I generally like them too and I do like the way the owner resisted throwing catalog chrome junk on the engine with all of the internal changes to it. But I like these better in colors, not black, and for the money I don't like that the front seats have been redone incorrectly.

I saw two of these locally in the last while, a medium blue metallic that I think is THE color for one of these, and a metallic gold one. I prefer these in more vibrant colors.

I like that plain vanilla restomod Rambler American 220. If it's sorted out and if the underneath looks good then it could be a fun cruiser. 220 model had the full reclining seats too I think. Also note the tricky 401 emblems and be glad they upgraded to disc brakes.

I like the Formula better than the Trans Am as the Formula isn't as brash. No a/c is a big negative, but it was purchased in cooler temp area. It is interesting that the Formula has a speedometer that reads to 100mph, where most cars by then showed 80 or 85 as max speed on the dial.

Mathias, years ago I sold my Mazda 323 and drove it over to the new owners house (next town over). Then went to take the plates off. back one, the screws were so rusted on I could not get them off and I was in his driveway, so no access to my tool collection. Problem solved, I just started twisting it until it snapped off. left it up to him to figure out how to get the screws out.

Was running errands this morning and happened upon an '80's or '90's vintage Chevy pickup. First thing I noticed was all the rust along the bottom of the car - bed, fenders, whatever.

A glance at the license plate - yep! - Michigan.

So glad we don't use salt here in CO.

That conversion van is a cool survivor, what alarms me more than the price is that the seller has such detailed data, but apparently couldn't be bothered to clean the windshield.

Not using it like a salt belt state but CDOT says they use sand/salt mixtures and salt brine.

Winter in the Snowbelt means you need to wash your vehicle (including undercarriage) frequently. But unfortunately, it can often be too cold for the wash to be all that effective.

Caddy needs to lose the continental kit and get a new headliner. Not sure it would ever be more than a curiosity.

The Sportsroof needs a lot more pics and info to determine if it is even driveable, much less whether the price makes any sense. My first guess is that it doesn't.

The '79 Z-28 almost seems like a deal. I like it.

The '69 Camaro convertible makes me wonder. Aside from the wheels, the top looks more ivory-beige than white, and they guy couldn't be bothered to clean it up inside before he took pictures?

The Rambler wagon is the steal of the day.

I had a cousin who lived in Michigan for some time. Had a few opportunities to visit him. I really like the state, once you get out of Detroit.

Hadn't seen that Falcon two tone color set up before. Don't think too many were two tones. The Rambler wagon is pretty unusual. The 58-62 Rambler wagons were a fairly common sight in the Chicago area back in their day.

I liked the Caddy until I saw the continental kit. It has the preferred 5.7. I get tickled that Chevy used that same sport steering wheel in the Camaro as they did in the Vega GT. At least it was color keyed instead of black.

It's got the 400 Pontiac with an AT. I think all the T/As had the 403 Olds with AT. That makes the formula desirable

I agree that having a Pontiac engine in the Pontiac Formula is more desirable than having an Olds engine in the Pontiac. Yet, was the Pontiac 400 better than the Olds 403? They are both rated at 180-185 hp, with the Olds having a shorter stroke which would lead me to believe it could rev faster. I remember the bad press when it was discovered Olds was using the Chevy 350 instead of the Olds 350 in some of their downsized ‘77s. Mom’s ‘78 98 had the 403. It still ran well and didn’t use oil when they got rid of it in ‘90 with over 180k.

I had a 403 in my '79 Park Avenue. Unfortunately it was so smog-crippled and fitted with a ridiculous rear-end ratio for economy reasons that it never felt particularly powerful. The 403 also had siamesed cylinders to accommodate the large bore and and open-web bottom end which meant it wasn't an engine you wanted to rev too high. However I have read of ones being worked up to produce big HP. It strikes me as an engine that had a lot of unrealized potential. Certainly the inherent design of the Olds Rocket V8 was much stouter and more robust than the SBC.

The 1977 Pontiac L-78 400 had 180hp. Pontiac rated the optional W-72 400 at 200hp in '77 and 220hp in '78 and '79. No idea which one the CL 1978 Formula has but it makes a big difference. I think the '77 Pontiac Can Am also had the stronger W-72 400.

Very nice van. My grandparents had one (86) in a similar conversion. They had about 25,000 miles on it in 2007, and sold it for $8,000 at the time. Price is optimistic, as there is such a small market for them, but I would think, in this condition, that he could pull near $10K for it.

I took my son out in the Econoline for his first two driving lessons over the holiday weekend. The look on his face after his first couple minutes was priceless. Even after telling him that this van was no walk in the park to drive, I believe he underestimated just how challenging it would be.

To his credit, he is picking it up well and also very much respecting the machine itself in terms of the dangers associated with driving. Some comments I found quite amusing:

"Driving this thing slowly seems to be more a matter of less brake than more gas."
"Am I really doing this right now? Am I really driving the van down our road?!"
"Dad, watching you drive didn't really prepare me for how hard it is to steer."

I think his next shock is going to come when he gets to drive something else and realizes that everything else is a breeze.

That's kind of how I did it - I did a lot of driving practice in a 60 Ford wagon and 66 Galaxie. I took my test in a nearly new Sunbird - the smaller car made it a breeze.

I've seen the wood on many an 80s XJ with cracked varnish, sometimes flaking off. No doubt a lot cheaper to cover in leather/pleather than restore correctly.

I like the 240z. Looks like a solid base. Really like the Alfa, with enough spare parts to make another one. And I’ve always loved the TR6.

Firebird is interesting too. Too much wheel in the rear, but overall I like it.

That's funny. The last one must be some kind of scam with stolen images, but otherwise looks like a quick flip with a (probably not needed) paint job. Car flippers are as bad as house flippers.
