FSO did produce a car like that the 124 up until the late 80's. My parents actually owned one when we lived in Poland. Did you know in the FSO version it actually had 4 wheel disc brakes? Not sure why cause you could never get it up to speed to require such stopiing power.
Dang I thought that one would last longer  MT4s are getting a mazing prices these days. For those who don't know the Maserati brothers started OSCA after losing financial control of the firm that carries their name, OSCA built many successful racing and formula cars in the 50s and just a few Gran Turismos like the MT4.
Well at least some can see it. Sorry about that but you are right Fin. From what I can see the "Banana Bird", as we called it has become extremely collectible. '61s are pulling over $40k and you don't wanna know what a Banana Bird with the tonneau and wires fetches.
We might have a better shot if it wasn't such a crappy picture!
I'll take a shot and say it looks Vignale or Touring bodied. Perhaps a variant of the Fiat 8V ca. 1955. The small fins in the rear are similar to some Ferraris of the period.
Yep it's a Daytona, also known as a 365GT4 or GTS4 I think. Those cars are the ones that really shot up in the market craze of the late 80s, and are now worth less now than then.
The Spyder version of the car is what they had on Miami Vice...a fake, of course.
The 275GTB was the 60s car on a completely different plane of value
What's so crappy about the picture? Looks fine to me....
Actually not too bad a guess, my compliments...you are in the ballpark but wrong coachbuilder. It's a more common builder, although the car itself is quite uncommon.
Just so we have it straight, the car we know as the Daytona goes by 365GTB/4 in Ferrari lingo which is confusing because the first Boxer Berlinettas were called 365GT/4 BBs. They were completely different having a Mid-mounted Flat 12 ionstead of a V12 up front.
The Daytona was a '70 with the Euro Spec "glassfront" h/ls rather than the later US spec flip-ups. I'm not sure there is that much difference in value between a Daytona and a 275 GTB/4 nowadays Fintail. Perhaps Shifty will tell us when he reveals the secret of his mystery car. :confuse:
No it's a Fiat, he got that part right first time.
Actually I got to thinking I might not be playing by the rules....I think that due to attrition over the years, this car is the only known example.
If you look REAL close, you will see the vague outline or memoey (grille, mostly) of a 50s/60s American car, which will then give you the last clue in the puzzle.

Fintail: yep, the new car from Erich Bitter ... care to guess what GM vehicle served as the base?

Was it the Holden Monaro, the same car that the GTO is based on?
Was it the Holden Monaro?
The Bitter has to have a Monaro-GTO platform
Personally, I find the lines of the Bitter to be better (ain't alliteration fun!), but I'm sure there is a premium for his coachwork.
They sold a car like that and also the Lada Niva in Brazil for a while. Until customers wised up - they were junk.
I remember you could buy a new one for something like $2 grand with the exchange rates at the time, it was crazy.
