Well, the Ariya made a liar out of me... it does have auto high beams, but they aren't turned on by default. There's a button on the end of the stalk you're supposed to press to turn them on. I'm not sure whether the setting will persist when it's powered off.
Also, the charger it came with has a very short cord between the wall outlet and box, so I was using a short appliance extension cord to allow the box to sit on the floor of the garage. I noticed the extension cord was getting very hot, so I switched to a heavier (but longer) outdoor extension cord. That one was longer than I needed, and was getting warm (but not as hot as the appliance cord). I ordered a short 10/3 three prong extension from Amazon, which looks almost as thick as a garden hose, and am pleased to report it doesn't get warm at all.
I bought this one at Lowe's; $21.98:

I’m starting to feel the pull toward that used Merlin Purple Audi e-tron GT. That it is loaded with all the packages (prestige, performance, leather, etc) and an exclusive color and cool unique interior color are strong draws for me.
And…they just reduced the price by a whole $1k! What is one to do?
The day is over and this car is still up on the dealer website.
Disappointed.
I actually called to make an appointment to see the car and was told it wouldn’t be available for at least a couple weeks due to some insurance claim issue.
The salesperson wasn’t sure but thinks there was some incident within the parking lot or during a test drive. She’ll let me know when it’s available to look at, but obviously I no longer have any interest in this particular one.
I took day trips yesterday and today and had three DCFC experiences. None were without hiccups: 1. EA charger on the south side of Indianapolis. Wouldn't let me tap to pay with the EA app. I charged as a guest using my credit card. No idea how much it cost, since I didn't get a receipt and my card just has a $50 preauthorization. 2. EV Connect charger in Seymour, Indiana. Gave me an error "authenticate with the app to stop charging" when I tried to stop. Just like the EV Connect charger in Corydon, Indiana. I hit the emergency stop and it let me disconnect. $19.37 for 37.49 kWh. 3. EA charger near my house. This one was helpful in that it told me the tap to pay with the EA app function wasn't working, but that I could manually start the charge with the EA app. That part worked flawlessly. For some reason, EA thinks I still have an active Pass Plus subscription, even though I cancelled effective August 7. This one was a steal - $0.33 per minute. I got 38.8 kWh over 26 minutes for $9.13. I'll definitely stop here again if I get home with a low charge and plan to drive the Ariya the next day. If I charge to about 80%, the level 1 charger will get it near 100% overnight.
Ive been charging at the EA stations near my house until i can get the 240v installed in my garage. Its been a mixed bag, mainly because the screen instructions arent very intuitive. The stations all work pretty well. I’d say 95% of my fellow chargers are nice, but a few have been real jerks.
I think gas station manners have been pretty established, charging manners are still being worked out.
My math might be off but I roughly figured 38KWH will get somewhere between 70 to 150 miles in an EV depending on efficiency according to some quick research. Based on what you paid on your 2 charging events that would result in a per mile cost of between $ .06 per mile to over $.10 for the $9.13 charge and double the cost per mile for the $19.37 charge or $.12 to over $.20 per mile. An ICE vehicle going 150 miles and achieving 25MPG which is comparable to the distance traveled on 40KWH in an efficient EV would use 6 gallons of gas. At $3.50 per gallon that would be $21 or $.21 per mile.
If the ICE vehicle is a hybrid approaching 50MPG the cost per mile would be around $.10 per mile. Unless the cost of electricity is much less while charging at home I don't see the cost advantage in EVs. Like I said unless I am missing something or my math is off I am open to be proven wrong.

@greg1288 - I don't think your math is off, but most EV charging is done at home, where the cost of electricity is much less than a DC fast charger. You pay for the convenience with those. And, if you start a day trip with a full battery (charged at home), spend a little time and $$$ fast charging, and return home with a fairly low charge, you still come out ahead, because most of your charging was done at home. On longer trips, if you can stay at a hotel that offers free Level 2 charging, you can start the next day with a full charge.
Cost is much less charging at home. Also gas costs depend on your state. We haven’t seen gas at $3.50 in California in a long time. I’ve never paid anywhere near as much to charge as it used to cost when I had a ICE vehicle. Still, charging cost is only one part of owning an EV. Maintenance is generally lower. Even setting environmental benefits aside (and I don’t want to get into those issues here) I personally think they are better cars.
In my area electricity is going for about $.25/ kWh with a planned increase of 20% thanks to green energy mandates so shortly to be $.30/kWh. Predictions are that costs will rise another 30% as cheaper fossil fuel power plants are decommissioned.
How much would it cost to charge your cars @ $.375/ kWh.?
That’s one of the things I would have to know before going to an EV.

@suydam, What's pretty good range? I drove my Explorer ST from Madison, WI to Cleveland, OH in 6 1/2 hours, 466 miles, didn't stop to fuel up. Learned that dropping the cruise from 77 to 75 adds a lot to your range.

There are EVs that get long range, but we are happy with the Blazer’s 280+. We wouldn’t drive that long without stopping anyway. We’ve learned that for us a road trip is way less stressful that way. And we are both retired. We’re not in a hurry.
My wife can't make it longer than 3 - 3.5 hours... So, 225-250 miles is all we're going to go, at any rate. Of course, depending on meals, etc... that might only be a 10 minute stop, so not conducive to charging.

@breld - I don't know if you are still looking for Etron GTs or Taycans, but a few of the LH brokers have some very strong deals right now. The only downside is you won't get the CO credit because the dealers are out of state. Just an example:

So, they've had it on their lot two months... What's the endgame--they send a very nice, clean car to the auction and take a huge hit because they can't find a retail customer willing to pay their price?
The Ioniq 5 is growing on me. There was one parked near me at one of my DC fast charging stops last weekend... Is it bad that I'm already looking at a replacement for when the Ariya goes back over a year from now?
