I like it, just to see what they do to get the cars ready to re-sell. A fair amount of time is spent showing the nuts and bolts of (typically minor) restoration work.
They often make a bit of money on a cash-only basis, but include nothing for the many man-hours of work required.
No, they don't make much profit most times, and certainly not enough to cover the hours. But the host claims he just likes "giving the cars a second life."

I love it. Get so see some cars we don't have in the US like the Lancia Delta Integrale (WANT!!) from a couple of years back or the Pug 205.
Yes, if they counted man hours into the cost they would be way underwater in most cases but it is what it is...a good show for us 'petrol heads.'
One of my favorite lines was from the Corvette episodes and Edd commented that they would need to fix the instrument cluster as 'Yank cars had notoriously bad electrics'
What?? A Brit commenting on the electrical systems in our cars?? Lucas, Prince of Darkness much there Edd?

You should get one - probably can be had for the price of a new Miata...only drawback is that it will break down, leave a puddle, probably rust, maybe catch on fire now and then.
And yeah, Wheeler Dealers is a pretty good show. Many clips of it are on Youtube, too. Some of their stuff is questionable (custom painted VWs, bright yellow 57 Chevy), but a lot of it is cool and it is interesting metal not usually seen on this side of the pond. Edd is the most patient and relaxed mechanic I have seen.
Like Fin said, you really mean 3 cars just for you, right?
And with the hint, easy. I saw the Elan episode not too long ago. pretty quick with the hot rod motor it had in it too.
It was actually fascinating seeing how some of the engineering was done (as Edd took it apart). especially the rear differential and suspension set up.
The best way I can explain it, even though it sounds strange, is that the British electrics were reliably unreliable. There was nothing intermittent or ambivalent about them---they just burned up and failed. On the positive side, you could often whack, slam or otherwise beat British electrics into waking up again for a short chat on the way home.
It's even odder than that. Sort of the [non-permissible content removed] child of an Accord front end and Civic station wagon rear. Sold in Japan and Europe as a Accord Aerodeck.
The concept of a two door station wagon is sometimes described as a Shooting Break, the idea being that "sportsmen" could have a sports car with enough luggage space to carry shooting or fishing gear. If you poke around a bit, you can find examples from about the 1920's forward on luxury chassis.
The only examples of the Accord Aerodeck that I can recall looked a bit sad around the edges; it was not a design to age gracefully.
The rear hatch was way before its time opening quite a way forward along the roof line and was glass in the horizontal roof section as well as the vertical

Well put my Ozzie friend but IMO it's a nice piece of design. If it looks a little dated it's because of the tallish windows. A 1960s/70s BMW coupe looks dated in the same way but they're still great looking IMO.
I like the Aerodeck better than the 1980s wagons we got.
The blue Poncho is a '64, it's impossible to say if it's a Catalina or a Bonnie without a better look at the grille. The light colored Ford behind it looks like a '63 Galaxie, not a '64 Fairlane. The tan wagon behind the Bug is a '68 or '69 Ford Fairlane wagon.
If the photo had been taken in NY or San Francisco, that lone VW would be joined by several more imports including a Datsun or Toyota.
I'll need to watch those on the Quattro, they do find some neat cars for decent prices, I was surprised what they were able to do with the 928 a while back.

Just to stay on topic, I just saw one of these (in slightly better shape):

I couldn't open the youtube link, so will just have to guess which car it is. If you give me a hint.
Pretty sure it isn't the VW panel van or the Bond Bug.

Yep. I followed a nice looking one into work yesterday. That's the version I like, later ones, not so much...
The car that inspired the Miata...
I would, but then I'd need a daily too. I'm not commuting in a minivan so that would mean 3 cars.
That won't pass the wifey veto. LOL
Let me guess - what's hers is hers, what's ours is hers, what's yours is hers? :P

Correct. It sounds ridiculous, I guess. I'll have to join the CCB club or something.
Never seen that, but I'll guess 1984 Civic Wag-o-van.
This may be the original Odyssey. Also an '84.

It does and it's the car that dates the photo but once again, I'm not sure how you can tell if it's a Bonneville or a Catalina.

DVR'd a couple of episodes and realized I've watched it before, once. The episode with the Saab 900.
Just watched the 2-part episode on this cool car:

We all know it'll find buyers, one way or another.
The Rolls one looked much worse, too.
