That 4 series seems pretty pricy for a 2018 with 47K miles but at least it is CPO

Just a word of advice to a poster buddy. When yours comes in you better not let the flippers in here know about it or it will mysteriously disappear. Don’t say you ain’t been warned. :(

It has most every option including the Track Handling Package which you rarely see on a GC.

    So far, a lot.

Would be kinda cool with a 2.0t and 6 speed manual swapped in!

It’s light enough, could even skip the T part. Maybe a 2.4/manual.

No doubt because it's a wagon. Sedan would probably bring half the price.
  • sdasda Member Posts: 7,586
Certainly a rare find. I was surprised by how highly optioned it is. A lot of the options I thought would have been standard by then were optional adding almost 1/3 to the total price! The hidden lamps are a treat.

Porsche interiors: Whatever color the seats are, is carried through on carpets and dash. While tan, red, etc, look great on the seats, not so much when it's on everything. It doesn't wear well, especially on the carpets (pink, eventually on red interiors).

That's why I get the color on the outside, and take black interior.

And, no telling where that ends up. It would be a great deal at current auction price.

I saw that one, too. I always liked those cars "back in the day." Not sure I could stomach the price tag on this one. Despite being dusted off, it doesn't look like it's had the most loved life to me.

I'm curious ... what do you see wrong with it? I was thinking it is pretty damned clean. It will probably go for WAY more than I want to pay.
Well, it is just the vibe it gives off, to me. Given the horrific condition of the steering wheel, I see an old heavy-smoker slob driving it for the past 25 years. Yeah, it made it through it pretty darn well, and it cleaned up nicely, but there wasn't a lot of actual care that went into the ownership. It was just luck and the passage of time (without a lot of miles) that brought us to where it is today.

I saw a lot of cars of that era (back in that era), and there's only one that this one brings to mind... and that's exactly the owner it had.

That aside, I don't disagree with your assessment.

Agreed. If I lease it’s going to be something I’m fine keeping until the end. If something comes up earlier of course I’d consider it.

Once I got the GTI, and starting driving 500 miles/month, I lost all interest in leasing.

Seems a lot more prudent to spend $40K-$50K on a Porsche, for a 2nd vehicle. :D

Yeah, a little lower than I expected given the typical madness on that site, but still a couple grand over my limit.

I also had an interest in the JDM Impreza, but that shot up in the end, too. I would have been a buyer at $5750. ($6k with fee)

My wife won't do the long road trip thing. We drove to South Bend in early October. That's getting close to her limit. She'll go farther, if the flights aren't great.

My wife will ride anywhere I feel like driving. I think. She might have a limit but I haven’t pushed to find it yet. She also doesn’t like flying if don’t have to.

8 hours or so to NC or 5/6 to Boston is no bother. 12+ to Chicago might be over. At least trying it in one day.

5-6 hours is our limit too. Unless airfare is just nuts, I prefer to fly past that.

Unless the drive is part of the trip of course. I could see flying to CA and driving through wine country for example.

My limit is generally 5-6 hours but, given where I live, that doesn't get us super far - we basically have to fly anywhere. I used to travel for consulting and flew 125k miles/year domestically at the height. Now we generally fly (pre-pandemic) 3-5x a year for vacation, to see family back east, etc plus business travel.

We are in prime vacation retirement years. (young enough to enjoy it, but with no job). We are probably on a plane at least three times per year.
Of course 2020 and 2021 were not so great.

I'll guess at least three or four times for 2022, though.

We try to drive. 800 miles in one shot isn't too much.
Usually, that's as far as we need to go.
My wife and I swap driving every few hours.
Not a fan of flying due to the hassles.
When I was a kid, about 10, I came back from Germany with one plane change.

I remember those days. You were a true road warrior racking it up domestically. I’d hit 125k-150k or so but it had a good bit of international mixed in. It was fun for a while but I don’t miss it.

Tesla unlocked the heated steering wheel option on certain Model 3 SR+ to add through the upgrade portal, for a fee of course. Also gave us rear heated seats (big whoop). Wife is very happy because this was the only option she cared about and really wanted.

So maybe WON'T get the mach-e tomorrow. I got to the bank before 5 but Karen was in front of me and making sure everyone paid attention to her problem. So I waited 45 mins before the manager offered to help me. I missed the deadline to get a wire transfer in during the arbitrary business hours, hence it won't actually get to them until Monday. I emailed the rep a pic of the receipt and asked if they'd still allow me to come get it. No response yet.

Wife isn’t much into flying, anymore. Would prefer to drive, where we can control when and where to stop.

Santa Fe is roughly 6 hours, and Sedona is a two (short) day drive. CA is 17+, but it’s been years since we’ve done that.
