I saw one of these this past Thursday evening... parked in the Valet section at the local shopping/entertainment plaza.. I don't think I've seen one in ten years...
It was black... once I circled it, I noticed that it was an 840i with automatic transmission... A very rare sighting...
Hi, does anyone know what the little red covertable was, which fit in the back of the Escalade EXT commercial? I can't find a video clip of the commercial, but the little red covertable looked sweet. Thanks!
Going back a couple of dozen posts, wasn't the Daytona the car that Brock Yates and Dan Gurney drove in the Cannonball Run I from NY to LA in something like 38 hours back in '72?
I liked the story when they were in Arizona, flying down the hill at 100+ MPH, only to encounter a bridge with some black ice on it!
For 99.999% of the population, that combination would have lead to an accident of epic proportions and one less Daytona in the world. With Gurney at the wheel, it was just an "oops, let me correct this" moment. Yates was well and truly impressed.
A college buddy of mine had a blue TR-7. He sold it before moving to Phoenix and ended up buying a late 70's Grand Prix.
Oh, and regarding that RX-7 ... my sister had one of the 1st generation models. I think hers was an '85 GS, light metallic blue. She convinced my dad to cosign with her (she was 19 at the time this was 1986 or so). She worked her rear off to make the $262 monthly payment. She babied that car for close to 10 years and cried the day she sold it.
It was truly amazing what that 100HP engine would do when coupled with the right chassis and low weight. Took it out for a few midnight spins up in the mountains and it was a blast to drive. Kept bouncing it off the 7000 redline.
Yep Fin, a Maserati 3500 Spyder by Vignale frpm the early 60s. I love the muscular stance of that car, it's even better looking that a Ferrari California.
Lemme guess...Italian coachwork, some American V-8 under the hood, built in, oh, Argentina.
Not bad Lancer, the V-8 is a Chrysler, the Coachwork is French (Chapron) and the car was assembled in France, with various nationalities contributing to the design. It's a Monica 560 from the mid-70s, the creation of a French industrialist.
Everything I know about this car is to be found here, it's a long story about a short production run.

It turns out to be a Fargo truck, a vehicle that Dodge sold in Canada (note lettering on hood).

I guess you didn't recognize one of the 800 or so Borgward Hansa 1800s built from about '52 to '55.
