Back in 6th grade, my friends and I were into freestyle bikes. I swear that's the exact GT Performer I wanted. Walked into the bike shop with my Mom. The guy suggested I get a Ross Piranha (Definitely nowhere near as cool) that was actually cheaper than the GT. It had the gyro to spin the handle bars as well as pegs on the front/rear. A day or 2 before 7th grade, which was the day of orientation, my sister was at a birthday party not too far from my house. Mom thought it was too cold out and sent me with a pair of sweatpants to give my sister. I sped down the driveway and took the turn too fast. The handle bars spun and I fell off the bike. Threw out my arms to break my fall and broke both of my wrists at the same time. Not a good way to start out Junior High School.

I actually called to make an appointment to see the car and was told it wouldn’t be available for at least a couple weeks due to some insurance claim issue.
The salesperson wasn’t sure but thinks there was some incident within the parking lot or during a test drive. She’ll let me know when it’s available to look at, but obviously I no longer have any interest in this particular one.
So I tried!
I’m just not sure that the words purple, Audi, BEV and buy go in the same sentence 😎
Is it like the Blazer EV color that looks grey in some lights and purple in others?
Ahhhhh.....I see Edmunds finally got the forums fixed. Thanks.
I sort of like that purple color.
Am still in "shopping for an EV" mode. Decided to lease, as we really have seen some dismal resale on the EVs, that I'd rather not be stuck with.
I like the Blazer EV. But boy, the forum reports on them have been scathing. Seems GM hasn't figured out the software bugaboos. I do like the Honda Prologue, too. But, it seems their implementation is different than GM's. Wonder if that makes a difference. They both drive "big". Not sure if that's good or bad because the low center of gravity helps them track.
Ionic 5 Limited and Kia EV6 seem to be rated highly. Quirky designs, though. Anyone have any experience with what those lease for?
@graphicguy - we shopped the Ioniq5 Limited AWD last month and were quoted roughly $380/month with just first payment due, before taxes, for a 24 month lease. That included a $5,000 EV credit for Colorado though.
The Ioniq5 is a great vehicle and honestly, probably a better car. But it felt kinda boring to drive. Also, although it looks big, it’s really more of a compact vehicle, and the front and back legroom were about the same as the Sportage. We wanted something that would easily fit those humongous car seats, and would have good room for 5. Oddly we never thought about how someone on crutches with a badly broken leg would find the Blazer front passenger seats so comfortable, as happened when our son visited this summer! So for us the Blazer works better. No software glitches since they fixed them last spring. I know folks with the Ioniq and they love them. It’s all in what works for you.
I think you should buy the Blazer just so we can all watch the inevitable buyback process unfold here.
Boy...that's a really good point. While I loved my Tahoe, that was from many years ago. GM vehicles have been problematic, for certain. And, I don't want to go through that nightmare, again. First year model EV from GM? What could go wrong?

It’s interesting. We never owned any GM vehicles our whole driving lives. Then we took a chance on the Buick Encore, because at the time no one made that kind of subcompact SUV. Similarly we got the Chevy Volt because it was really the only PHEV at the time with a decent range. Both cars turned out to be the most reliable cars we’ve ever owned. So we are feeling really positive about GM these days. Once again, they are making a true midsize SUV EV, hard to find anywhere else. So like the ABBA song, I’m taking a chance on them.

I test drove a Camaro SS 1LE in 2015 and really enjoyed the car. It was even equipped properly- Recaros, 3 pedals, and no hole in the roof. Unfortunately, an M1 Abrams has better outward visibility. Still, it was a lot of fun, and probably the last GM vehicle I'll seriously consider- not because they are bad, but because nothing in their current lineup interests me in the slightest- and the same can be said about Audi and BMW.

New setup on the Sienna-
Didn’t like the stock wheels and OE tires. Switched to the new Geolander CV4S. These just came out so there’s not many reviews yet. It’s an all weather tire with a blockier tread pattern, but made with a LRR compound.
I’m hoping it gives me a better tire for reaching trailheads with less of an efficiency hit than an all terrain tire would have. And I went with a 30” diameter, giving me a little more clearance.
@tifighter - my Tahoe had Geolandar A/Ts, and I never slipped and slid in snow, so I never had to engage 4WD (I did check it once a year to make sure it worked). Does the 30” diameter result in a speedo error?

Yeah, it was actually off by around 3mph before, now it’s about dead on, if the gps can be believed.
Tires are about 3 lbs heavier than the OE tires, but the new wheels are 4 lbs lighter than the originals while maintaining the load rating, so we’re looking pretty good overall.

I have no issues with the Blazer EV. I think Chevy has kind of nailed the size and amenities for an EV. I never thought the smaller vehicles were where an EV was needed the most. It's the SUV/Pickup market, where MPG is dismal, that would benefit the most.
I'm also happy to hear yours has been trouble free. A little gun shy given what I've read in the Blazer EV forums. Seems there are issues and many reports of buybacks. Plus, there was the "stop sale". It doesn't instill confidence.
But, from what I've read, none of the issues were drive train related. IT's mostly been software/firmware focused.
Test drove a Honda Prologue again last night. Interesting that aside from the exterior styling, the steering, suspension and user interface are different than the Blazer EV. Some of the interior styling is different, too. Still, there is plenty of pieces from GM there, too (HVAC controls, window switches).
But, you get a sunroof and Apple Car Play in addition to the difference in driving/steering/braking dynamics.
Honda sales guy said they have had no issues with the Prologue. But, what else would you expect him to say.
Final note.....I hope what I fear isn't true, but @Michaell and @kyfdx has been absent for a little bit, and the forum software has gone glitchy, and our "other" forum hangout has been closed down. This seems ominous.

