My company was an early-ish adaptor of installing chargers at the office. First a couple in the garage, that expanded. Then adding more to the surface lots, all Chargepoint and only available to tenants of the office park.
Stick, likely the answer is Taycan.

Taycan would require some serious budget gymnastics. An Ioniq5 or IQ4 is workable if I want. A Bolt is probably more in the sweet spot!

for chargers, that is a hire a guy job. I don't mess with electricity beyond changing light fixtures or replacing a dimmer switch or outlet. This house is not too bad. The panel is in the basement right behind the garage but still some fishing required. the last house was perfect. The panel was on the garage wall right inside the garage. Exactly where the charger was needed. so would have required about 1 foot of wire to a new outlet, and just attached the charger to the wall and plug it in. simplest possible arrangement for that.

I had the Mustang out today to get some routine maintenance done at the dealer. Oil, coolant, replace 8 year old battery before it strands me and a few minor recalls.

While I was waiting I took a flyer and asked if I could order a stripper F-150 2 wheel drive with an 8’ bed or was that just available for fleets. The answer was: yes I can. $36k before taxes and maybe a 6 month wait. No discussion of any discounts but no mention of any dealer mark ups either.

At this point it’s just a random thought since it would be the most expensive vehicle I’ve ever bought. Probably a poor choice for an occasional junk hauler.

You know, back in the day people bought trucks to be used as trucks. My dad bought his '70 Chevy C-10 new and used it as it was meant to be used - hauled lumber and tools in it, brought home fresh king crab from the airport in Santa Barbara for an Elks club event, towed a bass boat with it.

The only fun it had was when I used it for a time-speed-distance rally with a buddy of mine when I was just out of HS. By far the largest vehicle in the rally.

I doubt you could find a used truck in the same configuration for the same price, so I say go for it....

You’re going to spend serious dollars on most any EV you buy. A thou or two for an electrician to install the proper charger is insignificant by comparison.

Farmer, you could probably find a 6 YO one like with with a hard 100K on it, and still pay $25k for it. so might as well get new and not deal with someone else's problem (and the likely rot underneath).

just get the 5.0 instead of the Ecoboost. Unless they still offer the NA 3.5l V6. pokey but cheaper.

can you live with a 6' bed? I built a short cab Ranger XL. 2WD. Added the basic goodies package ($1,100) to get power mirrors and cruise, the bed utility package (about $360) since it is useful, and CP360 since I think it is important for safety. That is about $650.

as configured, about $31,500. drop all the options and sticker is in the mid-$29s.

did a search. as expected, zero 4x2s up here. But, a few 4x4s at this price. get the cruise, etc. package, and probably good for you, deleted the rear seat! $32,600 MSRP. though probably worth the extra to get the big boy truck if you want the size.

My son has rewired the entire house, and, after installing everything including three mini-split heat pumps, he said it is not only possible, but likely, that there could be times we overload the main breaker.

And, it turns out we do need a new 40A wire for an electric cooktop (old one takes 30A), so no fun.

Cooktop is at the opposite corner from where the panel is, in the basement. (all finished ceilings, down there). Going to be pricey, plus plenty of drywall repair, afterwards...

We've already had a massive rate increase for natural gas, and the same utility has made an application to increase electricity rates as well, later this year...

The repair needed for running the plumbing on one of the mini-splits is probably 4x the work as all of the electrical intrusions combined. He did an amazing job with it, and it looks quite professional, to boot!

The stripper comes with a 3.3L Duratec V6 with 280hp. No race car but still 90hp more than my cargo van which weighs more so I would be happy with that.

I’d rather not. The problem is that they don’t really build single cab vehicles any more. Otherwise a modern Ranger would be ok I guess.

Suddenly $15k for a 12 or 13 yo old style Ranger is looking more attractive.

No, the joists are all running across.

We have a steel I-beam, that runs the length of the house (drywalled in). So, a couple of holes to get into the I-beam cavity, then probably 4-5 pilot holes to look for blockages, etc. (52 feet from end to end), then 90 degrees to run between the joists, and hopefully, right up through the floor, after current cabinet demo.

Figuring 100 feet of 8 gauge, and a new 40 amp breaker. Plus labor, then someone else to repair all of the drywall... then paint.

you are overthinking this. just get a 100' extension cord and plug it in, shoot it out the window and back into the kitchen, and good to go.

Tonight I checked out the 2016 JK Rubicon I was looking at. It drove very well and the price was reasonable but I was very disappointed to find that the OEM radio/NAV system had been replaced by a very mediocre Alpine head unit- which means no voice recognition and apparently no BT either- as a lightning cable was snaked from the rear of the radio to the console.

I haven't brought that up, yet. But, definitely something to think about. I think it would have to be buried, though. (I am definitely not an electrician)

I'd really like to run a new 200A panel to the garage, on the opposite end of the house (in front of the laundry/kitchen). That would give me the 40A for the cooktop, plus room for a car charger, and another A/C unit. That couldn't cost more than $10K, right?
