I don't have that paperwork, but it basically went like this:
$45k agreed price
$1400 tax
$25k residual
$2750 incentives
$14k trade value
$14k trade payoff
So it is pretty apparent that the tax was on the full $20k depreciation with no regard to the incentives or the trade. As best as I can tell, it is some problem with their software. It either isn't set for Jersey law or it is negating the trade due to the payoff (again, goes against jersey law, though).
BTW, anybody know how the hell to get a line break without an extra line space? I can't make that list above without the extra line spaces.

Funny, I stopped at a Buick/GMC dealer on my way home from my son's little league game. They had a Silver AWD Regal (nt sure which model). I liked the styling of the car. The silver just makes it look kinda blah. $40K sticker (Yikes!).

Yes... at the end of your line put:

Altogether... the left caret, then br, then the right caret.. that gives you a line break, without leaving a double space... took me two months to find that out.
I know this will send chills up the backs of just about everyone here, but we also purchased a lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty. Yup. Lifetime! Hell, the AC repair I just did would have eaten up almost the whole cost of this warranty if I had the work done at the dealership.

With the lease on my Regal ending in October, I took some time today to cruise a few lots and see what tickled my fancy. I was surprised.
I visited a couple of Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealers and here is where the surprise for me was found. Two opposite extremes. The Lexus dealer had a bunch of new ES350s and I am shocked to say I really liked what I saw. They had one in particular in red with a tan interior that looked really good. I know it is an old man's car but I'm retired now so maybe that's why it appealed to me. Only thing I didn't like is that the 17" wheel/tire combo looked a bit undersized but that could be fixed. The interior is gorgeous on these.
Yup - that new ES is a nice all-around vehicle. The increase in backseat room from previous versions is incredible. I agree on the 17" wheels - not too hard to find one with the "luxury" package, which comes with the 18" wheels, as well as the perforated leather seats that are heated and cooled.
Traveling on business this week in Austin and Dallas. Requested a full size rental car since there are three of us traveling and we're driving from Austin to Dallas. Was told we'd be getting an impala, which I was pretty excited about.....until they brought up a previous model version.
Ended up opting for a Camry instead - bummer.
Noticed another rental car company had an M5 available. Can't imagine what the rate is for that!

That's always been my experience when trading out of a lease. With that you are just hoping to break even of course. I haven't seen one of the new 200s in the flesh yet, but saw a commercial for one on TV last night. I kept thinking I was looking at a Kia. Not sure I like the current Chrysler design language as shown on this and the Dart.
The new Chrysler 200s are much improved. Looks are not bad. Is this vehicle in the category of a mazda6, or Accord/ Fusion?... Hell no. If your driven by price this is a good car to lease for 3 yrs and give back . I have not looked into the numbers but figuring this cars depreciation value and getting a good discount would make a lease attractive on this model.
Buying and keeping this vehicle long term may be asking for trouble.

That's how my Q50 lease was as well, traditional amortization. That's why it made sense to buy it out, when I leased they had $3,250 in lease incentives that weren't available if you purchased, so my payoff was less after three months of leasing than if I had just bought the car outright in the beginning.
Apologies, as I posted this on the SFTSF board, but I'm trying to keep in Houdini1's good graces (as well as his will...). He had requested more stories, but I forget on which board, so, to be repetitively redundant:

Back in March, I was fortunate enough (as were all my cowokers) to receive an annual bonus based upon 2013 performance. WooHoo! Of course, it had already been spent on '13 taxes and my Feb. ski vacation with my son, but I decided to treat myself just a touch.
I'd been admiring a leather jacket at Jos A. Bank for a couple of years and, as it was approaching the end of the season, I caught it on sale for 80% off. Plus, I had a gift card I used, so my out of pocket on this very expensive MSRP jacket was only about 11% of that mythical MSRP. My road to sharp-dressed man transformation begins...
Shotly thereafter, I received a thank you note from Joe Bank, with a $20 gift card enclosed. So, back I went, straight to the clearance racks and picked up two (again, mythical pricey MSRP) nice button down shirts, total out of pocket: $9.
Shortly thereafter, I received a thank you note from Joe B, with a $30 gift card (for a $9 net purchase! Suuuweeet!). So, again mounting my trusty steed, off I went to Joe's house. Picked up a swanky sportcoat (I never wear them, but my last purchase of such an item was from a clothier that closed shop in the '80s or '90s. Maybe some day I'll do something grown up which requires gentleman to wear jackets...) and another nice button down shirt. Out of pocket, a slightly more painful $23. But, the Unicorn-ish MSRP for these two items was over $500.
So, now I await/hope for another thank you and gift card from Jos A. If the sartorial gravy train has stopped, thank you for the good times. Now, if only I could meet a fine woman who, in the words of the poet, ZZ Top, is crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man!

From my experience, you would want something extremely comfortable to drive in Austin. Lots of sitting around and not moving. The M5 would be fun on the new toll road with the 85 mph limit and very little traffic.
The Impala Limited (old Impala) is a comfortable cruiser, but the W-body platform is dated.

I know how that goes! We buy Orijen Senior for our dog. Horridly expensive stuff (~$80 for less than 30#, or about one bag a month), but it made an amazing difference in the dog. I almost wish we didn't buy it, as I suspect our old girl would have kicked the bucket by now, but so be it!

