It may look like a 41 Packard, but it's a Russian ZIS from right after the war. The high ranking old commie tyrants liked Packards, apparantly. The later ZIL also copied Packard cues.
I read that was an urban legend, that someone actually measured both cars, and found them to be different. I've never seen a ZIS in the flesh though, so I don't know.
I've heard the body dies story too, and it is very believable IMO.
The ca. 1957+ ZIL was also a ringer for the 55-56 Packard, but I am sure no dies were given to the commies at that time.

Perhaps the Commie tryants were following the Boss's lead, Uncle Joe Stalin favored armored ZiS Limos, like the ZiS 115 pictured (ca 1945- 58). ZiS is an acronym for the Russian words for "Stalin Automobile Factory".
There's a funny scene in the movie One-Two-Three (1962) where American Jimmie Cagney is careening thru East Berlin with three Russians in a jalopy. One of the Ruskis says "Don't worry, is exact copy of 1937 Nash". Substitute "Packard" and you have the ZiS 110-115 series.
The Reds were great copiers, their first post war strategic bomber, the Tupelov TU-4, was a slightly altered rip-off of the Boeing B-29
Funny thing about that ZIS/Nash comparison - the first ZIS was actually some kind of derivative of a ca. 36-37 Nash, I dunno if it was the same dies or not.
There was also the GAZ-A and GAZ-M1, both of which were Ford designs with slightly different trim - the "A" being a Model A and the "M1" being a 33-34 model.
And in postwar cars, the first "ZIM" was very derivative of a c. 48-49 Caddy. The old commies might have claimed to not like America, but they reveled in American style.
There's one in my garage, I guess some diplomat brought it over. I think it's a 202cc, some numeric name like that. Very unique looking car. I'm sure it gets plenty of attention.
Is that a 206CC? It looks smaller than what I've seen.
Small retractable tin-top cars are quite the rage in Europe and the Pueg 206CC is one of the biggest sellers but the car I showed is the similar but smaller Mitsubishi CZC
Here it is with the top down>>
Here's the Puegeot 206CC>>
Similar cars are offered by Renault, Opel and probably some others.
For our market the 340, and the 240, which replaced the 2.4 MkII, had thinner bumpers than the old 3.4/2.4 range, but perhaps U.S. spec. continued with the double bumper like on this one... I think they also cheapened the interior, because before the change, there was leather upholstery, but afterwards, the leather was an option, and the basic car got "Ambla" which was a type of plastic fake leather which had previously only been available on cheaper fleet versions of the Jag - ie the police specials... They also changed the equivalent Daimler V8, from the 2.5 litre, to the 250V8.
thought all of the Esprits were 4-cylinder turbos?
It might be more correct to say that all Esprits were Turbos including the '91 I posted (my bad!). However only some of the 4-bangers were actually branded as Esprit Turbos according to this. (Hence my confusion :confuse: )
The later V8 models had twin-turbos and LOTS of power.
All I know about the red car is that it is some kind of highline Rambler/AMC...but in the back I spot a 1960 Caddy Series 62 flat top, and that little piece of rear quarter panel to the right appears to be a Porsche 944 with late model wheels.
Good eye Fintail! The red convertible is a 1965 Rambler 990/327. I didn't even notice the little hunk of 944 but you're correct on that, the late model wheels it's wearing and the 1960 Caddy, it's a Sedan DeVille but who's nitpicking?

Uh...no.

The part about PF coachwork and 1953 is correct but it's not a 250 Europa but a 212 Inter

I am sure andre can nail the exact model/engine/color/year etc.
Now, if it made you puke... it would be a '58.. All '58s seem to do that...(I'm not just talking about Chryslers)

CAR calls the Lexus SC something like a 206CC for 40K (pounds) more.
They are very small. My Miata is longer I believe.
