Possibly because it's a '65 Chrysler Newport.

Looks like a 50s yellow with a Gold Two-Tone from a 90s Subaru Outback.
Yep, 1980 Ford Durango, they're actually fairly rare.

year with the gear selector on the dash!). The optional 45rpm
record player was offered at least through 1960 as I remember
reading about it in the owner's manual for my Dad's 1960
Plymouth Belvedere.
Of course he could barely afford the car even without the silly option....
Could be but that would be another reason why it didn't catch on.

See, not all of Virgil Exner's designs were controversial.
He probably played 8 tracks. :P

No time for more guesses. I yield my turn to others

If anyone is still interested (I was away for a day) you are right, Lemko, or anyway essentially right. The Highway Hi-Fi used 16-2/3 rpm records (1/2 the speed of a 33-1/3 LP). Must have stretched the meaning of 'Hi-Fi', but working through one of the standard 2 inch speaker of the time nobody probably noticed. Besides, with the arm skipping all over the record whenever you hit a bump or expansion strip, distortion was probably the least of the distractions.

Hey! That robot was previously a jukebox on Dobie Gillis and played 45s.

I think you're both wrong. That car has the North American market style side markers
so I think it might be a variant of something that was sold on this side, namely a Honda Civic.
Gen II Civic 5-door.

The Packards and Studebakers are tough because they were so broke by then that they hardly changed a thing year to year, and the photos aren't very clear but.....
I'd say 56 Packard based on the grill
to *our* left of the Packard is a '56 Studebaker maybe a Golden Hawk based on color scheme and to our *right* is a.....'56 (?) Studebaker President Classic
In the doorway, looks like a '54 Buick
I'll leave the rest for now...
lt. green '51 Cadillac, then the above-mentioned Studes & Packard. Something says the black one in the doorway is not a '54 Buick, but I really can't be sure what it is; the 2-tone in the store looks like a '55 Ford.
Anyone?
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
The clue to it's identity can be found in the lettering atop the doorway where it says
English Ford.
It is a late 50's/early 60's Ford Zodiac or Zephyr. Perhaps Magnette can narrow it down.
