The 66 Galaxie 7 Litre on BaT, just ended past 10K, I think. Nice looking cool car but all the money for one with its needs, IMO. Seller is a known dealer/flipper who probably knows when it is time to move on.

.
Yup, it is indeed a 1966 Ford Galaxie 7 Litre/428 4sp. A pair of these driven by Dan Gurney and F1 Champion Jim Clark contested the British Saloon Car Championship. Clark had one for his private use that IIRC he owned when he was killed in racing accident in 1967.
And by the look of it, if you wanted it to be mint, you could spend that much again in body/paint work. What is a mint one worth, 30K-ish? Going to be hard to run in the black here.
Yeah, 30-ish if you can find someone who wants it. Too big for a muscle car or pony car fan. You'd have to be into some kind of NASCAR re-creation I guess. Oh wait, Ford was out of NASCAR by 1967.
Probably as good as a factory fit is going to get.
It's definitely a 1967 Mercury Cougar, don't recall if it was an XR7. This one has a 390 instead of the standard 289 V8. The hood fitment is all to typical of the era. :@
Well, I'll go with the basic 1964 Plymouth Fury. I was going to post it was the Sport Fury because of that piece on top of the front bumper but it has wheel covers from the Fury as it does the non Red, White, and Blue side rectangles.

Well, after some detective work, I find that piece on top of the front bumper is the rare option Grille Guard.
I like the way that old Standard Ten is fitted with wire wheels - presumably from a Spitfire or similar. One of the least likely cars to get wire wheels really.
They were very tough though (excluding the rust traps of course) and went for ever - but pretty slowly.
maybe $100 to use it as a lawn ornament. But there is no way in Hades that there is a there to get to, from here, without being so far underwater you are going to have the bends if you try to surface.
that can work on CL. A few years back I redid my kitchen, and had the cabinets saved. Tried to give them to restore, but they could never get out to get them. Finally got late, and the new ones were about to arrive, and I needed the garage space to store them.
I had them listed for some nominal amount, like $100. Crickets. So I updated the ad, to read "Free, but have to pick up today", and people came out of the woodwork asking for them.
were they really that much better of a deal at a $100 discount?

I was in the same situation. In 2002 when I had my kitchen redone by a local handyman, he was a one-man show and really had no way to get rid of the old cabinets. He installed a couple downstairs in my laundry area and reused a couple of the old boxes but still had 7 or 8 left over. So down into the basement storage they went. I rationalized I might install a couple in the garage but never did and they were taking up space downstairs for 15 years. Earlier this month I finally got tired of seeing them gathering dust in the corner there and called Restore. Two guys showed up with a truck on Friday morning and took them away. Felt bad for them as they were heavy and one of the things was a big pantry cabinet that weighed a ton. Offered them each a $20 tip when they were done but they refused to accept. I made a donation to Habitat after they went. Very glad they are gone, the space freed up was badly needed.
That's correct! Did he really? It's a very interesting and rare car. Turbocharged, AWD rally car.
Yup... bought it in 1994. Had it for about 18 months.
Factory BBS wheels. DOHC intercooled turbo. That picture is probably the worst angle. Pretty cool double level spoiler in the back. 138 HP and true 50/50 AWD with center differential lock.
But, the transfer case had been previously damaged. Which I found out about, when I started having engine problems.
They wanted $2600 for a used engine and transfer case from a salvage yard. Since I'd only paid $5300 for the vehicle, I traded it in. It still ran... just not well. I was very, very happy with it. It's a lot sportier looking in person than that last picture.
That is a Fiat 1200 Granluce - late 50's. The basic design lived on long afterwards not least in India....
Thanks, Magnette, you're correct on all counts. The Fiat 1200 was developed from the Fiat 1100 (Millecento), one of the Torino makers best designs. I think of the 1200 as an Americanized 1100 because it's a little bigger, has proportionately more glass and thinner roof pillars and (sorta) fins.
My FIL got one of these when he was stationed in France in the late 50s and found out his '57 Olds was just too big and thirsty for European roads. He kept the Olds for long trips and eventually both cars went back to the US ca. 1960. My wife learned to drive a standars on the 1200.
The Gran Luce was the top level version of the 1200. The 1200 was built under license in India as the Premier Padmini and saw extensive use as a taxi until recent years>
I posted that Dodge pickup last week HERE in the "I spotted an (insert obscure car name here) classic car today!" discussion, but it got snowed under by the avalanche of pics of life in 1930s Kentucky that got posted there.
