Well I knew you'd get it! For the rest of you the 133 was SEAT-made but sold as a Fiat in most markets. 850 Mechanicals.

Three identifiables in this shot, though it's tough to pin an exact year on any of 'em:

Maybe around a 64 Dodge Dart convertible, 57/58 Checy pickup and maybe a62 Corvette?

The Vette looks newer than that, to me.. '63-'65, I think...

Pretty good job, Berri. IMCDB sez the Dart is a '64 but IIRC itcould just as easily be a '63 or a '65. they say the Chevy is a '55 Apache, not sure if they're right so it could possibly be a '57 or '58. The 'Vette is definitely a '62,it's not readily apparent in that photo but it is in other shots>

Sorry Kydx, from the rear the '61-'62 Corvettes are identical to the '63-'67 C2 Stingrays.

I guessed based on the dash, it didn't look like the cool Sting Ray dash because the driver's side was higher than the passenger's.

Can't get to the Reply button, but the two-tone red thing looks like maybe a Kurtis 500M.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup, it is a 1965 Kurtis 500M. IIRC these typically had Caddy power.

60 degree V6, Judging from the location and the low-profile air cleaner setup, I'd say a Ford 2.8 or 3.0. As for the car, ya got me--maybe a '70s TVR?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
You've got the configuration right but it's not a Ford and you're in the wrong decade.

OK, I can see we're in the '50s-early '60s here. There weren't many V6 engines on the market then. When in doubt, always guess some species of Lancia. I'll go with Flaminia.

Well, it's got a radio and upholstery. And not a very high rev limit. . .

Last of the Aurelia B24s perhaps?
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Hmm. That shade of turquoise is very Fifties. But the wheel design says Brit, not American, to me. Any chance it's an early '50s Ford Popular? Or maybe a late 40s Morris Eight? Or is my sense of scale just way, way off?
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
It's not British; North American product.

I believe its the same Lancia that was on the "Chasing Classic Cars" show. Had it from the engine bay shot.

Yes, indeed it's a 1958 Lancia Aurelia GT B24 Convertible, '58 being the last year for production of the beautifully built pioneers of V6 power, Lancia's 60 degree motor was the first production V6, debuting with the Aurelias in 1950..

It's a Norelco Electric Shaver, no, that wouldn't have wheels. Must be an Oldsmobile unda-Achieva.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,419
The Olds (under)Achieva, with its strangely proportioned wide-hipped rear end. I will guess it is a 92.

I knew a girl who had one of these when I was in school...I don't recall what year it was, but by 1996 or so it was already becoming very unreliable, and she loathed it. IIRC she replaced it with a Civic...another conquest,,,
  • andre1969andre1969 Member Posts: 26,023
We still have an Achieva or two, as a gov't owned car that the bigwigs use when they have to go down to NASA HQ in DC, or other local areas. About a month or so ago, I had to load some stuff in its trunk, and just for kicks I sat in it, gave it a once over, etc. I was actually shocked to find that it had the DOHC 4-cyl under the hood, rather than some pushrod piece of junk. I guess this was still some version of the Olds Quad 4? I sat behind the wheel, and, well, I'd put it slightly ahead of my uncle's '03 Corolla, but that's about it. Oh, other faint praise...I could fit in the back seat, and I think the back windows went down all the way. I think it was a 1996 or 1997. I remember we got 5 of them for $65,000 total...or $13K apiece.

Before the Achieva, we had some Corsicas, so I guess this was a little bit of a promotion.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Yes, that might have been the Quad 4. The standard engine was a single-cam Quad OHC derivative, though. The "hot ticket" was the Quad 4 with the five-speed in the coupe. But most folks bought the V6 or the Quad OHC with automatic instead.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,419
Wow, talk about getting their money's worth, keeping fleet vehicles for so long. I'm actually pleased to see that, and amused that bigwigs get to use something as mundane as an old Achieva.

Around here public sector fleet cars seem to be kept a lot less than 10 years...in the past 5 years many public sector fleets have bought Prius...will be interesting to see how they hold up.

I've only driven a Corsica once, as a rental, ages ago. It was the definition of bland, but I don't remember it having any problems.
  • andre1969andre1969 Member Posts: 26,023

Hmm, now you have me wondering if this thing was DOHC or not? I do remember it being OHC at least, and not pushrod. I was also impressed that the hood stayed open by itself, without the help of a prop rod. Nowadays there are cars costing $30-40K and more that can't even do that!

I always thought the coupe version of these cars was really attractive.

Yeah, I guess we are pretty good about making our vehicles last. I still see an early 1990's Suburban running around the center, doing mail/small package delivery and pickup. It's more gray than white, as the paint has stripped off, but so far the rust is being kept pretty much at bay.

There's also an '03 or so Dodge Caravan that I've seen the bigwigs use to take down to headquarters, whenever more than a few of them are going at once. So for the most part, I guess we go for practical and not flashy.

Speaking of seeing how the Prius holds up, a friend's daughter has a 2nd gen Prius with 160k+ miles. It held up great, HOWEVER now needs a new battery system at a cost of $2300+. So much for any savings.....
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
The caption did not givethe MY of the Achieva, they were made from 1992-98 according to wikipedia.com. I find the four-door model of this car more attractive than the rather generic-looking coupe
