Lucid Air. Perhaps my first BEV, if I decide to move on from the out of warranty A7 next spring?

My wife saw one of those on our way back to Alaska last week, and she immediately said, "Wow! What is that?!" I think it was love at first sight. Very, very unusual for her to comment on a car like that.

My dad owned one of those and I loved it so much that I have owned 3 Volvos of my own. The pictured one is at least a '65, based on the shield on the fender.

I saw that original post on FB from the young boy shown on the left edge with his kid sister in the first construction pic. Kind of a sad story, his mom split from his dad in ‘79 and took the kids with her to Oakland, and he sold the place in ‘82.

The fb algorithm is funny - you must read some history pages, as I read a couple relatively local/regional history pages and can't think of why else it was suggested. WA is pretty far from Orange County though (and NS even further).

I have no idea how I ended up seeing that either. It was close to a week ago. I think the only SoCal account I follow is Alison Martino’s Vintage L.A. so maybe it’s that, but who knows. One other strange thing happened this week that is sort of similar. I follow exactly zero celebs on FB, but for some reason this week it gave me 2 or 3 suggestions over a few days that I follow Diane Lane, the actress. I always had a semi-crush on her years ago. When the last suggestion popped up, I clicked on her pic and it did appear to legit be her professional account, though it had less than 2000 followers which seemed low. The only way to follow that is to send a friend request, which I hate to do because I’m not her friend since we don’t know each other. But I clicked the button and it was accepted a day later. I figure it is just her publicist trying to drive some stats but hey, I’m friends now with Diane Lane!

I think some friends suggestions are based on friends of friends - know anyone who might know Diane Lane?
I've had a couple odd friend suggestions too, pro athletes who were big names 25-30 years ago, as I am "friends" (but have never met) with one who I had a jersey of his at one time and when I offered to sell it at the price I paid, he vanished. Algorithms can be funny.
Thinking of LA, I have visited a couple CA themed pages looking for images, probably the reason - cool that it suggested that post though, as I find the subject interesting.
And yes, cars are a VW 412 (I think the son of the owner said) along with a 2nd gen Celica liftback.
I love the C2 Vette. maybe a '67? 75ish Maverick. Quite dowdy in brown with dog dish hubs. Looks like a 2 door Toyota next to it, and an early 70s big Mercedes (small bumper) next to that.
The small bumper W116 at right, assuming it is not a grey market car (which were not rare at the time), would be a 1973 model - offered one year before it gained the park bench bumpers.
At least the tarp is protecting the one in back a bit. This one in front is likely no more than a lawn ornament now. I would swap the wheels, though. Wonder what make? I'm guessing they're both the same, given the radiator shell similarity.
Old timer at right appears to be a mid 20s Packard - grille shape and disc wheels look right. Car at left is a few years later but can't recognize the radiator shell.
Looks like fall colors are on the cusp of getting serious there!
I enjoyed driving the truck down I76 on the last weekend of September, though the colors were just starting to hint at what glory they might soon display....

For the oldies, the car at left looks a class fancier than a Model A to me (and doesn't look like the same radiator shell) but of the same time period.

The other thing about the one on the left is that the front half of the body looks quite different from the back half, even though they share a similar belt line bulge, given that it ends half through the rear wheel, leading to a missing something from there on back. I wonder if that was an early pickup that lost its bed somewhere in its past.

I was thinking the same, maybe a cut down pickup, as was common for white elephant large cars during the depression. I zoomed in and it appears the rear bodywork is intact - the door is still there etc. I suspect it is along the lines of a 4 window/close coupled sedan, something like this (but many did not have the landau bar) where the rear section was cloth/wood and didn't actually lower/wasn't a real convertible, was just there for the look. The car in explorer's image is smaller than this, but maybe the same design (many makes made something like this):
I'll grab the Corvair Monza. I had one (not a Monza, though). Fun car. I got rid of it after a truck almost turned me into road kill. Apparently his mirrors weren't set to pick up objects lower than his axle hubs.

Passed one of those 840/850s years ago daily on my drive to/from work in Anchorage. On the driveway of a small house, I wondered 1. how'd they afford it? and 2. why didn't they park it in the garage?
At Stanley Park I believe the two tone car is an Austin Cambridge or similar, and a BMC Farina at background left with maybe a 58 Chevy in the foreground.

I thought about posting that picture when I saw it. Probably half the domestic cars in LA in that one picture.
