    close enough for me.

I saw a (I think) '73 Road Runner last night. Orange, with black and orange interior. Had that real pointy nose. had a pistol grip 4 speed at least! I think it was a 383.

Is that a Buick? The portholes remind me of an Electra 225...

Let's see if I remember my Buickology....portholes mean AT LEAST a 1949...but that has 3, not 4, holes so maybe maybe...I'll guess 1950 but not a top of the line car.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    ...but it's either a 1951 or '52 Buick Special. Definately not a '50 or '53.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I'm impressed, Lemko, it looks like a '53 to me but in fact it's a '52 Special.

Okay here's one but be careful before you shoot.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
'52 Buick Special. Only Roadmasters had 4 portholes.

Shooting from the hip here: Nash Metropolitan, although Shifty may have something else up his sleeve here. ;)

Looks like a Metro to me too but perhaps it's the same car w a different badge.
Dunno what it could be tho :confuse:

They may have been sold as Austins back in Blighty but that's a LHDer. :confuse: :confuse:

The hubcap and wheels look a bit odd for a Nash, I must say; so maybe it isn't a Metropolitan?

    Bob
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,471
Looks like a normal Metro to me, maybe they sold an Austin variant in Canada as Canada got lots more crap British cars than south of the border, it seems.

I think the hubcaps are right, they look like the Nash typeface.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
okay big hint. It's a metro but not a Nash.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
They were sold under the Austin and Nash nameplates according to this.

I wonder if they ever made them in South America or something
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
    Okay you give?

    It's a Hudson Metropolitan.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Really! I didn't know Hudson also sold this car!

guaranteed the people I would play with won't know. And the only people that will even know what a Metro is will be my parents and older sister, because they had one before I was born!

On the right looks like an Alfa grille. Those are V shaped. Alfa Spyder?

BMW 1600 GT, body by Glas.
My first car was a 1600 sedan, which looked just like the famous 2002.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,471
The BMW is a 1600 by Glas, I think that's the design company. The other car might be an in-house Glas car or something.

BMW 1600 GT, body by Glas.

Glas was a subsidiary of BMW, their old plant at Dingolfing is still cranking out Bimmers to this day. The styling was by Piero Frua.

Frua...I was kind of thinking that. Never seen one in person, but I know I've read about it.

No idea on the white car...some kind of Italian-American hybrid
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,464
certainly reminiscent of an AC (aka Cobra) model, but seems bigger. Looks nice though

I was thinking AC also, perhaps an earlier variant of the Ace?

    She's a beaut, though.

    It's all-American.

Whatever it is, the front end of it looks like it "inspired" the current Chrysler 300C
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,464
and looked at the profile. never would have guessed that, but is "all american" true? I thought it was a hybrid like a Cobra (euro chassis/US power).

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I can certainly understand your skepticism about the all-American nature of this car.

    It's a Cunningham C-1, the first of Briggs Cunninham's successful sports/racing cars.
The motor is a Cadillac OHV V8, as for the rest :

Just as it was in 1951, the Cunningham is hand built, with a hand-hammered aluminum body and the innovative Cunningham dual tube chassis. This frame design was, and is, the most rigid ladder chassis ever devised.

    more here

To be fair, the body looks like it may have been Italian coachwork but I could find no reference to a bodybuilder, the later C-3 was styled by Vignale.

Dunno :confuse:, it looks Korean or possibly Japanese. Is that a German license plate?

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Looks like a lifted Suzuki Wagon R, so I'll guess it's related to that in some way.

    You got the Dai part.

    And it is Japanese.

And that is a German plate.

    Any more guesses?

    Daihatsu?

    2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93

  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Daihatsu is correct, but the full name of the car is the Daihatsu Terios.

That thing is tiny, it makes the Rav4 and Grand Vitara look big. And it's horsepower rating is 63kW, which is like 85hp!! Talk about underpowered!
