IH Scout. But not sure what the trim package is called. Someplace from the 70s. I always liked these.

I can't give you a full gold star because the package is rather rare and obscure. :)

I was thinking the Scout would have to be early, early '70s, or maybe even '60s.

    '71 I think.

I had to do some Googling so I can't say I knew what it was before. It's a 1971 Scout 800B Comanche edition, one of 1500 made.

Ta-Da! I doubt many of these still exist, given that IH made excellent 4-wheel ferrous oxide generators.

I found a few that had been for sale in my Googling. Like 1st-gen Broncos, Scouts are hard to find in the wild these days due to the tinworm. Of the two, I always preferred the Scout but I suppose it was held back by a sparse dealer network.

is that a 64 Barracuda coming toward us (passing in front of the nose of an early Corvair)?

and I think in the middle of the far right row, a green Corvair van. Or one of the Chevy flat nose ones.

Blue wagon in front looks like a 61-64 big Ford, can't tell which year from here. I think I see a Kaiser beside the Corvair van.

I think the green van is a Corvair van (Corvan?)

I had to take another look at the van, I first thought it was a station wagon with its nose hidden by the car next to it..but yea it's a Corvan. The white over green car next to the van is either a'53-'54 MoPar or a Kaiser from the same era. Looks like the oldest car.

In front of that is a light blue long-bed pickup which is next to a blue/white '58 Chevy.

I did a some research on Little America - that looks to be the original location, in the middle of Nowhere, Wyoming. For the longest time, it hosted a gas station with the most pumps - something like 56.

I've actually stayed at the property in Cheyenne - hotel, restaurant, olympic sized pool and a par 3 golf course.

It is actually right off I-80 in the middle of nowhere WY B) Seriously, I drove by it maybe a year or so ago and it looked busy in the parking lot. I think it was in April. Would make a good fit on the old Route 66.

Red car up front between the two wagons is a 62ish Continental. Tough to tell w/o the front or back.

I read the Wikipedia entry - when it was built, the road was US 30 (Lincoln Highway).

The white/black wagon right next to the big sign is a 1956 Chevrolet wagon, most likely a 210 but could be a 150.

Little America also has a very nice lodging location in Flagstaff. We stayed there a few years ago when we went to the Grand Canyon. If we go back to Flagstaff we will stay there again.

Did anyone notice the rose Lincoln under the sign is so long it's parked in two spaces, end-to-end?
Some people take up two side-by-side spaces, but not this luxury liner!

They weren't very good cars, but they were certainly stylish and tasteful. I think they look best in black for some reason.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Agreed, those Continentals didn't caey red well, dark blue or black is best IMO.

I had a 95 or 96, first year of rounded 4 door style, Plymouth voyager rallye. Reminds me of that.

It's a Cedric made under license in Taiwan (hence the LHD):

"Yue Loong produced Nissan/Datsun cars in license, and they also produced the Yue Loong Cedric 330."

The van is a 94 Caravan ES.  Never was many of that trim level.  Pretty sure it was top of the line and lots of specific parts (fog lights, body color grill etc)

Citroen C6, technically the successor to the XM even though it was released 5 years after the XM ended production. Came out in 2005. Top of the line Citroen I believe.

That's right, it's the top-line Citroen C6, maybe the last to truly look like a Citroen (2005-2012).

This picture of a L.A. freeway from 1958 appeared on the same site as the one above earlier this week and I was quite taken with it. Especially the '47 Olds 2-door which is already looking a bit worn but which strikes me as looking tough enough to make a great street rod. And I normally don't like that immediate postwar style Olds.

The Olds should look a little "worn"; the newest cars are '58s, over a decade newer than the Olds Slopeback. My uncle had a '49 and gave sue kids a thrill when he 'd hit the gas which would press us back into our seats.

There's quite a variety of MYs in that photo. The oldest car is the gray tudor in center, it looks pre-WWII so it could be 20 years older than the '58 Ford and Mercury bringing up the rear. It could be a Buick, reminds me of my Grandpa's '36.

Definitely pre-war. You can tell by the "pod" headlights. Those pretty much disappeared by around (roughly) 1938 or so.
