It should be comparable to my Elantra, which was quite quick for a little car, but I doubt you are dropping into the 5’s.

When I finally get another car, I want something like this. Not overly low, but compact size and with a hatch and usable cargo area. Quick enough to be entertaining, good handling, and still respectable MPG. With the tech and convenience goodies I want but nothing over the top. And for a reasonable price.

Tomorrow, going to a Derby week, BMW corporate driving event, at Kentucky Speedway.

They had three different options, but by the time I read the email, just one was left.

0-60 experience (sort of a drag strip kind of thing)
Follow BMW pro driver on the actual track (I would have picked this)
    Autocross course

Autocross was the only one left (which I've never done).

I expect to suck at it, but on the plus side? All vehicles are new BMW M2 competition coupes!

So, don't look for me on Edmunds, tomorrow afternoon. ;)

I was invited to a BMW event a couple of years ago - I was able to participate in both the "follow the driver" and autocross events.

The autocross was pretty fun - low speeds but you get a real feel for the handling. I took the course in both a 60-series Gran Coupe and an X2. There was an M4 available, but all the flat-brimmed bros were fighting for time behind the wheel.

I'm hoping they get some no-shows, and maybe I'll get to do the track thing, too.

Pretty soon they will be paying you to lease Tacos.

Those killer Tundra deals are also very, very enticing.

I had the Q7 up to 105+ or so one time while performing a passing maneuver. Traffic was traveling at about 75 in a SL80 zone, two lane, long straight stretch. I was originally planning to just pass a couple vehicles ahead, but there continued to be no oncoming traffic, and nobody else was passing, so I just continued. When I was three vehicles from the front (I had already passed a dozen or more), I could tell the road sloped away ahead of me, and I couldn't see beyond that, so I popped it up a bit to finish the pass more quickly.

It seemed there was plenty of acceleration left, as it jumped up to those speeds quite rapidly.

Plus, it's a TDI, so probably still getting about 35 mpg. ;)
Not *quite* that good. I did get a tank at 31 mpg on that trip, and my worst was north of 29. That's pretty good for high-speed driving in a vehicle that weights 5,500# empty (we added another 1,500# of people and cargo).

I think that in VW's way of thinking, no factory-installed clutch assembly can ever be defective and so they never pay for a single replacement.

We did all three. As usual I was mediocre at the autocross, but the M2C is just way too much fun.

The drag race was interesting. You also had to stop at the end within a “stop box” to win. The cars were Competition versions of the X5 M, X6 M, M8, and M2. I won two drag races and my son won another.

Lapping the tri-oval was a lead-follow exercise. All the cars were M8C coupes, Gran Coupes, and convertibles.

We were lucky to see 115 mph; we had a real slow poke in our group. I did get a couple of laps behind the instructor but we left the timid folks behind and had to slow down so that they could catch up. My son didn’t have any better luck.

Still, it was a lot of fun.
I wish that the BMW event here was held at Pikes Peak Int'l Raceway; rather, they use the space that local law enforcement uses for training.

found this one at a local dealer. Like the colors. Other than being an AT (and a 15 YO Audi) the price seems not too steep for the miles. FWD (less to break!) and in the details says DSG and Tiptronic in different places. I thought the FWD got the normal trans, but Andre would know for sure I assume.

I drove one when they first came out. My first experience with a DSG. Could tell the difference from a regular AT but it was still no manual trans.

    https://www.subaruofcherryhill.com/used/Audi/2006-Audi-A3-cherry-hill-nj-dc49738a0a0e0ae743b91fb9e911019a.htm

All A3's got the DSG. I think Audi wasn't sure what to call the DSG transmissions, so for like a year they might have called them Triptronics, then S-Tronic. I still call them DSG's.

One of my favorite things is that when you brake with spirit it downshifts and rev matches that creates a nice winding/slowing down chorus out of the exhaust.

We have six metro Toyota dealers. 5-10 units at each one.

If you really are on a tight budget, the SR double cab, 4WD V6 has the highest residual (81% for 36/12), and is around $34K MSRP. About 20% seem to be that configuration.

The 4Runners lease okay, but not nearly as well as the pickups. Not sure on the Sequoias - I think a lot of those are bought outright. The 4Runner may be the most outdated of all of them. I don't think you can get LED headlights on any trim, and they still use a five speed automatic, which is something that even the owners who really like them complain about (I'm not certain that it's just the number of gears, what I read sounds like it doesn't want to keep the engine in the power band).

We have six metro Toyota dealers. 5-10 units at each one.

It's similar here. When I got the Tundra, I didn't bother to call around asking whether any of them were familiar with the US Bank lease offerings. The place where I bought told me that they're the highest volume truck dealer in the region. So, they're getting a ton of volume incentives, which explains how they blow them out at great prices.

That bmw is lovely. Would be even better if RWD!

Nice RSX. I always liked those. If I’d gotten that instead of my integra a few years ago would probably still have it. I expect that one will pull strong money.

The RSX Type S was my backup if I couldn't find a leftover Prelude Type SH or a Base Prelude with a manual transmission back in 2002.

The Kona always had the 1.6t engine option. Maybe is was 175hp? The slightly detained version from what my sport Elantra had, but still quick for that class

The article claims the higher-HP engine is an all-new design.

I probably wouldn't even look for a type S. Rather spend 1/2 the money or less on a base engine car. Fine for me at this point.

The careful wiring under the dash really does it for me. You can really tell they sweated the details on that car.

I saw that. though "all new" is often stretched quite a bit. But they must have done some updates.

I think the only difference between the old 175 HP 1.6t and the one I had in the sport (201 HP i think) was tuning, with same mechanicals, but don't hold me to that!

in any case, it was a nice drivetrain. Quick, but excellent MPG. and sounded good.
