think the sensors mistook the snowflakes as obstacles and the car literally kept stopping very abruptly.

Have you had your Volvo stop you yet? I was backing up toward another parked car and I guess the sensors thought I was going to quickly for how close I was... BAM full hard stop. Scared the heck out of me.

I haven’t had it happen in the Volvo yet, but yes, it’s a scary experience. Pretty much feels like you hit something.

I reran the numbers with Carvana, they are up, but not by much; still way behind Vroom, but around where Carmax through Edmunds was (online carmax appraisal offer; first time not in person).

I guess that's my answer, sell and take the money from VROOM!

will actually call AFS tomorrow. I ran the scheme concept past the wife tonight. she latched right onto the idea of getting money out of the deal. I explained it might be a wash at best but payments would go away. She still seemed to be onboard. Considering how little she drives by herself now, and it is her car staying if the deal happens, she really doesn't care.

Still not thinking the numbers in the end will work, but if I can get an in-stone offer to pick it up and not have it cost me anything, I probably do it.

I got a text from the broker I leased my Tacoma through. He said that a few of his clients that leased Tacomas through him in 2019 are making out very well. One person walked away with $1,500 and another about $4K.

I lied... Vroom lowered their offer by about $200. Likely due to the 250 strict mileage rule. Annoying, especially since the email said my renewed old quote was good for 2 more days and I TOLD THE PHONE REP I drove like 350 miles since my last quote.

I actually punched my 2020 Tundra into Carvana and they offered $44,141. I have no clue what the payoff is, but probably fairly close to that. I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat if the redesigned Tundra were out and was leasing well.

With two kids driving, one at home full time and the other at our home half the time, plus the newly added MINI, I’m getting good at maneuvering the Supra and Volvo around the driveway.

It really seems like the best move for you. You don't use it, you're paying for it, and you don't love it either. I don't see a downside here, aside from the occasional inconvenience of a single vehicle.

Hard to believe it's been a year since I turned in the Jetta and started sharing the Outback.

Hasn't really been a problem, since the wife rarely takes the Subaru herself; she rides with her daughter in the MINI the majority of the time.

Current value of the GTI is over $1000 more than I paid for it, in February.

It isn't an engine problem, it is a quality problem. It doesn't feel any better than a '90s Chevy SUV.

To sum up the process, got a quote Sunday August 16 and submitted it.
Got an email back that paperwork was being sent.
Got email with documents to fill out on August 21.
Paperwork arrived Friday Aug 21, sent back same day.
Receipt of paperwork sent to me Monday August 24.
Contacted by carrier to take truck on Tuesday evening August 25.
Carrier took truck Wednesday morning August 26.
Check arrived Thursday August 27.

Answered him... IMO, he has a tough road ahead. As I noted, the powertrain is outdated, and the main selling points for the current Tundra are Toyota's reliability reputation and the killer lease deals available.

Ha Ha... My car and my Mom's is white. The Enclave's replacement may be as well (if I have anything to do with it).

Wife isn't giving much opinion on the Enclave's replacement. I was thinking of staying with GM but not sure if I want another Buick. GM Financial has a $2500 loyalty but it's attached to Buick models only. IMO that's kind of silly as GMC and Buick usually share the same dealer and captive finance company.

I would not want your insurance premium. With one 18 yr old driver, a 14, 7, and 4 year old cars, clean driving records, our insurance premium is a lot higher than I ever imagined. I do have full coverage on all and $500 deductible.

Check with your agent on what a deductible increase would do to your premium.

When my step kids got their license, we explained to them that they had to have savings equal to the deductible, and if they were in an at-fault accident, their savings would be used. This meant they had skin in the game.

Email from the dealer to buy the Outback - their offer was $17,230.

Had to run it through Vroom - they will give me $18,947.

so, ran the car again. the difference in 0 accidents and 1 accident (which oddly, they ask nothing about) was $6,500. so I called, got escalated to a specialist, who said if it was minor and fixed to be perfect (as it was) to not worry about it. Seemed odd, but the call was recorded. He did appreciate being honest and mentioning it!

so based on not taking the haircut, after getting the dealer payout amount from AFS, if there were no adjustments for that or a curbed wheel (no place to disclose that either, but could be issue at inspection) I could flip out 15 months early and collect $1,500 for my trouble.

will be pouring the wife an IPA with dinner to float this whole scheme past her, but we may becoming a 1 car family shortly.
