'49 or '50 Dodge cop car.

The Pontiac is what they used to call a Sedan Delivery, that one's a 1952.. There's supposed to be a SD in the works for the PT Cruiser.

I should have known that. My first car was a 1947 Pontiac Convertible. My dad loved Pontiac and owned several while I was growing up. I don't remember ever seeing that model. Lots of Chevy delivery wagons.

What can I tell you, the giveaway was the bright metal stripe on the back door that identifies it as a Poncho. Granted it's hard to see and resembles a ventilation grille...

Some of you may recall this=>

1999 Ford Crew Cab Ranger it is. It has a 4 banger diesel with 5 speed transmission. Those Brazilian fellows drove it from the tip of So. America to the Arctic Ocean. The truck is built in Brazil and they averaged 45 MPG for the entire trip.

    Challenger

Yep, 1970 Doge Challenger. Rumor has it that D-C will build a 21st century pony car to challenge Ford's wildly successful Mustang and call it Dodge Challenger.

Is that the USS Nimitz? The license plate should read CVN-68

    image
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
Nah. The Nimitz is more fuel efficient. Probably has a smaller turning radius, too.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
I musta been confused by the tail fins.

That looks like a fun ride. This is the inside view of the same car. ">

Dodde Omni (Horizon). I've seen this car in Europe but not under the Chrysler brand. I think Matra built the Horizon in France and even won 1979 Europe car of the year award.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I believe the Omni was sold under the Talbot name in Europe. The Dodge Omni shown is one of a limited series. I'm sure someone will recognize it. ;)

I see the Shelby name so I'm guessing is a turbo model. Shelby and Chrysler played with turbo's during the 80's with the Daytona and LeBaron. Don't know the exact details of this particular car.
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
I think it was the Oni GLH (?) Wasn't it supposed to be a GTI competitor? I understand that these things can be silly fast when properly built.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
It is indeed a 1986 Shelby GL-H (it was badged as a Shelby, not a Dodge, tho' sold by Dodge dealers.)

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

Does this help (miniature of the same car w slightly different bodywork)?

Hmmmm....now that does tickle something....anything to do with Fiat or Abarth? I believe I've seen that engine lid design on an Abarth of some type before, but this car's shape isn't really Fiat Abarth looking....I am still thinking....Whatever it is I've never seen a real one...I would have remembered this odd duck...

So the solution lies in trying to think of what kind of car might be Italian but look French....hmmmm.....unless this is a real curve ball and is some design Abarth did for Poland or something....
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
Is it possible that this is from the same bloodline?

The white car was a Fiat Abarth 750 with Zagato bodywork ca. late 1950s. The second red car is essentailly the same but with a slightly different (but still Zagato) body.

Gagrice's sedans are both Lancias from the late 50s. One's an Aurelia and the other is
I think an Aprilia. Neat little cars both.

Ah those I think are Lancia Aurelia B20s. One's a berlina with suicide doors and the other is a coupe I think, maybe special coachwork?

World's first production V-6 engine is from Lancia. These models look to be what mid-50s?

Extremely technically advanced car for its time, really fun to drive even today.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,477
I think the sedan would be an Appia. Very charming looks, IMO
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Aurelia came in a Berlina too...but I DUNNO, I'm all mixed up. I thought Appia was rounder somehow. The coupe was called I think a B20GT
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,477
I think there was a late 40s style Appia which was more rounded, and the mid 50s one like in the photo. I don't know what the model designations signify, engines I would guess.

I've heard of that B20, that must be right
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
There was IIRC an Aurelia coupe and spider in B24 as well as B20 form (bigger motor?)
    This is a B24 Spider=>image

[Doh!] I said Aprilia before, I meant Appia!

No...but....hmmm....those tiny wheels and license plates and RHD steering suggest something British....or built under license to Britain in one of the colonies perhaps....
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
    Looks a lot like a Mini Cooper....because it's a Mini Clubman Estate. I'd say it's from the 60's.

It'd be cool if they could make a longer version of the Mini Cooper, say a 4 door hatch and bring it to the states.

I do think they'd have to change the name though...in most American cities, "clubman" doesn't quite mean what it does in the UK.
