That car would look a LOT better with two doors instead of four.

    Guessing...Ford Maverick?

It's a Torino. Can't find pictures of right year but guessing 69. Now model..., it was a Nascar type name. Daytona? I had a 73. This was earlier.

Continentals were made in two door and convertible form as well by various coachbuilders, here's a coupe built by the same coachbuilder as the green sedan shown.

IMHO the four door is better looking but perhaps it's that beautiful green paint.

The white one looks like a a Renault that we got as the Encore, not sure what number that was in Europe where this car is.

Blue one a real car, not a concept? I like it! Looks Aussie to me.

Holden Crewman Cross8 (which makes it an AWD, LS1-powered, crew-cab El Camino. GM should be smacked repeatedly in the nads for not selling it here.)

I thnik that's a Renault 11...I had a Matchbox version. That one has Dutch plates, I think.

OMG, I could not agree more. Bring that here today and I will be at the Chevy dealership tomorrow. Awesome looking car. Or is it truck?

    Right on target!

And, I agree wholeheartedly with you about it being brought across the pond and sold here.

With the popularity of "crossover" type vehicles in full swing, I could see GM selling 50,000 of these with no trouble at all.

I mean, c'mon, if they can federalze the Monaro for Pontiac, they can do the same for this.

If that's not enough, they sell a 2-door version of the Ute as well as a one-ton heavy duty model.

    Crikey!

    A Torino Talladega.

Right you are. Thanks to its "aerodynics" it won the manufacturers cup in 1968. A title it lost to the Dodge Daytona in 69.

Nope, that is not an Austin Princess but the "Jag-like headlight fairings" are an important clue. ;)

Dutch plates, that's all I can tell

Kinda reminds me of one of those Indian-built Rovers, but I doubt that's it.

Pretty much Jack, Daimler is a subsidiary of Jaguar and Daimler cars are all based on Jag
platforms and powerplants, at least since Jaguar took it over in the 1960's.

    1949 Ford station wagon?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Close, it's a 1950. It's hard to believe that they could legally sell a new car with just a single tailight, and a small one at that, back then.

Cadillac BLS, a car that should not exist at all.
  • tom1sharon2tom1sharon2 Member Posts: 40
Yeah, the good ol' days when you had to stick your arm out the window to signal a turn. Imagine doing that in today's driving environment.

I think it's a great car for the European market. I'm not in "awwwww" by it's styling but do think it's a decent design.

  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Because this car is nothing more than a reskinned Saab 9-3, which is a reskinned Opel Vectra, which will be sold here more or less as the Satun Aura, and is the half-brother of the Pontiac G6 and Chevy Malibu. Cimarron II, in other words. Put that body on the Solstice chassis and you'd have a Cadillac worth offering in the European market.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
    Ok, good point. :)

    Rocky
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
It shouldn't exist because the Cadillac brand has little status in Europe. There's nothing the BLS has that a savvy Euro buyer couldn't get from Saab, Volvo, BMW, Opel or, for that matter, Ford.

Have seen a few of those at the local weekly car gathering in the summer. AMC has a pretty deep history in the city I live in.

    Doesn't look like a SC/Rambler (no hood scoop), but it's a Rambler, circa 1969.
