Keerect Kev, it's a lot prettier than an Elise but has the same suspension.

I don't know how to tell the difference between the Vauxhall and the Opel version from the side. If I remember correctly, only the front and back badging are what is different, but maybe there's something else (wheels?) to tell from the side.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
IIRC there are differences in the detailing of the grillework as well but I'm not really sure.

    Malcom Bricklin imported them.

    Bob
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
That's what I was looking for. Bricklin is 0-3 in successfully importing cars into the US
(the SV-1 was built in New Brunswick, so technically not counted as an "import" under current laws). Anybody wanna place a bet on his new Chery project?

    Recognize this dash?=>

  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
Automatic seatbelts puts it in the late 80s/early 90s...I'm guessing one of those pod mounted gauges in a boost gauge, because the car's a turbo but had no gauge from the factory. It's obviously a coupe, and the wheel looks Mazda-ish. I'm gonna say MX-6?
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
...and I just right clicked and found out I was completely wrong.

    Oh well.

    That's the interior of a early 90's Nissan 240SX isn't it?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Sorry Bob, it's not a Camaro.

Hmmm... It's a '60s GM car for sure. I certainly "remember" the interior, but putting a name to it... A Corvair perhaps?

    Bob
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Corvair indeed, a '65 Monza (that's a Monza emblem on the glove box). FWIW I think it was a classier dash than the '67-'69 Camaros got.

Well.. My wife had a '90 240SX when I married her... but, I can't say for sure that is it...

But, I pegged the automatic shifter for a Nissan right off... I also had a '95 Pathfinder... The switchgear, shifters, etc. are one place where you could see the difference in quality between Honda-Toyota and Nissan.. Nissan interiors always seemed cheap..

    regards,
    kyfdx

240SX it is. It has that odd slab-dash that Nissan used in the 240 and the Skyline (but there were no LHD Skylines), and you can see the generic Nissan tape player ahead of the shifter.

well I tend to get confused about British Aerospace manufacturers because it seems like they changed names every other year but that is a Hunter if I remember correctly.

And if I remember the manufacturers name during that time frame, I'll go with a Hawker Hunter. May have been Hawker-Siddley (spelling?) at that time. Can't remember.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
I was gonna say Daimler, but I cheated and looked.

You're on the right track, seminole, but think twice about the "Hawker"
  • seminole_kevseminole_kev Member Posts: 1,696
I'm talking about the Jet. The car I've go no idea. I'd guess a Rover, but it could be any number of obscure British makers.

Jet though I'm pretty sure is Hawker or some version of that company's name along the line.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
I think the car has a connection to the jet
  • seminole_kevseminole_kev Member Posts: 1,696
..but didn't some version of Siddley (again spelling?) make cars at some point. That would at least tie the Hawker Hunter to the Car.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

The car is an Armstrong-Siddley Sapphire made by the same Hawker-Siddley LTD
that produced the Hawker Hunter. Both are ca. late 50s.

That's a cleanly styled car. Much as I like the Elise under the skin, it's not nearly as clean as that Barchetta.

When it comes to sheet metal, there's no one that bends it like the Italians.
