Ferrari was this year's Christmas movie; my son and I really liked it, and Mrs. RB was also impressed. It did earn its R rating, primarily due to language and violence.

We watched Violent Night on prime after Chinese food for dinner. If you want a grown up version of Home Alone of sorts, I highly recommend.

@28firefighter - I'll have to check that out. I actually haven't watched the OG Home Alone in several years, so put that in the queue, as well. Currently re-watching Boardwalk Empire and really forgot how good it was--especially the first 2-3 seasons.

Yes! On the way home we stopped at two Chinese restaurants, but they were packed- with long waits for carry out as well. On a hunch my wife called our local Chinese restaurant (which is normally closed on Mondays) and they were open! So, we ended up with Chinese after all.

We may get carry-out next year. This year, my dad smoked a turkey on Christmas Eve, which turned out really well, and we had store bought baked country ham (which my late grandmother always referred to as "city ham," only the fried country ham was referred to as "country ham"), green beans, corn which was cut off the cob and frozen during the summer, dressing, and orange cake.

I finally watched that for the first time this year, too. Far more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

An even better one is The Fat Man. Really entertaining and the end was especially satisfying.

Send me an invite next year. I’m kinda getting tired of Chinese on Christmas. Seems to be the only restaurants open on Christmas.

I'll put that on the list, but I must warn you that the whole shebang was delayed due to the dressing not being done (and would have been delayed further, had I not bravely increased the oven temperature and switched to convection cooking, without proper authorization).

Dressing is one of the best side dishes when cooking turkey for a meal. So it’s good to hear you saved the day.

There is nothing wrong with thinking outside of the box to get things done. I’ve done that so many times I don’t even think of it as thinking outside of the box, just a way to the job done.

Movies and Chinese are our go to on X-Mas (If ya know, ya know). I decided to buck the tradition this year. Yes we watched movies. Home Alone is still enjoyable with commercials on network TV, then we watched Christmas Vacation on Amazon Prime. This was Sunday night. Yesterday, my wife had to work, so I took the kids to see Aquaman. It was a decent super hero movie with a lot of action, excellent special effects, and a relatable story.

I've been experimenting a lot lately with cooking. I've got our staples down (Tacos, Turkey Burgers, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Chicken Cutlets). I've had some big wins (a pan fried pork chop recipe by Gordon Ramsey and some things that don't come out so well. Last night was one of those nights. Instead of ordering Chinese, I decided I was going to make fried chicken. It came ok just OK. Cooked perfectly. Chicken was moist, but it wasn't crispy and sort of on the bland side. Edible, yes. Good, no. So tonight we are going to order in Chinese food.

Just to keep things relevant, no card punches in the stocking for us. Its rough out there. I see dealers are legitimately discounting right on their websites as opposed to listing every incentive that doesn't stack and nobody qualifies for. The programs are just out there.

You need something to balance the heat, without the spiciness overwhelming the beer. Hoppy IPAs and sour beers are perfect with spicy asian food.

Also, with every other food known to man..

Those both sound vile to me. Hopefully the hop madness among craft brewers will implode under its own weight. Sometimes you just want to drink a beer, not a 10-car pileup on your taste buds.

Watching the NFL marathons over the weekend I was taking note of the number of vehicle sales incentive ads that were running here in Canada. Chevy Silverados were offering 0% financing. Ram pickups were offering "up to" $9700 in incentives. Acura is offering a few discounted leasing rates on SUVs and some modest incentives as well. Ford offers 2.99% on Escapes and Bronco Sports. Cadillac is offering various subsidized financing of most models. VW has some slight incentives on Taos and Tiguan (4.99/5.99%), and Jeep is offering 5% off MSRP on the Compass. So not much really great, but things seem to be thawing a bit.

They find you anywhere. My wife’s sister inherited a family house when their father died (grandparents built it in the early 50s, her uncle had it when we started dating, when he died in the late 80s her parents got it, and eventually about 20 years ago the sister)

Sister just dropped off mail that came there to my wife’s maiden name. a name she has not used for 38 years to an address she never lived at. Very weird.
