors since we met!

Maybe, not more than that Audi, and that Land Cruiser. It’s a ‘79, and has some rust. As I was taking the pictures, the owner was in his driveway and asked if I wanted to buy it. I could hear my wife’s eyes rolling from across the street.

Told him I wasn’t interested, but was curious as to what he thought it was worth. He thinks $15K-$20K in current condition. He’s had it 13 years, and he says he had offers of $25K a few years back, when it was in better condition.

It definitely has a lift kit to go with those big tires. If I only had a 4-car garage..

I liked those, even though the interior was kinda tight. Just wish he 200H CT's had driven a bit better as I'd probably have one in the garage right now. We drove about 6 of them and all were loud in the lower rpm range and when accelerating. Wife noticed it to though was probably just the way they drove. Still see plenty on the road down here and a few Lexus dealers have used one's with miles in the 20's to 30's right now. Looked at one on my birthday last November but just wasn't the right color combo. If it were, not sure if I'd have held out on it!

Us too. There's usually an informal group walk after church and we do a 4 mile "around the block" walk. No church last week and there were a record 20 walkers, kind of spread out, but not too formally distant. Yesterday, there were only 6 and we were all seriously 6' apart.
At Home Depot today, this lady and this register worker both dawdled and took an incompetently absurdly long time to process and ring up her basket of items. She had about 15 items, and you'd of thought she bought 150 items. Wasn't paying that much close attention to it, but I did notice the absurd amount of time that was being wasted.

Needless to say, by the end of this ordeal when the lady was finally paying up, the entire line was guilty of "tailgating" and invading everyone's 6' space, including hers, and she had the gall to call us all out on it!..... all due to the absurdly slow service this one customer and cashier managed to provide!

I think people are afraid if you stay 6 feet apart someone will crowd in front of youL. Because in the past someone would have. Hard to overcome. Helps if the store management provides guidance.

stopped at BJs this afternoon (and of course they were out of a couple things I really needed) and they had the front end set up like that. One long line up the center aisle, and closer in they had cones and yellow tape on the floor showing how to space. Then up by the registers an employee held you until a register was opening up, then you went to that tape and waited for it to be free. and before you went up, another guy went and wiped down the screens and keypad.

different, but done right, it really does not take any more time (or at least not enough to matter),

I picked up a clicklist order at this store last month but I suppose the exposure risk is the same at other stores too. Unless there is a lack of compliance with CDC guidelines at some stores. Back in January there were coronavirus news reports stating, "the cat is already out of the bag."

I struck out on a few things and the daughter had to get back for work (plus she was afraid being out in the germy store!) so could not stop at aldi's too. So will work up my nerve in the AM and hit Produce Junction for veggies, and Aldis for the rest.

planning the trip is like putting together the raid on Entebbe. when to go, scouting on how crowded the parking lot is, bringing a wipe from the car to touch up the cart, working the aisles around other people. Frankly it is tiring.

Walgreen's had the tape on the floor too. Ran out for a propane exchange and a few snacks for the kids.

Store was barely in stock on paper towels and TP. One variety of each, maybe 20 units. 20' Gondola section with only 8' filled. TP was bulk stacked (well an anemic bulk) in front.

We are in stock of both so didn't get any.

Debating when to grocery shop. We have enough to get into the middle of next week easy, but out of a few things. Maybe Monday or Tuesday morning.

BJs had plenty of TP. we actually do not need it either, so I did not spend $30 on 36 rolls of Charmin. They also had a lot paper towels too.

but the one thing I really needed (a tub of spring mix of lettuce) was wiped out.

Using the pantry and frozen stuff now. Will worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. If people relax and not hoard, we'll be just fine. I know we have tp & paper towels as I got some on Friday nite from someone on a website I frequent. Was charging what the stores were charging so I said sure. With only two of us here, it goes much slower. Paid $1.89 for regular last nite at Cumberland Farms as I've got a fleet card. But my full tank now will last me a good month going forward. My doc is doing Mondays appointment using Facetime and then sending my scripts over to my local Walgreens for pick-up. So, as seamless as possible right now.
Besides that, we're good. A bit tired of watching the tube so tomorrow, finally going to move my kids small bookshelf out of my "office", his old room, and put my new table and lamp I got online. Really want to put a recliner in there but have nowhere else to put the queen bed, so the table/lamp combo will have to do for now.

