Thank you kyfdx. That makes sense. Does the MF and residual look right? Would this be a good deal if $5k down with 850ish/month payment?

    $4585 Volvo allowance
Is the Volvo allowance on top of the heavy promotional credit that they seem to be giving on the 2016 T8's (at least in the SF Bay Area)?

What would the residual be for 36mos/15K?

    Thanks,
    Greg

It's likely any quote you get from the dealer will already include the incentive.

    36/12 for T8 Inscription - .00114 and 46%

    $9000 T8 Bonus and $4585 non-cash credit.

To clarify for T8 Inscrip is the MF .00114 or is there an incentive minus .00114 from Volvo and is it the same MF for a 39/12? Also is the $4585 non cash credit the federal tax credit claimed by Volvo or different?

    Thank you much.

.00114 is the base MF for top tier credit. You could buy it down with multiple security deposits.

Tis the season to be walking back previous statements.

Not sure what I was reading from, but none of those numbers are right for the 2017 XC90 T8 Inscription.

    Let's try again - 36/12 is .00167 and 48%. Subtract 1% for 39 months.

And, no $9000 incentive on the 2017's. Only the $4585, which is likely to be a portion of the federal tax credit for hybrids.

    HI All,

thanks for the wealth of info!!

for 2017 XC90 T6 momentum plus, what's the good discount level of MSRP?

I am looking at following first offer. for 36/12 lease in NJ. 7% tax

    MSRP 59775
    Sell price 57000
    MF .000143
    Residual 60%

    total out of pocket $2000

monthly payment $797 including tax with first 3 payments covered by Volvo.

Also, I have trade in, valued at $26500. One dealer tells me that this eliminates Tax and another tells me it does not. which is true?

    Thanks!

How did you get the first three payments covered by Volvo?? My deal is @ $710 with 3800 due at signing (8.625% NY sales tax included, first payment, bank fee etc. MSRP:$62,815 R-Design 39mo/12k)

3 payment is the offer from dealer i have in writing..I did not sign anything yet as I am still not sure between XC90, Q7 or MDX. also, somehow Acura dealer's offer show no Taxes as they are able to apply my trade in value. BTW, I think $710 per month is a good deal! what dealer ? and what's the discount of MSRP are you getting?

I confirm the MF and residual.

    What does the $2000 cover?

What is the adjusted cap cost? If higher than the selling price, what's been added to it?

No answer to your tax credit question - you could check online with the state department of revenue.

$2000 covers total out of pocket. Fees are as follows

    695 acquisition
    250 doc fee
    635 Govt fees
    1908 taxes

monthly payment is $797.24 including tax. 3 payments are covered by Volvo are not factored in to calculations.

so, bottom line? what do you think about the deal?

I'm confused ... you're showing almost $3500 of fees, of which you are covering only $2000. Is the rest being added to the selling price?

If you're adding the tax to the payment, then I don't see $2000 of start up costs.

Ask the dealer for the specific breakdown of the $2000 - and the adjusted cap cost, with taxes and such added in.

    39/10 on T6 Momentum - .00146 and 60%

Using your MSRP and selling price, I get $661/mo

I'm guessing the sales tax is being added in. Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is, and how they got there from the selling price.

Hi i am looking to get a Volvo XC90 T6 R-Design ($59213)or T8 Hybrid R-Design ($61470) Bursting Blue. The local dealers in NJ that i have visited have quoted me on the T6 $808 a month on 39m/10k and on the T8 $877 a month 39/10k. According to them i am getting 50% and 0.00160 on the T6 and on the T8 48% and 0.00160, am i getting a good deal. I am finding hard to how bad the residual values are as well as MF for what is supposed to be their top end R-design (i understand that the inscription and Excellence are likely higher price) dont look as nice. However even on those the residual and MF is still quite bad when comparing to the direct competitors like BMW, Merc or Audi. Is it just something you have to accept if you really want a Volvo?

    39/10 lease numbers:
    T6 R-Design - .00150 and 58%
    T8 R-Design - .00160 and 48%

For now, the MF are pretty high; however, the Audi Q7 MF is .00227, this month. It all depends on how much of a discount you can negotiate from sticker.

