Alfa-Romeo Tipo33 Stradale ca. 1965-66 (IIRC). This was a street version of the endurance racer fielded by Alfa's racing division Autodelta at Sebring, LeMans, Spa etc. and driven by the likes of Peter Revson and Mario Andretti. The white triangle seen on both cars was the emblem of Autodelta.>

    image

The mid-60s was the last time a car designed for prototype racing could be modified and licensed for street use like the Tipo 33 or the Ford GT40 Mk.III.

Indeed, it is an Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale - I always assumed the road version was a homologation special, but they were all raced I suppose anyway..

    Anybody on this one ?

Apart from the owner being a member of the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), nope it's got me stumped.

Looks like a early 60's NSU-Fiat Neckar Spezial...
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Close enough - The back of the car shows it as a Neckar Fiat 1100 - and it is also badged "1962"

Pegaso Z103 - no idea of the coachbuilder though.

Close, it's a 1954 Pegaso Z102 with coachwork by Saoutchik perhaps the most flamboyant designer of the 30s 40s and 50s. That Pegaso is pretty tame compared to their wilder designs.

Not enough tailights for the Impala.
I'll go with the 62 Chevy Bel Air.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671
Yep, besides the t/ls it's unlikely that an Impala would have dog-dish hubcaps and blackwall tires. The pic is too small to see the engine badge on the front fender but this is one of the legendary 409s.

I see several 1947-48 Chevrolets, a 1949 Ford Tudor sedan, a 1949-50 Pontiac off to the lower right edge, a 1942 Ford in the back, a 1941-47 Dodge truck, a 1946 Pontiac, and a 1942 Buick.

close but no habanos. This is a *special* version of the RS200--do you recall the name? And yes *bigtime* collectible---the most valuable car coming out of the 80s that I can think of anyway.

    1986 Ford RS2000 EVO

I can think of a car introduced in 1987 that ought to be worth more right off the top of my head>

    image

IMO it makes that Ford look like an old shoe but I defer to your expertise on whether it is worth more.

Yep, is that an F40? That's worth more.

But $160K for a 1980s FORD is not bad, you have to admit.

Although we could maybe say that a really bad F40 is probably worth less than a really good RS200 EVO. :P
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671
Anything would be better than a bad F40; that would bust you pretty quickly.

An AC Cobra approaching the speed of light? Edit - either you fixed it or my browser did, it looked about 1/3 shorter/squatter before...

I tweaked the photo size again to make it appear a bit more "normal". :)

Actually I'm a day early posting this ... if you get my drift.

It's definitely a British hearse, but can't tell what it is based on.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481

hint: it's a hearse yes, and it's a Ford, and it's not made in America, obviously.

I don't expect anyone to name the coach-builder, only the car upon which the hearse is based.

nope...think "birds". I'm surprised we haven't heard from Down Under on this one.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
    An Aussie Falcon?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Looks reverse-chopped, LOL.
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
I don't know about "birds" (unless there's still a Ford Falcon made somewhere), but the little side vent thingy looked just like one I saw on the road today on a Focus. But the Focus seems a little small for such a fine conversion...
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
I guess my clues weren't very fair. The car is a Ford Granada Cardinal Hearse, and there are apparently quite a few of them running around the UK and Australia.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
That must be a name given by the coachbuilder, or a mislabeled pic - the Ford Granada name has been dead in the UK since the early 90s.
  • mac24mac24 Member Posts: 3,910

I agree. That front end isn't from any of the Granada models.

    G'day

Sorry, I'd picked it as a Ford Granada but could not get the model year right. It is built by Coleman Milne. However I am pleased to say that it is not an import to Australia that I have seen. I always found UK hearses peculiarly ungainly. They have a pre-occupation with height leading to mismatched proportions. Australian hearses are usually conventional station wagon height with occasionally slightly higher roof lines

I know that Coleman Milne were using Ford Fairlane (largish vaguely luxury version of the Ford Falcon) but Ford Australia stopped making these some years ago. I wonder what they are using for a chassis now.

    Cheers

    Graham

I see what you mean (from the Coleman Milne web site):

Nice low lift-over height. Better than hoisting a casket up into a pickup bed.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Imagine the A/C capacity to offset that massive greenhouse effect.

Of course I doubt one of the occupants cares much. :D
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
I'm going to be toted down to the canoe in a little box of ashes for one last whitewater run, but there's still going to be a lift-over problem getting the canoe on top of the car. :P
