You can reject ads that are spam or violate the Craigslist TOS. There are little things to click on in the upper right corner of the ad. One guy was selling his car as "parts only, no title" because he was upside-down and wasn't going to pay off the bank to get the title. I don't know, but that sounds like theft to me. I clicked that it violated the TOS to sell stolen property.
Oh this is an old scam....when you ask about the car they either need a deposit or the car is presently not in Dallas but is in Guatemala at my summer home and send a deposit and it'll be up here next week or my uncle was a Nigerian general, blah blah blah...
Yeah, there is one going around right now on a Z06 Vette. A guy at work decided to reply and we had bets on how it would go down. Sure enough, the 'owner' was out of town, so the car was not available for inspection. But, if he would send 5% of the price to an "escrow" account, he could then pick up the car and have it inspected before paying in full. Of course, the same ad showed the Vette to be in Maryland, California, Wisconsin, etc.
Bidding now at $300 some but the "reserve has not been met." It hasn't been started in a year, and so they don't know if it runs. It sounds like a Saab sob story...
Old Saabs: Very understandable why there's little bidding....on the 2-stroke cars, a crankshaft is simply unavailable. That's it, there are no more. So what do you do to rebuild the engine? That's right...MAKE a new crank. Yeah, sure, on a rusty car that needs a full resto? I don't think so. As for the 1968 car, which is a V-4, that's better but still being "rough around the edges" as the seller says condemns it to the wrecking yard. The weakness on these cars was the transmission...and a trickly devil to rebuild, too! As for the 1995 model, the $200 bid states the obvious---who cares about a car like this? Exactly....
Olds Wagon--looks like a real good buy for $1,000
'67 Ford Pickup -- looks like it was painted with a spray can. Not a good sign. Still, these were good 'ol trucks. The big 6 was a gas hog though, I think a 302 would be better.
Baur BMW: worth $13,000 when restored? I don't think so. This isn't a 2002.
Bavaria: they are such slugs....but the guy did swap out for Weber carbs--which will suck gas like a camel at the oasis but at least can be made to run right.
I had a blue one, and maybe a red one too. It was destroyed long ago though...that targa roof bar made it an easy target to be tied to a string and used as a weapon lol.
Well, that one at least intrigues me as a first car for my son. Cheap, SLow, safe and a 5 speed. Of course, I would be rolling th edice on repairs, but I do have a masochist streak when it comes to old cars!
I wouldn't pay a lot, but assuming the car is legit as described, for 1K or so, heck yeah!
don't worry. with 5 days left, there is more than enough time for ebay stupidity to kick in and someone will get all weepy-eyed over this thing and pony up $1500 for it.

I've seen Accords from about that time with 2 to 3 times the miles on them go for c.$1500. A Saab is less reliable, and more expensive to repair, but are they really worth less than an Accord with 180k +? Hard to say. I'm just glad I can afford a new Accord, and don't have to buy used junkers anymore. But that 95 Saab looks pretty good to me if you're on a tight budget.
Yeah but the Saab will kill you in repair costs. Mechanics hate them, nobody wants to work on them, and parts prices are very high. You'll be the pariah of your once-favorite repair shop.
Nice looking van. My grandparents had an '86 that was some odd-ball Texas special custom edition for the 150 anniversary of the state. They sold it a few years ago (maybe 2003?) and it had 26,000 miles on it (plus change).

Thinking about that 95 Saab made me think that 20 years ago there was a big difference in safety between a European car like a Volvo and an Accord. A 1987 Accord handled well, and had some good engineering, but was still a fairly flimsy car (in my opinion) compared to a Volvo. By 1994, however, when the Accord got side-impact protection and dual airbags, the difference between an Accord and a Volvo (or other European make) had shrunk rapidly. I'm just making up these numbers, but if a 1987 Accord was 70% as safe as a Volvo of the same year, a 1994 Accord EX (with abs) was 90% as safe as a Volvo. Today, (and perhaps I'm wrong) I don't think there's any meaningful safety difference at all between an Accord and most European cars of the same size. Even the least expensive Accord has ABS, 6 airbags, etc.
I haven't seen a '72 Centurion in a long, long time! I thought it was kinda cool that they were still carrying on the old "Century" tradition of putting a big engine in a (relatively) small car, in this case, the Electra 455 in the smaller LeSabre body.
In the end though, I guess it doesn't really mean much, since you could just order a LeSabre with an optional 455 if you really wanted to.
It's funny, but I think the Buick looks really good with that sloping roofline, but I never cared for the occasional Impala with that roof. I think the Impala looked better with the more common, formal, Custom roofline, the one with the concave rear window.
If it wasn't so far away (and if I hadn't just discovered some problems on both my Intrepid and pickup that are going to need fixing real soon ), I'd be really tempted by that one.
Yeah, I thought the '71-72 big Buicks were especially good looking. Very clean and handsome. And I'd imagine that the 455 still had some kick to it around that time, as well. Probably down from its peak years, but still not to the point that it could barely break 200 hp.
One of our managers picked up a Range Rover like that. Then he sunk a bunch of money into fixing the air suspension in it, cause the rear started totally sagging.
Mechanics REALLY hate working on these and so do body shops. They have several layers of metal. As Land Rovers age, they turn into junk! I'll bet that air suspension cost a fortune!
Hahaha, well, speaking of a "Craig's list optimist," I know of one of those who just posted a red car of some sort....
Hey, easy now!! I reposted it and dropped the price to $1500, have a couple people interested. One guy knows the car from about 5 years ago and is very interested in it, he wanted it back then but couldn't get it.
Hahahahaha, I was most assuredly joking! It was just too much to resist, though. :P
We shall see soon enough about my own optimism. I will be trying to get rid of my old cab-over camper to make space for the '76 F250 and I hope I can get enough to pay for the time and gas to move it off my property.

You know, I have always liked the Rivieras and Toronados from that era. They were smooth, quiet cars that were just a nice size. Not too big and clumsy and pretty nimble.
1985 was the last year before they rounded them out and made them ugly.

A quick and dirty check says $25 - $28K without accounting for condition or low miles.

You can add Audi and Volvo to that list as well but Saab leads the pack.
The guys who WILL work on them will charge you accordingly and for good reason.
Volvo made a big deal about safety back when few people cared. The other auto makers learned a lot from them.
I'm sure the best one in the world isn't worth this
This should be a barrel of fun
Andre/lemko-mobile, I always thought this was a good name for a car

$3,500 for a Daewoo though. Hahah! More like $1000-to-1500 - it is tough to sell a car who's brand has fallen off the wagon.
No...wait...they shut down five years ago!
Talk about a marginal brand trying to elbow it's way into a crowded marketplace!
Talk about a money pit!!

hehehe, thanks for getting my back!!
I was being very optimistic as to what I could get out of that darn car. I guess anything I get out of it is profit since I own it for nothing.
A money pit to scare away even Range Rover enthusiasts
This could be fun for someone
Purple with a PINK fade?
WHY?
I think that's a piston coming through the hood.
WHY?
He didn't even have the sense to start with a 2-Door.>
WHY?
Uhm, "yellow, ostrich interior. 22's" Great!
This has to be a joke
Exactly how difficult is a t-belt jon on one of those?
ANYTHING under the hood looks like a B***H to get to!
Stuff like this is why GM had to reinvent Oldsmobile in the '90s.
Not without an engine swap, mama's boy.
Old, high mileage, neglected Benz. Just what I've always wanted!
$24? Uh huh. Sure.
1985 was the last year before they rounded them out and made them ugly.
