The car in front is a Maserati Mistral, I think. And the car in the back, I don't know but I think it's probably some kind of Jaguar.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
They are both Mistrals. The Mistral came on the scene in the late 60s just about the time the practice of having separately bodied Spyders and coupes was dying out. Here's another photo of the Frua-bodied Mistral Spyder=>

Love it, another clean looking roadster. I love the Elise but next to those it just can't hold a candle.

AMC AMX. Might be a '70, but I don't remember the details between 68 and 70.

Was that another name for it?

Try this one...Benz is easy but what year and model?

  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Actually its a 1968 or 1969 AMC AMX. My Dad had a 1968 model. The 1970 model has square parking lamps and a wider grille. The AMX was a two-seater while the Javelin had a back seat. The car was radically redesigned in 1971. Javelin/AMX production stopped in 1974.

...the 1971-74 AMX had a back seat. Anybody recall the Mark Donahue edition Javelin or the one with the wild red white and blue color scheme? How about the Pierre Cardin Javelin?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,462
I have a hard time with those 113 SLs...it's likely a 230SL or 280SL, as 250SL is a lot rarer. Year is based on model, but it is indeterminant without it.

Odd that the caps are different than the car...either from another car or an incorrect repaint I think (I don't see any red in the dash, and the dash face is body color).
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
280SL since they were the most numerous. Good eye on those hubcaps Fin, they appear to have black centers and they should be red as should the dash but I can't see any red.

It's almost impossible to tell year and model on those, even if the photo were larger unless it was big enough to read the badge in the trunklid :P .

the gen 1 (68-70) were 2 seaters. For '71, it basically became an options package on the Javelin, although that had a few hot models 9tied into the Trans Am series, where AMC was quite the player for a while)..

And I only know because I saw the badge when I snapped the photo!

Not sure what year either, I'd have to see the VIN or ask, but he was driving along on his commute.

My old boss had a 280 SL in that same color. He traded it in on an '86 or '87 560 SEL ... talk about extremes!

    Here's one:

looks like European lights, and the wheels at first look like Mercedes, but I think that's mostly becasue the picture is so small on my laptop.

I have no idea what it is.

It is European, that part I'll grant you, but it's not a Mercedes.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
It does in fact look European. I dont know what it is, but IMO I think it comes from either an Italian, French or Swedish car manufacturer. Don't think it's German or British.

But, here's my guess. Renault or Peugeot something?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,462
It's a Brit Ford Granada from the early 80s
  • michaellnomichaellno Member Posts: 4,120
Again, right on the money ... it's an '85 Granada, the car that preceded the (way homely) Scorpio I posted some time back.

    Another European sled....

Well it's obviously a Pigout, recent but not current. I'll say Peugeot 605. :P

Here's a popular SUV from India. It reminds me of the upcoming Jeep Commander, because of its tall and boxy lines.

The SUV is a Tata something (I can read the spare tire cover), although it sure looks like a 15 year old Montero.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
You're right, it's a Tata. Now does anyone know the model name?
  • cxvargascxvargas Member Posts: 30
    That's the old Safari.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
    That's the old Safari.

Or it could be a Tata Sumo, which looks just like the old Safari :confuse:

is indeed a 605. Every review I read of a large French sedan seems to be negative.

    I'll guess it's a concept update of the 456M.

I think Brazil got the Granada as a 2 door except there it was called the Ford Del Ray.

That Alfa is sooooo sexy! I love it.

The car with the bottle is a 60s Opel, unsure of model

The car below it I don't know, maybe a new Opel
  • negativenegative Member Posts: 107
I was going to say a Vauxhall Viva, maybe from the late '60's, early '70's. They were still quite common in the U.K. when I first visited there in the mid '80's. But this seems to be the Opel version, and I don't know what it was called. :confuse: ">
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
    Correct you are.

#1215 is the refreshed version of the Tata Sumo.
  • michaellnomichaellno Member Posts: 4,120
The older car is in fact an Opel from the 60's ... just waiting for someone to get the model name.

The newer car, while not an Opel, is GM based ...
  • negativenegative Member Posts: 107
Got it! An Opel Rekord. Apparently, not the twin of the Viva after all. :shades:
