That's a '61 Chevy Biscayne. I love '61 Impala Sport Coupes...I think they're overlooked by a lot of people who love the '62-64 models.

Though, I can't stand the pushbutton radio that year, with the buttons that spell out "Chevy"! I'd have to find one without pushbuttons! A Chevy II, a Chevy Van, OK...but an Impala is a Chevrolet!

My Dad had a 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne two-door sedan with an inline 6-cylinder mated to a three speed shifted on the column. His car was sort of a cream color with a gray cloth and vinyl interior. His was dressed up a bit with whitewall tires and the nice full 1961 Chevrolet wheel discs.

Yes, I remember the CHEVY radio pushbuttons. My 1968 Buick Special Deluxe had a Sonomatic radio with the buttons spelling out BUICK.

That's a 1957 Mercury. '57 Was an odd year in that some cars had two headlights and changed to four in mid-year, including Mercs.

The Red Knight could have picked a better looking steed. :P

Let's not forget the background: behind the '61 Chevy cop car - '61 Oldsmobile, '63 Impala, '54 Buick, '61 Impala; on right - '63 Falcon convertible.

Can't think of the name, but I believe it's Russian and armored....
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,517
It's a Lloyd of some kind, I want to say 600. Definite face on that thing.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Yes, it's a Lloyd LT600 - 1955/61. This was a six seater with a 596cc twin cylinder engine, so I suspect excessive top speed wasn't so much an issue when fully loaded....

    Aston Martin DB6 Volante.....1969 MkII...
  • jwilliams2jwilliams2 Member Posts: 910
My guess would be an early model, maybe a '70, due to the lack of side dash vents....

    Lemko,
Are those pics from 'The Boston Strangler'?
Tony Curtis was very creepy in that one.

    Aston Martin DB6 Volante.

Yes, apparently the Aston belongs to Prince Charles, who got it from his mother the Queen for a birthday present back in the day.... it's nice to be the Prince.

    Glorified Prius

    Not quite.

It uses a tuned version of the Prius drivetrain, but it's actually based on an entirely different car platform.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Yes, its the late 50's manifestation, which I think they knew as the 17M MkII

No it isn't Marilyn Monroe; do you know the name of this 1950s Blonde Bombshell or the roadster she's getting into?

Well, the 'starlet' must be Mamie Van Doren, but the car??? It doesn't look like a MG to me, so maybe a Morgan????
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yes it's Mamie Van Doren but no that's NOT a Morgan.

    Maybe a Singer?
  • mac24mac24 Member Posts: 3,910
Nothing to do with the car, but the 'Grand Prix' on the pumps looks like it was done by a kid with 'Sharpie'.

Was it a real gas company logo or something made up for the shot?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    Yup, it's a Singer SM 1500.

I haven't a clue about the Grand Prix Gas but I think the guy is an actor named Richard Long who did a lot of TV back in the day (notably Big Valley)

    G'day

Lexus l220h if sold in Australia. Markedly different set up to the Prius and, certainly in Australia, pretty keenly priced. This has resulted in Prius sales essentially stopping down under and they are having to shop about $10,000 of the (overpriced) Prius to get them moving again

    Cheers

Saw one yesterday; the first for many years in Australia; POrshece 914. Looks cool but the VW engiune noise is a turn off.

    G'day

Prince Charles 21st brthday present from his mum. A 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante convertible in Seychelles Blue. COnverted to run on biofuel a year or two ago. Actually prettier in real life; we used to live in Tetbury in Gloucestershire with Prince Charles living on outskirts of town. This is his preferred private car, used very regularly and absolutely pristine.

A genuinely lovely car, very loved and not as tired as most old DB6.

    Cheers

    G'day

Just realised that the previous message looks like I am up myself. However, when we lived in the UK, there were a lot of rather lovely cars around the area, including a gorgeous, but very well used DB4 Zagato, probably the prettiest Aston Martin ever. The nice thing about the wealthy Brit is their fondness for old but incredibly valuable things, which they continue to use for their intended purpose. The Zagato was used regularly to do the grocery shopping!

A friend is an Aston Martin specialist (and Rolls, Bentley and Jaguar) and hence, whenever we visit he seems to have one or two in the garage. Apparently tuning them is very interesting.

    Cheers

Fiero GT, one of the later ones. I'll guess 1988.

Those look like aftermarket rims to me.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Mamie aka Joan Olander is apparently still alive and a smokin' 80 year old.

That Singer must have been a U.S. import. It was not a car that Americans took to whatsoever, having been totally upstaged by the MG TD.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yup, it's a 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT w aftermarket Forgeline wheels.

Both named "Acclaim" (Plymouth and Triumph), the older car a rebadged Civic.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481

The Acclaim was also marketed as the Dodge Spirit and Chrysler LeBaron. One of the last of the K-car platforms.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Is that a Civic or an Accord?

    I was thinking...

    Accord
    Acclaim

    ACC.

Yup, the next to last Plymouth was the Acclaim; the last Triumph model had the same name. Neither car earned much acclaim in the real world
