@benjaminh - I think that's the first time I've seen the Maverick's ride quality called out for being "choppy" over potholes... I'd venture to guess that most modern vehicles could be called out for that!

it is not bad. on real bad roads you might get a small amount of rear thump, but it is a truck and not a lexus. and vastly better than bigger trucks. overall though it is just fine. as good as any comparable compact CUV like a Bronco sport. and sometimes better because of the longer wheelbase.

Roadburner certainly knows his Katy Perry trivia.

I knew that because Carl Nelson(owner of La Jolla Independent BMW Service) was contacted by the video's production company about providing one of his cabriolet's for the shoot. Carl's daughter was extremely ticked off because she didn't get an autograph out of the deal. Some of us knew that his white cabriolet was going to be featured so we all watched the video as soon as it was released.

Anyone have recommendations on where to order a used wheel?

Apparently one of the wheels on my son's 2012 MDX is bent and needs to be replaced.

Jeez, that old would almost have to be a local used tire/wheel shop I would guess. Maybe even a pull your own part type of place.

Is he home at the moment or still at school?

Where is he? Most larger cities have services that can repair bent alloy wheels, or you can dismount the tire and have the wheel sent off somewhere for repair and drive on the spare for a bit. eBay should have used wheels, though.

Last one I needed I used:

That helped me find a junk yard that had one close by.

If not can always try Ebaymotors

Just messing around, checking the book trade in values on my Tundra:
    Edmunds rough: $42,848
    Edmunds average: $45,190
    Edmunds clean: $47,532
    Edmunds outstanding: $48,703

    KBB was similar.

Care to guess the buy bids I got from CarMax, Carvana, etc.?

    Carvana: $36,836
    Vroom: $38,950
    CarMax (through Edmunds site): $41,900
    CarMax (through CarMax site): $42,100

When my friend was selling his 19 F150 he got numbers that ranged from the Edmunds outstanding to the Vroom number, approximately, This was over the 3 months or so that it took to find something to replace it with. All kinds of algorithms running in the background of those sites so the numbers are going to change often on something popular like a FS truck.

But, that Carvana number is shockingly low. What is your residual?

I was able to get a used wheel for our TL at a Acura/Honda specialty used parts yard. They even delivered it to Discount Tire. My daughter clipped a curb at a fast food joint and cracked the rim.

I think it will be around $37,500 after making all the lease extension payments, plus I'd have to pay 6% state sales tax. Even with that, it will be tempting to buy it if the Maverick isn't here by then.

I would think any mechanic’s shop has access to nation wide date bases of used car parts and could find exactly what you need. My guy was able to get 3 wheels for the cargo van when they got so rusty they wouldn’t hold air.

Just be careful on the eBay stuff. Lots of cheap Chinese knock offs.

Straightening is certainly worth a try unless its nearly as much as a new/used one.

Could always splurge and get him a set of aftermarket’s. Discount Tire usually has a good selection at a fair price.

Craigslist, ebay, Facebook all have used wheels for sale. Usually a full set of four, but there are exceptions. And you could probably buy 4 wheels off Craigslist for less than one new wheel from the dealer.

I found a used reconditioned wheel online for about $190 including shipping and it should be here within a week.

Seemed like a reasonable cost and worth it over trying to get the wheel repaired. And certainly better than the $528 cost direct from Acura (that was the price quoted from the repair shop).

I had a heck of a time finding a local reconditioning place to take care of a major curbing rash on my TLX. only found one anywhere close and they never responded to my contact requests. So I just gave up. and Carvana did not seem to care.

Back in 2013 my wife hit a pothole in her 2013 Escape with about 8k on it. It folded part of the back of the rim over, the flange maybe it's called, but they put on a new tire and it held. A new set of tires at 72k and it held air. It's still holding air today!

We have light curb rash on one wheel of the XC. I hope I can have it taken care of without needing a new wheel. The damage is only about 3” on the edge.

I guess I ran over a Samurai sword in the S4 and punctured one of the PS4S tires on the inner tread and sidewall.

Found 2 Supersports at 5/32nds for $100! That's a no brainer vs. a new PS4S at nearly $300 and furthermore, with quattro, you can't do just one; the tread will match up nicely and get me into the next Winter. Close on tread and close on grip.

I'll even have an extra PS4S to get me there in the event of another puncture.

The mpg is a combo… but only sort of. For example, I reset the mpg while in electric mode but, although the instantaneous read 99, the average was 32. FYI, I was able to keep it over 30 for quite some time. I think maybe it does some sort of conversion of empg? I dunno.

It appears they recommend 87 octane for the 4xE, yet it has a 2.0 liter turbo engine, right? Has anyone tested whether the engine produces more power with premium (like Ford's turbo engines that are rated for regular) or not (like Honda's turbo engines)?

Honda's are rated with 87 octane. Acura's are rated with higher numbers, with 91 octane recommended or required.

Our T6 Volvos “require” 91. Wife has put 87 in the XC and the computer must adjust for it because there wasn’t any pinging or check engine light.

When I had my Avalon Toyota said premium could he used for “enhanced performance”. I think it was 4 HP since on the Lexus that was the HP bump and they required premium on the exact same engine.

My opinion is any mainstream car will probably be fine on 87 regardless of the requirement. I still put premium in because with as little as we drive the cost difference isn’t much.

Both my cars it’s optional. My guess, since we drive them so easy (rarely above 3k rpm, etc) that we never get into the high rev range where the extra HP might hide.
