pretty cheap, but that is a low spec model. and steep miles. So tough call. But could make a good teenager first car and one to take off to college.

this one, I love it. Though for a plug in, seems that it should get better city MPG? Anyway, RWD, gorgeous colors, super low miles. roughly 1/2 of original MSRP. almost 2 years BtoB warranty left. No clue how the e version drives, but it looks good!

Edmunds hooked me up with a reporter from The Detroit News back in 2005 prior to the introduction of the E90; I said that the E60 and E65 model's "hideous styling and Buick-like cockpits virtually ensure that my next new car won't be a BMW." Which was true; my next new car was my Mazdaspeed 3.

That’s high milage for a 2019 but getting a 2 yo car for $13k is nothing to sneeze at. If your prime concern was getting the latest tech it would be a no brainer.

My only question would be was it a rental. CarFax is kind of fuzzy on that.

Wow, 7k miles. What do you figure, a service loaner? Otherwise why the low miles on a 3 yo car? I suppose it could be owned by someone who only drove it on Earth Day but it might have been in the shop a lot.

Basic year old Optima with 40K miles, which I think is a prime rental retirement age - likely a rental or from some kind of similar use.

Still, should have a lot of life left in it, probably a fine deal for what it is.

Car fax says personal. It was bought late (must have been a leftover) so only 2 years in service. Likely just someone that didn’t drive much. If there were issues, didn’t make it to car fax

In 2017 I bought a 2015 CPO Infiniti Q40 AWD with less than 7,500 miles on it. The car was a solid 2 1/2 years old when I took delivery of it. Some people just drive back and forth to the train station and want a nice car to drive on the weekend. Others have a 1995 Grand Cherokee Limited they use as a "station car."

Not me; if it was an M Sport and had H-K audio it would make a decent commuter. One of the salesman at the dealer leased one for his wife and she was driving to work on the battery and home on gas- averaging 75 mpg.

I would have bought it yesterday if I was actively shopping for something like that.

Interesting though, and maybe why Carvana is buying again, they seem to be selling. I did a search out of curiosity on CUVs with certain specs. Came up with 81 found. At least 50 were purchase pending. Doesn’t mean they will actually sell, just that someone clicked to start the process and hold it. But I was surprised how little available inventory there was.

Maybe it’s related to a backlog of deliveries.

Maybe up-and-coming if/when the economy recovers. Those things tended to be abused and thrown away, not easy to find a nice one, and much easier to buy a nice one than reclaim a basket case.

I know a guy who had the sibling high spec 3000GT VR4, he said it needed constant work, but was a cool car.

Values follow that, too. I bet a 3000GT is worth twice as much as the equivalent Dodge, and the Supra worth many times more than the Dodge - with low mileage Supras capable of hitting six figures, they've arrived.
  • tifightertifighter Member Posts: 3,786
In terms of the big Japanese sports cars from the 90's, the pecking order always seemed to be NSX, Supra, RX-7, 3000GT. I think everyone forgot the Stealth even exists, so it's clearly way off the back. I do admire the clean fabric interior on this one, though.

Reminds me of "When is a Pontiac not a Pontiac"?

Original owner said he didn't want a Camaro, but he ordered his Firebird new with the Chevy inline-6 (WHAT?), and then when he decided to update it decades later, installed a SBC crate motor.

Although it is a nice-looking car, for whatever reason this just made me go "Grrrr" when I read the story.

I saw Car & Driver posted a comparison test from back in 1993 that featured the VR4, 968, RX7, 300ZX Turbo, Corvette, & Supra Turbo. $40K Sports Cars. They said they are going to have full test results of the 2021 Supra (4 & 6 cyl) tomorrow. 1993 doesn't seem like 27 years ago, and none of these $40K Sports Cars had a 0-60 mph time under 5.2 seconds.

It’s based on the Mini/X2. Even the 235 is a 4 cyl turbo. FWD based.

I see they have a short write-up in Roundel this month and I've heard anecdotally that it is as close to the good ole' days BMW feel, even despite being a Turbo 4 and FWD. Was just curious.

Can’t remember which magazine it was, but I thought I read a review of the new 2-series Gran Coupe that was not particularly kind. Not that it’s a bad car, but just more vanity than anything else.

Nothing new for BMW to be introducing several variants, but this whole 2-series line is a bit confusing, with the Gran Coupe being a FWD-based and the m235i variant being a 4 cylinder...and the coupe continuing as a RWD-based vehicle and the m240i (previously m235i) having the 6 cylinder.