That tp I got at that Latin store, the 12 roll limit, scratchy one ply stuff. Not what we're used to, the Walgreen store brand, but when in need, it'll have to do! Figure we'll use the cheap stuff when all the rest is gone but finding out first hand, there really is a difference out there!
Publix had no chicken yesterday for some odd reason. Got some good steaks but ran out of broiling pans to make them in. Found a smaller broiling unit from our toaster oven and it did the trick. Still living on our Stouffer entrees today and gonna have some soup tomorrow. If I get to the store, want to get some more canned foods I can make in a pot plus some hot dogs if they've restocked that section as the other day, basically bare. This nonsense has to stop so we can at least get back to some normalcy in this department!! Nothing helps another person like a good tasty meal, no matter what it is. Canned foods aren't the best but, until other products get re-stocked to normal levels again, I'll use them. It's all about nurishment right now, but soon, think the shelves shall be re-stocked like normal.
Once most things are open again, we can get back to normal and get a haircut or get one's teeth cleaned without having to worry. Think going forward, many will no longer take the simple things for granted no more. Things like stocked supermarket shelves, eating out at a nice restaurant, just walking in the mall to window shop. The little stuff we've always taken for granted. Happens every time we have a hurricane down here and lose power for a bit. Once it comes back, we're just so grateful just to have it back again. All those little things in life we never notice because they're always there when we need them. It'll be like a "new normal" for many and we'll never look at certain things the same way again!
It'll happen and if it does by Passover has come and gone, so be it but not going o get hung up by a date that might pass us by before things get better. I learned one big lesson these past few months, never put a time frame on anything in life because there are always things that we can not control, those little variables like this new Co-Vid 19 thing. Still want to stay positive but just want base it on things I have no control over. But am still optimistic just the same and will be happy to never go this again! Like so many out there, I still have lots of stuff I want to do before the lights totally go out!

Looked on Gas Buddies today and saw some really low prices in other parts of the United States. Paid $1.89 last night for a gallon of regular and I was so frickin' happy! I even saw it going for $.99 in other parts of the U S, frickin' incredible!! Wouldn't mind seeing it go down to like a $1.75 or so in the near future. With all this stayin' in the house or keeping a "social distance" from others is starting o get to me. Am sure there are others like me that just need to get behind the wheel already and put "my metal to the pedal"! Just to take a short road trip would be super cool right now to get away from seeing or hearing any more depressing virus news! I'm just not used to staying home as much as we are now to be honest. Just getting behind the wheel relaxes me and putting my XM radio is just what I need right now. I just want to go back to work so badly. But am blessed as I have a job I really like doing, like getting up early to go to. A big reason why I went back in early 2013. It's plain fun for me to get behind the wheel of a newish or new vehicle and have someone else pay for the gas. How cool is that and even cooler is to get paid to do it! The others on our crew laugh at me because 9 times out of 10 lately, I've been the first volunteer to do or go anywhere. I probably would've worked those two weeks straight if they had asked us to come in that Monday! Got paid for 118 hours on my last paycheck which was pretty cool actually, most I've done at this new gig. And from what we've been told, there's gonna be unlimited hours when we return just to get all vehicles back into their perspective pipelines. And ya know what, I'll be there for at least six out of the seven days if I'm feeling well enough! And think a few of the others will do the same. Do like at least my Mondays off to be honest as some things we just need to get done. But my bosses know, once we open those doors again, I'll be first in line!!

On my way to work I dropped in to Kroger about an hour after it opened. Tons of oldsters there, and none willing to sort out the fiendishly complex self check out lanes- cashier lanes were all 4-5 carts deep. I grabbed a six pack of paper towels(we were down to one roll) and went though self checkout. I was in and out in under four minutes. Luckily all the geezers were in line and not in their cars, so I was out of the lot in 10 seconds rather than 10 minutes...

Most of the shelter in place rules limit movement for non-essential activities. I'm sure I could say I was out on an errand, but would be hard to justify if I was 50 miles from home and was stopped.

I really don't think they'll turn you into a serious National investigation.

No punches for me for a while. Dealers and other non-essential businesses are closed in my state beginning tomorrow at 8 PM.

I wonder if they can still do any business at all? I can’t imagine them having to pay all those floor plan expenses while their inventory keeps losing value. There could be millions involved for the big dealers.

I believe they can still do business so long as the showroom is closed. It will still hurts them a lot, though.
There's a certain Kia dealership that deserves all the hurt they can get. :open_mouth: I feel like my negative reviews just increased in weight with the economy going south. Serves them right.

Someone on LH just posted that his bank said he has to keep it and pay the monthly until the return center is able to re-open.

That doesn’t pass the smell test. At least as far as them being able to collect additional money.
I agree. Smells like the equivalent of a Hotel closing its lobby for a week and telling you that you owe them for 7 extra nights whether you like it or not (or stayed or not).
