Is that a Fintail in the bottom left corner?

What is the white car. That styling looks pretty spiffy.

I think the white car is a Borgward Isabella TS. And the VW convertible may be one of the two-passenger Hebmuellers.
  • jwilliams2jwilliams2 Member Posts: 910
I believe you are right....a Hebmuller for sure.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Good job guys, you've correctly Id'd all but the car directly in front of the prewar Steyr and the sedan next to it to the left of the VW Microbus. I think that's a Borgward, perhaps a Hansa but I have no idea what's in front of the Steyr, perhaps an Opel
    Kadette.

The VW Cab is definitely a Type 14A Hebmuller and the Merc is a 220S (W111) ca. 1960.

Yep, Hyundai and Cadillac----back from the dead. Most makes that sink *that* deep into the muck never return, but these two did.

Looks like a Ferrari 599 GTB but a new model I haven't seen before.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
It is a new version of the 599. Anyone know what they're calling it?

Is it Fiorano? Or am I behind a year already ? :P
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Well technically it is a Fiorano but that's not what I was looking for. The 84 topless Fioranos are called 599 SA Apertas. The SA does not stand for "Super America" as it once did but for Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina.
Aperta is Italian for "open" and apparently the top is only a rudimentary affair like the one on a Porsche Boxster Spyder.

Well it's got a Mitsubishi emblem (I think) but I sure hope i don't ever see one. What were they thinking?

looks like the current Outlander to me.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
    What were they thinking?

They either decided to stick a Lancer front end on an Outlander body or vice versa. :P
Personally I don't think the result looks that bad but the MSRP is insane. ($30K+!)

Hmmm....Does it have Fine Corinthian leather? Looks like a 1980 Chrysler Cordoba.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
It also appears to be missing the two front corner caps.

I agree. Its not hideous, but my $30k would go elsewhere. Like to a Forester and but some $$ back in my pocket.

It's a Ford V8 in a sports car.......and it's not a Cobra, so that's got to be a Sunbeam Tiger. Would hate to change spark plugs in one of those.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
OMG...I've been IN there but i can't recall what it was....i must have blotted it from my memory. Perhaps I could recall it under hypnosis.

yeah, it must be a Tiger. Did they have alternators?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yup, that's the Ford Fairlane (260?) V8 under the hood of a '67 Sunbeam Tiger. If you
look carefully at the valve cover you can seen the lettering for "Sunbeam Ltd."

Interestingly by '67, Sunbeam, along with the rest of the Rootes Group (Hillman/Singer/Humber etc) was owned by Chrysler but their engineers couldn't figure out how to shoehorn a MoPar V8 in there so they ended up buying the Fords until they discontinued the Tiger.

oh yes, forgot about the chrysler - hillman - plymouth cricket connection...long time ago. By the way that Outlander pic from your post # 27151 startled me a bit because it reminded me of seeing this for the first time:

a CRV with transitconnect headlights and a SRX grill.

just what I have been looking for!

  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
Haha! All that and "mobotic" technology too. What's that? Apparently some sort of new spin (ha!) on a toroidal engine design which has been around for a long time...oscillating pistons, round engine, etc.

Just waiting now for the sales pitch, "You've been waiting for this since 1966...the new Studebaker Mobotic Toroid..." Or not. :shades:

Have only seen this particular edition in a print advertisement. Not exactly period colors either: Year, make, model, have you ever seen it on the road?

Looks like a Mazda RX-3, but I have never seen one with all of the vintage bric-a-brac.

Funny ad too, as I have my doubts about that thing being able to do more than chirp the tires, at least in stock form.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    Looks like a Mazda RX3. I'd guess mid-70s.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
1977 Mazda RX3 SP. The ad promised that SP didn't stand for "slow poke."

When earth tones, browns and pale gold, were common even on Camaro and Firebird F-bodys the little RX3 looked like a "Hot Wheels" version of itself.

I never did see one on the street but this link shows that some - or at least 1 - survived.

58 Ford, maybe 49 DeSoto convertible, 56 Chevy, 48 Chevy and 57 Olds?
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
It looks like berri has got 'em all -- I can only add a VW Microbus in the distance over the shoulder of the '49 deSoto.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
Behind the 1948 Chevy, looks like a 1959 Chevy station wagon peeking out fore and aft.

    Indeed it does.

Anybody see a resemblance between the '48 Chevy and this beastie?

I usually can't get anyone to agree with me on this, but I've liked '58 Fords ever since I can remember my aunt's cocoa brown with white "scoop" Fairlane two-door sedan. It's the '59 Ford I just can't take...blunt in the front, blunt in the rear, with enormous "pie pan" taillights!

58-59 was not a great year for any American automaker when it comes to styling.

GAZ Pobeda...gotta love the commies, they hated the capitalist pig dogs, but they sure liked to copy their cars. Reminds me of someone...
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
The reply link is missing, possibly due to an oversize pic posted, but the white car appears to be a Russian Pobeda, my guess is about a 1955 model. These cars have a reputation for being rather durable and capable for the harsh Russian climate.

You mean those same guy who can duplicate a Rolls-Royce Phantom? :P
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,600
well, I don't know of duplicate is an accurate term :shades: ...mimic maybe. Along with about a dozen other cars. At least until its time for a crash test :lemon:
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
It is indeed a GAZ-20 (Pobieda), forerunner of the better-known Volga.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
"I usually can't get anyone to agree with me on this, but I've liked '58 Fords"

I preferred the 57. I thought it was cleaner. The 58 was an attempt to capitalize on the new Squarebirds. They kept the leftover 57 sides, but tried to incorporate Thunderbird styling cues in the grill and rear end. That didn't go over so well, so in 59 they focused on the new Galaxie with a more squared roofline and some interior T-bird cues. 59 was a good sales year for Ford. Of course 58 was a rather nasty recession year and GM came out with somewhat radical styling in response to the 57 Mopar initial success gained from all new styling. I guess you can say that 57-59 had a lot of styling ups and downs. It was an interesting period whether you liked the results or not. The 60's became much calmer in styling, but also a decade of many beautiful designs that still look classic today.
