looks like a nice one. But south Florida, check for water. And since started out in New England, check for crust under there too!

but black over black without even a moonroof to lighten it up, I would have a lot of trouble dealing with that!

Here is another black over black, but at least the top goes down, and currently within my budget. I just am not brave enough.

I like the later ones with flared fenders, but that's nothing to sneeze at. Too bad it isn't a silvery blue, but the color is period correct. Too bad almost everything out there is a flip too.

Just getting caught up after a half week trip to Chicago. When we take Uber or Lyft, the GF and I typically review the car we rode in (in real time by texting each other), even if it's just a snide remark about a cracked windshield.

The winner, by far, was a 2020-ish Accord Hybrid. Extremely quiet (even on the interstate), zero engine noise, comfortable. Missing A/C vents for rear passengers in the center console, as there was a storage compartment where it's fairly obvious the upper trims have vents for rear passengers--annoying for an Uber, but perfectly fine for a daily driver. The GF has a similar (non-hybrid) Camry and preferred the Accord Hybrid.

The worst hooptie, by far, was a 2014-present Cherokee with about 230k showing on the odometer. I counted at least five warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The suspension was completely shot, it rode rough over even mild potholes, and there was a lot of creaking. The engine felt like it was going to die rather than idle--I'm assuming it was the 2.4 liter four. It was very oddly optioned and had a large infotainment display and pano roof but cloth seats, no BSM, and the aforementioned normally aspirated four.

That sounds like a classic used up penalty box. I thought Uber, Lyft and others had to meet certain minimum standards. It doesn’t sound like that can be enforced. You should have only been charged Rent-a-Wreck prices.

Thanks! I didn't even hear about it until hours later. Sadly, that kind of thing could happen anywhere, anymore. And weirdly, that is the bank I use, although I've never been to that branch.

I was on my way out of town that morning for a week of training in Kansas City. I was near Corydon, Indiana when my wife called me (she almost never calls!) to make sure I hadn't stopped downtown for anything. She actually used to work in the building across the street from that bank.

It's a base car, so the 2.0 Turbo. Actually not a bad engine, 272HP, good low-end torque, 0-60 in under 6 seconds.

I know they have age limits. In upstate NY I know it’s 15 years. I’ll have to ask my son about mileage. His 2010 Ford will age out in 2025 after which I’ll move it into my hooptie fleet. As far as multiple lights on the dash, in NY the car has to pass inspection every year to be on the road and I guess the ride share companies accept that. Either IL doesn’t have those inspections or the driver was trying to ride that pony to the bitter end.

Came that way. That’s why I went with silver wrap instead of trying to match the blue. The silvers are definitely different, buy the illusion is aided by those panels not being adjacent.