We aren't absent - we're just answering the 100's of questions that have come in in the last day or so as new lease programs have been released. I'd say more than 50% of them are for EVs, by the way, as the incentives are too good to pass up.

BMW and Audi are catering to the fast land yacht buying crowd. They don't actually want a fast car that requires a driver, they just want something that goes fast in a straight line mostly.

The most annoying thing about the Ariya is that it slams on the (regenerative) brakes on mild to moderate interstate curves when cruise control is on. It seems like tapping the accelerator pedal overrides it, but only for that single curve. Really a WTF moment when I’m trying to pass someone, have the cruise set on 75, and it’s a curve not severe enough to be marked with road signs.

I was able to get some time behind the wheel of the Mach-E GT that Mrs @breld had.
I’ve driven some fast cars - Mustang GT, Camaro SS (both with sticks), and some supercars like the Audi R8 and a Lamborghini.
The Mach-E puts them all to shame with straight line acceleration. I was scared when I gave it full throttle.
I’d rather trade some of that speed for more range, IMO. Nobody needs an EV that goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds; 7 or 8 is perfectly acceptable in day to day driving conditions.

Agree with you.
Actually drove a Lexus RZ 400e tonite. Really well done. Range and charging times is its achilles heal. Dealer WEB site said $18,500 in incentives. Asked for numbers. They were off by by about $3.300 high. Quizzed them and they threw out some mumbo jumbo that made no sense. Left with a sour impression.

it seems to me like there should be a way to pick range or speed (other than, well, not pushing the "gas" pedal so hard). I know battery size makes a big difference but it must not be the only thing. I guess though the big motors are going to always be sucking up efficiency.

I think a lot of it is in the programming too. I can buy for $60 a month, extra acceleration (about a second faster to 60). They give you a free trial month so I plan to do it at two months before lease end.

Agreed. The NY Auto Show had a test ride within the building where they would blast from wall to wall inside the Javits Center. I don’t know the exact acceleration figures but it sure felt as blisteringly fast as a Tesla I briefly drove.
The Kona is zippy but nowhere near as fast. It also has so much torque that it tends to spin one front wheel on takeoff.

I don’t miss the acceleration of previous EVs we’ve had (Mach E-GT, Polestar 2, Teslas, etc.) one bit.
My Q8 E-tron is probably in the 6’s or 7’s as far as 0-60 times, and that’s plenty quick. The immediacy of the response and smoothness of the acceleration are key for me.

My test drives of the Blazer EV and the Prologue have convinced me that the reviewers who said they had mediocre acceleration really aren't well versed in the perofrmance of Trucks and SUVs. Short of the Jeep SRTs, they are way faster than any ICE equipped vehicles I've ever driven.
According to Motortrend: "Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph happens in 6.0 seconds, which not surprisingly matches that of its dual-motor Chevrolet Blazer EV RS AWD cousin."
Maybe 0-30 is faster than what you are used to but by 60 it's falling behind. Quarter mile is 14.8 @93 mph.

Claimed 0-60 times for the Stingray are in the high 2's, which is crazy, and not something I've actually confirmed. So it actually would keep up with these EVs, but it's just an entirely different experience, as you would expect. Much more visceral.
I once had a Tesla Model 3 next to me at a stoplight when I had the Supra. When the light turned green, he took off as if we were in a race. I didn't bother. If you're just after the thrill of a ultra fast 0-60, you can find it all day long in a reasonably priced EV. And some of them handle quite well too. But you miss out on the feel and sound and connection of the more traditional sports cars. It's kind of akin to having a manual...it doesn't get you there faster, but it offers a more engaging experience.
I like having both.
Having said that, I'd like to try out a Taycan to see if it blends the best of both worlds.

I think it might be a bug, or I take the corners too fast. I too had the idiotic curve-slowing, and switched it off - but the car still slows in curves beyond a certain angle if I am using distronic.

Mostly aggravation. You’re gonna like this new place, at least, for a while.
Now to fix CCBA.

Is Edmunds dropping the forums? Serious question…support and infrastructure for the forums seems to be going away!

We aren't going anywhere, and the C&C thread was closed due to its size. Some of you have been around long enough to remember when we had to create a new thread when the old one reached 100K posts.

Great to hear. I'm sure you know the "vanilla" software thing is still an issue, too. Appreciate all the hard work you guys do.

Still, impressive acceleration, ride, handling, braking.
Prologue value and overall performance still impresses me. Still want to drive the Hyundai Ionic again!

The C43 has what M-B calls "Route-Based Speed Adaptation"- when enabled the cruise control automatically slows the car down to a ridiculously low speed for curves. When I first got the car that "feature" was enabled and it about drove me nuts. I drilled down through a couple of menus and turned it off- never to be activated again

I think a lot of it is in the programming too. I can buy for $60 a month, extra acceleration (about a second faster to 60). They give you a free trial month so I plan to do it at two months before lease end.

The Kona is zippy but nowhere near as fast. It also has so much torque that it tends to spin one front wheel on takeoff.

My Q8 E-tron is probably in the 6’s or 7’s as far as 0-60 times, and that’s plenty quick. The immediacy of the response and smoothness of the acceleration are key for me.
I do miss the true one-pedal driving though.

————————————————Next up, for $70 a month, one second better stopping time from 60 to 0. Wait for it.

"Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph happens in 6.0 seconds, which not surprisingly matches that of its dual-motor Chevrolet Blazer EV RS AWD cousin."
Maybe 0-30 is faster than what you are used to but by 60 it's falling behind.
Quarter mile is 14.8 @93 mph.