I can get a $1000 Ultimate Drive Credit just for signing up. So let's see: $1,000 Ultimate Drive + $1,500 Build Out + $500 BMWCCA = $3,000 worth of incentives on an X1.

Still lusting over the CT200h that I drove a few times at Carmax...real sweet vehicle even with a pre-owned one but the challenging egress/ingress put the final nail in the coffin for me. I was ready to spend the funds on a model one or two years old because I really loved everything about it but the basic reason for purchasing new was to make things easier for my bad spine so made no sense at all to purchase one. Besides, the wife and middle kid would've killed me since they both thought I should've kept the Civic for another few years since it had miles in the mid 40's. In hind sight, I probably should've waited another 6 or so months and driven all the CUV's a few more times but heck, it's all history now.
I am very intrigued by the new Honda model coming out next year as a 2015 model...looks stunning and very BMW 1ish. Am betting it'll price out at about $28k for a nicely equipped model so now am thinking about keeping the Tuscon till about it gets to just under 50k and see what I can do. All depending on how it looks in person and more importantly, how it drives. It's calling me just like the 200CTh did and figuring by 2018 or so depending on our situation, it might just be a go...by then I'll only be supporting the wife and myself and it'll be just that much less I leave to the three rugrats!

An M Sport is only $900 more, primarily because you can only get heated seats on a M Sport and you cannot spec the CWP.
With the credits and such it now becomes a tempting family runabout for Mrs. RB.
The sport line has black mirror caps? They look cheap. That's weird that you can't get the full cold weather package with the M-sport. It's difficult to notice the difference in wheel size--I'm guessing 1"?
Both wheels are 18". The M Sport also gets the M bodykit and the sport suspension. I think that the reason you can't get the CWP on the M Sport is because the M Sport steering wheel isn't heated.

Yeah, but the faux leather used currently is not the plasticky stuff from the past. My daughter had a MINI with black leather-like material, and you were hard pressed to tell the difference from the real stuff. In fact, her new MINI has real leather, and they seem remarkably the same (other than the $1500 price tag, of course).

Speaking of MB Cabrios and such, anyone hear from @mark156 in awhile? Maybe he's out touring in the RV.

I think of Mark156 often and every time I pass a fancy motorhome on our travels, I wonder if it's him. He seems to have dropped off the radar about the time we switched forum software.
I was in roadburner's old stomping grounds this morning. Lots of one way streets. Got my business taken care of very quickly and efficiently, though!
And stopped at the regional pet store on the way home and spent $$ on grain free food and anti-shedding treatment for the pup. Nothing but the best for her!
"For the second straight year, Porsche ranked highest in initial quality among all brands, with the fewest problems. Jaguar came in second in the nameplate ranking, followed by Lexus and Hyundai. Fiat was at the bottom of the list."
Jaguar came in second. Pace with Grace continues its return. There shall always be an England!

God save the queen!
Thankfully, my dog only eats a little over a cup per day. I think the weight/food charts they publish are made up by the pet food companies to get people to overfeed. When I tried to feed her the suggested amount, she got so full that she wouldn't eat for a day!
I buy higher quality stuff for the dog than the kids. He's nicer to me!

The vultures are circling:
Just yesterday I got a postcard (as an Acura owner, time to update your list) from the local Lexus dealer telling me to come in and test drive the CT200h.
I also got one of those "we need your 2011 BMW 3 series" letters from the local MB dealer. Yeah, right. Sure you need my 43,000 mile 2011 328xi much more than the thousands out there with 1/2 the miles;)

2 month right? getting to be crunch time!
Let me know if you have shopping planned in Rockland. I need to get up at some point to check on the old folks. I can follow behind and run interference. Must be some way for a ringer shopper to help out!

@stickguy
Thanks! I'll let you know if I need a wing man;)
DAMN YOU BMW! Your juicy incentives are what pulled me in (don't get me wrong, I'm loving every minute of it). I got an offer to attend the BMW Ultimate Drive event @ The Meadowlands.
I can get a $1000 Ultimate Drive Credit just for signing up. So let's see: $1,000 Ultimate Drive + $1,500 Build Out + $500 BMWCCA = $3,000 worth of incentives on an X1.
Or $1,000 ULTIMATE Drive + $1,000 Eco Credit + $1,250 Bonus Cash + $500 BMWCCA Rebate = $3,750 worth of incentives on a 328xd.

So...
I built a decent X1 2015 X1 xDrive28i on the NA site:
Sport Line, Alpine White, Black Sensatec(vinyl)
Cold Weather Package
Lighting Package
H-K Sound-
MSRP: $38,000

Just built an X1 -
$36,650 MSRP
It is a 2015 & it looks like the incentives are on 2014s (for now)
2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR 4WD
Just built a 328xd
Alpine White - Black Sensatec - Lighting Pkg - Heated Front Seats - HK
$43,800 MSRP
This would be way over budget. Unless the lease program favors it over the X1

With black vinyl interiors now in new cars, it seems automotive interior design has regressed to about 1968.
2017 Cadillac ATS Performance Premium 3.6
Yeah, but the faux leather used currently is not the plasticky stuff from the past. My daughter had a MINI with black leather-like material, and you were hard pressed to tell the difference from the real stuff. In fact, her new MINI has real leather, and they seem remarkably the same (other than the $1500 price tag, of course).
