I just wish I could fit in a Cayman or Boxster.

Which part of you doesn't fit? 6'5" and 235lb here and I fit in the old Boxsters. Haven't tried a recent generation. I'd be surprised if I didn't fit in a Cayman. I don't recall ever sitting in one, though.
I'm shorter than you at 6'3", but do have a long inseam. So my legroom seems to be pretty cramped in the couple Porsches I've tested - one 718 Boxster and a 911 (2005, I think?).

So yeah, I do fit, but it's a bit cramped.

But that hasn't stopped me from looking at used Boxsters/Caymans today! Inspired by @kyfdx, the value on my Supra seems to indicate I may get more than what I paid for it, so if I were interested in a quick flip...

@laurasdada - since you like Jags so much, and you're thinking of going electric, have you looked at the I-Pace at all?

Plug-in hybrid, no pure BEV for me. Currently, no where to charge at home, which likely will change upon move(s). Price, range (New England winters)...no, not yet.

However, should the fickle finger of fate change fortunes, I would be looking at an I-Pace. The reviews as a driver are good... And, the new XJ is to be BEV, so let's see. Of course, if I see the word, "Lucas" anywhere near the vehicle...!

Drove a 2020 Audi Q3 today and got that sh-t eating grin on my face within the first five minutes of driving it! Turns out it was a Quattro but what a rush, felt like the first time I drove my current Golf, I knew within five minutes that I'd own that sucker one day. And now, I do. And today, I finally drove a vehicle that made me feel that same way. And if fate were different, I'd have gotten the Q5 we picked up at the first office. My lead gave that one to another driver but said, no worries, you're getting an Audi also. We got to the second location and I see a white over beige Audi Q3 in the garage. Turns out, that was my vehicle to take up to the Audi store in West Palm Beach.
I think it just might be the perfect replacement vehicle when the time does come. Didn't have any special audio system like mine, but think I could live with it. Did have the sun/moon roof that I like and as my driver buddy said, with the little amount of driving I do now, why worry about the mpg's. And I'm starting to think his way, I put maybe 50 miles/week now so miles/gallon really isn't a concern any more. It sits a little bit higher than the wife's A3, a good thing and it looks to be the same size, another good thing.
Now, just need to drive a couple more to see if it's as good as I remember from this morning. But finally, found a vehicle that gave me that feeling I've been waiting for. Need to check with our local store to see if they have any loaners coming up for sale or maybe a CPO model could work. So, time will tell but I've finally found something I'd be happy to trade the Golf in for now.

I told you the Q3 was a perfect option. Just don't look at the price. And agree about the mileage. do the math, and you are probably only talking about a few $ a month. Even $20 should not make much of a difference.

Yes, the Q3 is quite engaging.... and it is quite small, too!

I'm driving a loaner Q5 at the moment (and for the next couple weeks). I'm not sure if they downsized it, but it feels very much the same size as the Q3. The only difference is that it sits just a little higher and has a far more usable hatch.

    A note on fuel economy:

The Q3 I drove netted me around 24 on the highway. However, this was mid-winter (January), so summer would probably be closer to 30. Amazingly, the Q5 I have now returned (computer-calculated) 30.5 on the drive home from Anchorage a couple of weeks ago. Total average since I got it from the dealer is 29.5 to date, which is around 750 miles so far. Really, not bad at all - Highly comparable to, if not a slight bit better than, the Q7's TDI. Unfortunately, both the Q3 and Q5 require premium fuel, so that factors negatively in the cost calculation (e.g., TDI wins!). However, for the fun and comfort factor, I suppose the trade might be a reasonable one.

In both cases, these engines are 2.0T. I imagine a 3.0T would just be silly. Also, driving dynamics... these things are great! I took my favorite curve today at 50 mph (signed at 25), which is the speed I used to drive my Fiesta around it. If a two-ton "SUV" can take a curve like a little sub-compact, that's saying something. I would not dare take the Q7 at that speed on that curve. :D

Yes, they sponsored the entire C30 series, I think, but I also think he's plugged them in other videos.

The random fly-by-night "boutique" dot-com sponsors that will be out of business in a year, like the custom soap/deodorant company, are not going to age well.

Good info. I know where to go for advice if I ever were to get brave enough to look seriously at a Porsche.

Uh, didn't you test drive a Boxster before you pulled the trigger on the Supra?

Does anyone know where I can get a free/discounted Carfax?

Most of the car sites like Autotrader include a CarFax in the ad. A lot of car dealers supply them free too.

This made me look up the Q3 on Audi Canada's website. It is a terrible website, revised since the last time I visited, and a lot of the functions do not work. Makes one wonder how it ever got released into production. I hope that isn't also reflective of their vehicle engineering!

Contrary to what @xwesx noted, it says the engine takes regular fuel, not premium. But what I noticed was that the color choice at least here in Canada was seriously limited. Paints are made up of 2 whites, 2 grays, black, metallic red, and if you get the Sport package, an eye-searing orange and a brilliant non-metallic blue. Inside you had a choice of black or brown upholstery, with dark gray replacing the brown option on the Sport. Didn't see a beige/cashmere or other light color choice for inside.

Up here they offer 3 model levels which I'm not sure is the same in the US. No sense talking pricing because again that would be very different in the US. It seems to fall into the same bracket as the Caddy XT4 and the M-B GLA/GLB.

Well, if the Audi is what you want, you’re at a time in life when you can enjoy that. A friend of mine was so taken by the small Volvo CUV — the V60 I think — he and his wife each have one!
