"The roadster is a Shelby 427 Cobra SC, ca. 1965-'67 or more likely, a clone/replica. Replicas outnumber originals by at least 1,000:1 because the old ones are simply too valuable to risk on the street."

The site had about three of them, in Switzerland. I would bet they are original; it was some kind of Shelby club get together. They also had an early 90's Shelby mustang.

But I doubt they put those cars on the street at many other times...

They also had an early 90's Shelby mustang.

:confuse: AFAIK no "Shelby" Mustangs were made from 1971 until the name was revived in the 21st Century ('05?). :confuse:

    That's the new Honda Crossroad.

3 rows of seats in a package shorter than the Element!

    Probably not adult sized-seats, though.

Honda says they will not bring it here. It could replace the Element, but I doubt it would meet the rear crash standards coming our way soon.

"Honda says they will not bring it here."

However, apparently, one was seen roaming around in Los Angeles recently....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw that, too, in fact it was blogged on Straighline and a lot of us thought it was a Nissan, because it sort of looks like the Cube.

The article I read was in today's Automotive News, so at least offcially they haven't decided to bring it here.

There was a 10 passenger CR-V sold in the Phillipinnes, FWIW, that never made it here.

    I believe that's a 1957 Rambler Rebel. Didn't they have a 327 V-8?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Yes they did. 255 horsepower in a 3300-pound car was just short of astounding for 1957, and probably prompted the use of the 348 big-block in the 1958 Chevy.

Another former car of mine....the Renault Caravelle...just a Dauphine in a tarted up dress.

Cute in a feminine sort of way...those cars are having a VERY hard time looking tough in there, aren't they---LOL!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
I'm not... but the convertible is a Renault Caravelle, behind, to the right is an early (note small windshield) VW Bug and a black '58 Chevy.

The two studs are probably GIs stationed in Europe (note USA licence plate).

Ha, I remember when I was 12 a local used car lot that always had old oddballs had a Caravelle. I really wanted it. It was light yellow and actually in nice shape. I think they wanted around $2500 for it, back ca. 1989.

They also had a Fuego, a car that I liked when I was 6 or 7 years old.

I forget what my dad stopped by there to look at, I think some kind of mid 50s Ford.

Nissan NX. Quashed by the Sentra SE-R.

That's probably an NX 2000 model, there was also a 1600.

Hard to tell because of the aftermarket rear bumper, so who knows if the wheels are stock. I think those were on the 2000.

Why is she parked on her friend's outdoor patio?

    Ah, the "rubber-band" car!
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,528
Because the car probably weighs as much as a motorcycle... :lemon:

Daf (even says on the plate)...Variomatic?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
DAF 600 1958-63, "Variomatic" was Daf's trade name for the Van Doorne continuously variable transmission (CVT).

1970 Buick Riviera. It kind of looks like a 1968 Skylark on steroids.

New Ford Mondeo? (Lokki thinks - Looks like a Ford logo on the grill, but otherwise it's just another jellybean)

    Yup new mondeo.

Looks pretty good in the pictures I have seen. Interior seems high class.

Geez, is the hood unlatched on that Riv? It looks like you could reach in and adjust the carburetor without opening the hood! :P

I think the hood is unlatched on that '70 Riv. Now if it was a later 70's model, I would've attributed it to build quality, but in this pic the hood probably just isn't down all the way. Looks like it might've been out on the show field with its hood up when it started to rain, so somebody put the hood down without closing it all the way.

No wonder James switched to a BMW. Can you imagine him trying to escape and not having his car start?

Wouldn't that have been more likely when he was driving that Lotus in the 80's?

I place it in the early '70s.. Maybe a Bavaria? or a 2600?

Looks like the next model up from a 2002.. definitely the Euro version with those headlights...

I think the plates put it from like 72-73

I don't think it is a Bavaria though. The only 2600 I know of it the late 50s 'Baroque Angel' sedan.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
No not a Bavarian cream doughnut....more like one of those stylishly tortured late 60s BMW sedans....a 2500?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,571
    2600? 2500? What's a few hundred between friends? ;)

That grill puts it between '69-'71, I think, though I still don't know the model... predecessor to a 5-series..

Sorry, youse are all wrong :P .

It's a BMW 2000 ('66-'72), a predecessor to the 2002 (according to the BMW Museum in Spartanburg) and a direct descendant of the pioneering BMW 1500 of 1961, the first of the Neue Classe cars which created the modern BMW.

It is only distantly related to the 2000C and CS.

    Fiat 600 Multipla

    Maybe the first production minivan?

I saw one of these driving in Vancouver once...it sounded kind of like a chainsaw.

The 2000 4dr was the "big sedan" of the period, and in that respect was the predecessor to the Bavaria/2500/2800 sedans. The 2 liter engine found its way into the smaller/lighter 1600 2dr sedan resulting in the iconic BMW 2002.

I owned a 2000 sedan for a short while back in the 70s.

I noticed those seem a little off...those can't be correct can they?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
I cheated a little on this one, it was a special ordered by a young millionaire in 1957. Although the car is similar to other SAs of the era it does have a few custom touches including the twin rear wipers.