We would need to know the adjusted cap cost in order to figure the payment.

thanks. Prestige gave me a $13585 cap reduction on the car (9k of their own incentives and 4585 of the federal tax incentive by Volvo) this on the T8 Hybrid. The T6 it was a 62475 MSRP selling price of $59213. I would be putting 4k down payment for cap reduction.

We suggest you don't put a cap reduction on a lease - that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Instead, you may consider using that money for MSD to buy down the MF.

Also, the $9K is also a Volvo incentive, so you should negotiate a discount from the sticker price before applying all the incentive monies.

Does Volvo do MSD? they didnt mention that at all. Apologies for my ignorance but how do you even start negotiating a sticker price. Are there specifics words or tactics one can use. I did mention edmunds, trucar how they show what the msrp price is and what the fair purchase price is. Should that be the approach i take to negotiate? Can i negotiate even when i am ordering something i put together online, ie specific packages rather than what they have in stock or as soon as i do that my negotiating power is lowered? I am sorry i am asking so many questions but hopefully these are the same many others do have.
  • redeagles16redeagles16 Member Posts: 15
Also i meant to ask you if in any deal you pay the sales taxes/fees up front or if you incorporate that onto the lease? Ie is the only thing one pays the MSD or Cap reduction cost (although you don't advise on this for good reasons), or do you also need to pay those sales taxes/fees?

Yes, Volvo offers MSD. Salesmen may not be familiar with it. Probably need to discuss with a finance manager.

Obtaining a price from an on-line resource is a good place to start - ideally, you'll want to beat the numbers you get, as those are an average.

You can negotiate on a car that you plan to order.

It depends on the state you will register the car in - some states collect the sales tax up front, others tax the monthly payment.

If you do MSD, you'll pay that money up front. In addition, you will owe the first payment and you should also pay any government fees up front.

Everything else - dealer or bank imposed fees - you should roll into the lease payment.

The monthly payment and residual for this lease has been
calculated using the following mileage allowance. You are
allowed to drive 10,000 per year, 833 miles per month. If you
exceed the mileage allowance for the lease term and do not
purchase the Vehicle, you will pay 0.25 for each excess mile.

    Is this a good deal?

I get $739/mo plus tax with those numbers, so looks about right.

If you're doing MSD, and you're comfortable with the discount from sticker, not much else you can do.

So you got to $739 with 1k down and paying the $4967 so total upfront of $5967 but they gave me $769 month, so where do you think they are getting $30 a month more from?
also if I put $5100 of msd and pay the taxes/fees upfront they say it comes to $769 which again doesn't make sense to me? They say the 5100 works out 6 lease payments and lowers the rate by 0.0005 for each lease payment. Originally at 0.00150 if I make 6 msd goes down to 0.0012, unsure how $1000 down payment equals lowering the mf with 6 msd and it works out the same. I thought cost.

I simply used the numbers you gave me.

Ask the dealer what adjusted cap cost number they are using - if higher than the one you gave me, ask them what they've added.

If you use MSD the payment should come down, since a lower MF will be used.

Every $1000 of down payment reduces the payment about $26/mo for a 39 month lease. Might be the same reduction of payment with MSD.

But, the big difference is that you get the $5100 back at the end of the lease.

According to the sheet he gave me the adj cap cost is 63015 check those number I mentioned it's right at the top on line C. I used http://leasehackr.com/calculator and with 60% residual and 0.0015 Mf as per Volvos October numbers I get to $737 inc nj tax so I'm just $2 off your number which means the dealership is charging me almost $1100 more during the 39 months somewhere. I got to this number with exact numbers on the sheet they gave me.

Some of the numbers on that sheet don't add up.
Discount listed as $4000, but price listed is $4200 less than MSRP.
Adjusted CAP cost is $5 less than Gross CAP cost. The only thing I would assume from that is they added the $995 acq.fee (marked up from base), and then subtracted $1000 CAP cost reduction, but that isn't shown in your numbers listed.

You've either got some typos, or the numbers given just aren't right.

The only variables in a lease calculation are the MF and the adjusted cap cost. Confirm with the dealer that the $63,015 is the adjusted cap and not the selling price - there may be some fees and such added in that account for the $1100 delta.

Same residual for both terms or should that be 60% for 36 mos?  Thanks again.
