If you initiate the sale, I think that buys you more time, as your are given a large window in which to have them "pick up" the vehicle by appointment.

Finding my sleep pattern is all screwy now. Sleeping later in the morning which means going in later at night. The whole thing is crazy and affecting so many of us to be honest. I just want it all done now!!

At Home Depot today, this lady and this register worker both dawdled and took an incompetently absurdly long time to process and ring up her basket of items. She had about 15 items, and you'd of thought she bought 150 items. Wasn't paying that much close attention to it, but I did notice the absurd amount of time that was being wasted.

Needless to say, by the end of this ordeal when the lady was finally paying up, the entire line was guilty of "tailgating" and invading everyone's 6' space, including hers, and she had the gall to call us all out on it!..... all due to the absurdly slow service this one customer and cashier managed to provide!

Looked on Gas Buddies today and saw some really low prices in other parts of the United States. Paid $1.89 last night for a gallon of regular and I was so frickin' happy! I even saw it going for $.99 in other parts of the U S, frickin' incredible!! Wouldn't mind seeing it go down to like a $1.75 or so in the near future. With all this stayin' in the house or keeping a "social distance" from others is starting o get to me. Am sure there are others like me that just need to get behind the wheel already and put "my metal to the pedal"! Just to take a short road trip would be super cool right now to get away from seeing or hearing any more depressing virus news! I'm just not used to staying home as much as we are now to be honest. Just getting behind the wheel relaxes me and putting my XM radio is just what I need right now. I just want to go back to work so badly. But am blessed as I have a job I really like doing, like getting up early to go to. A big reason why I went back in early 2013. It's plain fun for me to get behind the wheel of a newish or new vehicle and have someone else pay for the gas. How cool is that and even cooler is to get paid to do it! The others on our crew laugh at me because 9 times out of 10 lately, I've been the first volunteer to do or go anywhere. I probably would've worked those two weeks straight if they had asked us to come in that Monday! Got paid for 118 hours on my last paycheck which was pretty cool actually, most I've done at this new gig. And from what we've been told, there's gonna be unlimited hours when we return just to get all vehicles back into their perspective pipelines. And ya know what, I'll be there for at least six out of the seven days if I'm feeling well enough! And think a few of the others will do the same. Do like at least my Mondays off to be honest as some things we just need to get done. But my bosses know, once we open those doors again, I'll be first in line!!

Up here the company is saying 45 days and is recommending we apply for unemployment. Have they given you a time frame for Florida? Do you plan on filing for UI?

I’ve been off a week and I’m going stir crazy. I may end up banging on a dealership’s window begging to buy something through the glass.

I would add that I firmly believe being a geezer is a state of mind; I know some people who were geezers in their teens- and I know some individuals who are 80 years young.

So, what age is a "geezer". I'm 65 and don't think that I am!

I think that my father in law was probably born a "geezer". He never owned a pair of jeans or sneakers. Brown shoes and brown socks with shorts in the summer. Practically agoraphobic and he was constantly muttering about other people, most of it very unflattering.

@graphicguy if you want a quicker in and out, three exits South is DEPs (2 miles). That’s where I do most of my shopping.

    Cool....thanks. That’s a little bit closer.

EDIT...not closer as I just saw you said it was a couple of exits south. But, probably much more convenient getting in and/or out.

It’s five minutes extra drive time round trip, but you’ll save that much just getting to, and out of the parking lot. Plus, much quicker shopping/checkout. Large selection, good prices.

On my way to work I dropped in to Kroger about an hour after it opened. Tons of oldsters there, and none willing to sort out the fiendishly complex self check out lanes- cashier lanes were all 4-5 carts deep. I grabbed a six pack of paper towels(we were down to one roll) and went though self checkout. I was in and out in under four minutes. Luckily all the geezers were in line and not in their cars, so I was out of the lot in 10 seconds rather than 10 minutes...

It seems like almost every time I try the self checkout something goes perflewy. I'll admit a couple times it's me but by far all the other times it ain't. Plus when I go to Home Depot their box can't handle the 10% discount I get for being a Veteran. So I have to wait for an associate to come over and put in their code and sometimes even then it doesn't work and they have to call for help. I'm not going to give up but these places are wearing me down.

In one of the Marx brothers movies (at least one of them) Groucho said, "You've got the mind of a 4 year old child and I bet he was glad to get rid of it!"

Far from ever becoming a geezer, Julius Henry Marx never knew when to quit. He was still working when I was a kid, writing, TV and public appearances and more. He passed away after I graduated HS.

During these times I recall the story told about Groucho lying in his sickbed during his last hospital stay. When a nurse approached and said that she wanted to see if he had a temperature Groucho quipped, "Don't be silly — everybody has a temperature."

I'm not sure if it was here or in "Top 100 Reasons @driver100 Needs a New Mercedes with a Backup Camera," but a few of you asked about @marcogallo1986 AKA @tbirdmarco. We keep in touch via text. I filled him in on the group's latest punches and car swaps. He was very moved that people here have been asking about him. Here’s what he had to say:

“So nice and humbling to know that everyone’s been asking about me tell them all that I say hello, and doing well me and my family, eventually will figure out how to log on there again so I could come in I don’t know it’s probably not that serious just haven’t figured it out yet. But will be some postings later just because I can and it’s been a while since I’ve done that. You and your family to as well, Stacy and chat more later.”

I think that was me on the other board. A new poster was getting some flack because his text was a little bit odd. I mentioned our friend marco’s need to use a voice/text device which didn’t always give a precise translation.

driver100 decided he didn’t need a backup camera just before he coughed on a lot of Americans and fled back across the border.😵😷

Beautiful pix of your car @tjc78. I don't have a glamour pic like that of my car, but I do have one of the TLX under a bridge from recently when I was going on a bike ride over the Lewis and Clark bridge. I also have a pic of my highest mpg ever, which was a highway drive of about 20 miles going c. 60 mph. The low gas prices and light traffic make this a nice time to enjoy our cars.

it was nice today, but going to be a rainy washout tomorrow. At least I got the lawn mowed this afternoon so that is taken care of.

maybe Sunday I will get ambitious and start washing and waxing! RDX actually could use a quick bath. Might wax the Jetta and TLX (neither one has ever been done). Jetta desperately needs a full detail.

so, not that I have driven much the last few weeks, but it has all been in the new RDX (the kid has her Jetta parked behind my car). Pretty much used to it by now. Even the touchpad has been largely figured out, and is really not a big deal. especially since most everything is set up now, and I have little need to touch it while driving. and used to the push button shifter now. so fairly short learning curve. Next up is to use car play in it, but the salesguy set that up and we were playing around with it at delivery, and seems pretty simple.

does drive nice. quick quiet and smooth, with really good handling. great seats and stereo too. Hopefully before too long can take it on an actual trip to shake it out. Did finally hit 150 miles today (at the 2 week mark).

The RDX is a very nice vehicle in every way. I really like the interior, it just exudes quality without being ostentatious. I don’t think I’ve driven 50 miles in the last 2 weeks. I will drive both the TL and Accord tomorrow or Sunday to keep them running and to get out of the house. Grocery shopping by the Mrs will keep the Q5 alive.
