    That's the new made-for-China Buick gl8 minivan.

I wonder if it's time for GM to re-enter the minivan market in the US? The top engine is the 3.0l DI V6, which isn't really up to par with the updated engines everyone else in the segment is coming out with, so likely not.

You got it (on all counts I think).

    Pantera?

but it definitely isn't very recent, given the fact that the tire has an actual sidewall on it!

Nope, sorry, it's not a Pantera but yes it is not anything remotely recent.

Yup, it's the fantastic wheel fitted to the original exoticar, the Lambo Miura, or to be more exact, it's a CGI of same from Gran Turismo 5.

Wow - CGI...now that I look at it, yes, I can tell, but I didn't think of that the first time...I may just have to get GT5 just for the cars!

1960 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron, followed by what MAY be a late 50's
    Mercedes 300SL (?).

Coming this way a 1952 Chevrolet followed by a 1957 Plymouth.

Across the street, a parked 1959 Ford, and a red & white '57 Plymouth
coming up from the garage. The white one parked in the distance
looks kind of like a '57-'58 Mercury, but my monitor is too poor for
    a definite i.d.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,604
    Definitely a 300SL roadster.

Hmmm, yes the two hood bumps indicate a 300SL but the headlights appear to be the 7" round units fitted to the SL "Gullwing" Coupe rather than the compound units used on the roadsters>

Kind of but with only a sliver of the top and slices of two apparently round h/ls visible
I'm thinking it's got to be a Gullwing. Perhaps the "fabric" is just a trick of the light. :confuse:

I see the fabric top too. The lights are kind of iffy thanks to the leviathans around the car.

Something just occured to me, I wonder if it could be an early version of the SL Roadster, perhaps some were made with the round headlights?

    Shifty? Anyone?

Mystery indeed, where are all the ignition wires? Hidden in the valve covers?

I believe the '57 300C came with a 392 cubic inch hemi engine which was used in '57 and '58 - the replacement 413 did not come out until '59 (I had one in a '59 New Yorker).
  • jwilliams2jwilliams2 Member Posts: 910

Yes, that is definitely a 392ci Hemi. Not a 413, which was a wedge. And the spark plugs are under the black cover that runs down the middle of the valve cover.
The wires are routed under this cover to the distributor between the engine and the firewall.
My first car ('53 DeSoto) had a Hemi in it, although it was just a 276ci with 160hp. Same layout though.

72 Ford Torino driven by Bobby Isaac. #15 was also driven by Fred Cady and Darrell Waltrip. Isaac seems to be the best fit for the blurry name above the door.

    I think it's a Renault 10, but then it's probably not what I think......
The hood ornament should give it away, but I don't recognize it.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Might be a Dacia version of the Renault 10.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
You guys are on the right track. It is a Renault 10 built in Mexico and sold there
as a 1971 Datsun R10. Apparently this was a pre-merger form of cooperation between Nissan and Renault.

Looks like a late 40's GMC Pickup, early 50's Plymouth, and a trio of cop cars, '61 Chevy, '63 Ford, and '62 Plymouth.....
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
You've nailed most of 'em. IMCDB sez the black Plymouth is a '51 Cranbrook and the pickup is a '47 GMC Deluxe. The car you've identified as a '62 Plymouth could be a '62 Dodge, From that angle the main differences are in the grille which is blocked by the RR Xing sign.

Back in the early '60s most police units were Dodges or Plymouths. The movie A Perfect World takes place in '63 and features police cruisers of all the Big 3 from 1959 to '63.

It looks like a '62 Plymouth to me. The railroad sign does block most of the grille, but it looks like the headlights are level and not canted like the '62 Dodge. The rear quarter panel looks more like the Plymouth to me too.

Agree. To me the Dodge's headlights would look very different.

better late than never with a wagon of the TSX. I actually like the look from that angle, shame I don't care for the front shield look from Acura. Too bad they don't sweeten it with some SH-AWD action...
