that is the cool part. Some years ago when I was shopping, I drove a used one but with an AT. It was still quick, and a lot of fun.

they have something else that ticks the buttons. I do like this, only missing a lighter interior but for something like this, I can make an exception. RWD, stick, M Sport? perfect.

already not cheap. Wonder what this one will go to?

I posted a while back, but the buyer of my wife's E91 Msport sold it on BAT. Compared to this one, it was AWD (plus or minus depending on the buyer) and had the cold weather and NAV. And I think it had around 120k miles. It sold for around $17-18k if memory serves.

I think this one breaks into the low $20k's.

EDIT...I found the listing. Only 101k miles. And sold for $17.5k.

Everyone needs at least one! You can add the next 250,000 kilometers!

The good news.... sale includes a 400-page manual to explain th operation of the accessory switch panel.
The bad news.... it is in Japanese.

The dealership with my 2017 M2 keeps teasing me. Another $1k reduction in price, so it's at $41,990.

Let's say they swap me the M2 plus, I don't know, $5,000-$6,000 for the Supra. I really like it, but for a similar feeling car performance-wise, it just doesn't feel like much of a difference to give up 3 model years and a current warranty.

The local Ford dealership still has their 2018 M2, but with a manual. That, I would probably do to gain the manual (plus the LCI), if it were around the same price as the 2017. But...not even close.

The more I think about it the more I’m inclined to go with the Supra 3.0 Premium; I like the M340i quite a bit, but why not get that 382 hp B58/8HP combo in a much smaller package? I haven’t owned a true two seat sports car since the SPL311 I ran in the ‘70s, and I’m not getting any younger.

That's a good way to look at it - the BMW connection is obvious, but I tell ya, I just don't think about in any other terms than a BMW coupe when I drive it. Toyota designed the exterior and supposedly tuned the suspension, but the balance, feel and refinement is all BMW in my opinion.

And from that perspective, it's a pretty good deal.

I know you have concerns over getting it serviced - I assume the first few services that are to be done at a Toyota dealership are pretty basic and straightforward. Beyond that, I'd just go to an independent BMW mechanic.

Nationwide search of BMW wagons came up with this as the most relevant, right down the street.

No need for it in the fleet, but that is a pretty wagon. I would assume the light interior with the Estoril Blue is fairly rare.

Pretty ... but I gotta think that is... what? Only 25% below what I could get a 2020 ex-loaner for? Yeah, I know wagons as ex-loaners are super rare, but still.

My rental is a 2020 Altima. Base model, and feels like it. The CVT seems improved from the 2009 I used to have, and feels like it's tuned to provide more RPMs at 25 MPH and below, but, it's still very eager to get the engine below 2,000 RPM. Also, this is the roughest rental I've had in a while. Reeks of smoke inside, and then there's the exterior...

The newer Altima's do shift so much better with the CVT, it's almost like night and day. We started getting in the new Sentra' last week but I haven't had a chance to drive one yet. My lead did, the stinker should've let me take it, and he said I'm going to love it. But, looks wise, just don't think I could do it for a long period of time. Just don't think I'd be happy after a few months, so it ain't gonna happen.

Think SDA is right, I'm somewhat spoiled now and don't really think I can go back again to a true economy vehicle. I showed my wife what y'all said and she just laughed and said "they're right"! As much as I say I want "cheap to keep", it might be hard to actually do it. I do think I could be happy with the Corolla hatchback as it looks a bit more sporty especially with the nice alloys. And it is the perfect size also. The size issue really restricts me into what I can get going forward. And as much as I think I'm going to like the new VW GTI, not a fan of 18" or larger alloys/tires because of the tiny sidewalls they generally come with. I have 17" alloys now with 45 series tires and that's really as small a sidewall as I'd ever ant to go. We'll just have to see when the new ones come out how they drive.
Hopefully, with the low miles I'm driving now, the current Golf will behave for another couple of years so I can look at a nicer vehicle, maybe a CPO unit or even a loaner. But it would have to be in immaculate condition honestly as I'm a bit picky.

Also, for anyone curious, book time on recalibrating the lane departure warning camera is 4 hours. They said my bill for that would be $500+, and they don't direct bill to the insurance company, so I'll get to pay and then get reimbursed. Given the amount of time involved, I'm probably going to ask that they cover the rental, as well.

It also looks like Nissan made some strange decisions regarding standard equipment on the base 2021 Altima. From what I can tell:
    2020 has CarPlay - deleted in 2021
2020 has auto emergency braking, 2021 adds pedestrian detection
2020 has Active Ride Control (minimally manipulates throttle / brakes to help smooth rough surfaces), deleted in 2021
2020 has Intelligent Trace Control (VSA supplement designed to keep the car on its intended path)
^ both the above 2 are incredibly stupid deletions, because it sounds like they only involve software, which costs nothing once developed
    2021 adds ProPilot Assist
2021 adds Lane Departure Warning and Intelligent Lane Intervention
    2021 adds auto high beams

Wow, though I appreciate the added safety features the cost of maintaining them is high, ouch to the check book. Yet if the lane departure system prevented a crash and injury you can’t put a price on that.

don't bump into someone and do minor damage to front fascia if it has all the electronic stuff for laser cruise and parking sensors in it. Or bust a mirror if is has sensors and cameras on it. Plus the windshield of course.

I seem to remember an article in the IIHS publication--someone there had a kid with a Prius that was involved in a minor front-end collision. After the repair (in which the crooked body shop was paid for repairing the structure around the radar sensor and recalibrating it, but failed to do so), it was off by a couple of degrees and the radar cruise control would completely freak out whenever the car traversed a hill.

There’s not a thing on that list that I would want or use. There are things like lane departure and auto high beams that I find extremely annoying. I’m not even sure what Pro Pilot Assist is.

Nissan does load their cars up with nannies though. Blind spot monitoring is probably the only thing I wouldn’t try to disable.

BLIS and rear cross path is great. And just "informational" (in that it doesn't actively do anything). And I used to be skeptical, but now really like auto high beams and wipers.

Maybe ProPilot Assist includes those features, or maybe they didn't work very well.

I drove a Golf yesterday. Nice handling and reasonably zippy but getting in and out was a chore. How do you do it with a bad back?
I don't have too much trouble, if there is room to open the door all the way (they really open wide).

In the garage, next to my wife's car, it is a little bit of a pain. Probably more so, with the bolstered seats in my GTI.

I would not mind something like that S60. But it had to be silver over black?

    Speaking of safety nannies...

A friend of mine, who I met while we were both delivering pizzas, had his beloved 2005 Tahoe stolen. His wife's car is a CR-V, and he reached out to me for help in trying to replace it. He's got a couple of pre-teen kids, and they camp and use the vehicle off-road more than normal.

He picked up a late model 4Runner through Carvana, but returned it, as it wasn't as comfortable as the Tahoe was (duh!).

He then got a 2018 Tahoe, which he absolutely hates. Doesn't like the tech, it's not as good off-road, and it's too big for his tastes.

It also doesn't have BMS or lane departure warning, which he feels is necessary on a car this size.

It does have lane keep assist - does anyone know how this is implemented for GM? I've not got a lot of experience with that feature.
