    '73 Buick LeSabre 'vert?
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
My eyes Andys. That paint job is fugly!
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
The early 70's Buick Centurion had a very similar body to Lesabre except for some trim. 1973 model year sounds like a good guess too.

Yep, it's a '73 Buick Centurion. Anybody know if that paint scheme is factory? It might work better with different colors.

Well, the white Lincoln looks like a '58 or a '59, but I'm going with '59. I'm guessing all the others are Peugots, but I have no idea what model or year...
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
    Oops, it's a 58.
    Check out the front bumper.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
Black cars do appear to be Peugeot 404s, all with French plates
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
You are definitely correct. Those '58-'60 Lincolns are getting me confused! :confuse:
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup, it's a '58 Lincoln parked next to several Peugeot 404 taxicabs.

    G'day

Chevrolet Cruze Wagon. We get the Sedan and Hatch her in Australia, but not the wagon at this stage.

Very pretty and pretty well screwed together, so they are selling well in Australia. Some of the design of the wagon draws cues from the Holden Commodore Sportwagon.

Yup, it's a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon, sadly sold in non-US markets only. IMO it looks at least twice as good as the rather drab Cruze sedan.

Could that be a Sunbeam (Hillman) Imp? :D
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
Besides the Sunbeam roadsters, could the orange vehicle be a Renault Caravelle?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Could that be a Sunbeam (Hillman) Imp?

Yup that's an Imp, the Rootes Group's answer to the Beetle and the Dauphine. There's no way to tell if it's a Hillman, a Riley or a Sunbeam. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen one, not many came to the US.

There's a nice trio of Sunbeam Alpine roadsters up front along with a red-orange Renault Caravelle.

Did anybody spot the two Dauphines? (hint :they're both inside a structure). There's a fourth Alpine (next to a Dauphine).

How about the silver grey car next to the Imp?

Anyone want to guess the year?

Ohhhh.....the year is kinda tough, but based on the Imp history, I'm going to guess about 1964-65.

The gray car might be a Peugeot 403.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
I'd say silver car is a Peugeot (esp as the pic says it's a Pug dealer), 404.

Right click on the pic reveals a 356 in a garage too. Fun dealer where the French cars are the most reliable you sell.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Close enough, the year is 1964.

The grey car is a Pug but I think Fintail is right, it's too squared off for a 403, more like a 404.

Good eye Fin. Right click and you can get a larger version in which you can see the nose of a Porsche 356A peeking out of a garage.

Speaking of garages, there are a coiuple of cars under the word "Parts", see 'em?

looks like the nose of a red MG T series in the center (poking out of a garage bay behind a mechanic)

Yup, it can be seen just past the Imp. Last call for the two cars in the garage between the MG T? and the 356A

    Nice looking wagon...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Under the word "Parts" in the garage visible in the upper left between the MG-T? and the Porsche can be seen the nose of a Renault Dauphine and next to it the tail of an Alpine, these were likely the two most opular cars sold be this particular dealer.

There's another Dauphine partly visible thru the showroom window it can be seen just past the blue Alpine. It looks like the rear engine cover is open.

The early 1960s were the golden age of Euro imports to the US. All sorts of odd brands and models were coming into the US ranging from the sublime (Lancia Appia!) to the ridiculous (DAF, Goggomobil).

Seems like those Bug taillights came out in 1970, so that would be my guess as to the earliest year the VW could be.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
Early 80s Maserati Quattroporte - somehow I like these, like an Italian revision of period angular GM design. A horrible pain to keep on the road, no doubt.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
No passenger side mirror, how bizarre is that?

Like a base 1984 Honda Civic...
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
Seems relatively common for cars back then - MB W123 can be found the same way. Maybe for the Maserati it was meant to make the car look sleeker.

It's an Italian car. aren't you supposed to rip off the mirror anyway, because no one cares what is behind you?

I'll take the easy one--Cobra. No clue on the red.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
The red one is a US-spec Ferrari 365 GT/B Daytona Spider unless it's a Corvette-based replica like the one on Miami Vice.

I think the one in the movie was real..

Of course, in the movie.... he tears off the inside rear view mirror and tosses it, as he says the line... :)

    My '82 Accord didn't have a right-side mirror, either....

I was thinking those Beetle taillights came later.... like '72..

A right-side mirror used to be the first thing I'd buy when I got a new (or at least new to me) car. You can't drive the way I do in NY area traffic with out one :P .

I'm trying to recall the MY of the first car I bought that came with one. IIRC it was a 1983 VW GTI, also my first car with a/c (what luxury!)

My '77 Cobra II had a right-side mirror... IIRC, it had the manual toggle adjustment on the dash, just to the right of the steering column (unless that was a different car.. lol).

I'm close to you. my first new car was a 1985 Dodge colt. No RH mirror, but I got a factory part and put it on myself. SInce it also had no rear defogger, that was a nightmare in bad weather, if you ever wanted to change lanes!

the 1986 Mazda 323 we bought next had a RH mirror. and AC, first car I had where it actually worked!

So what are you worried about with only one outside mirror. We used to only have the one inside and you had to look over your shoulders!

  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
My 1968 Buick Special Deluxe didn't have a right side mirror either. It's the only car I've owned that didn't have one.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
We're spoiled now. I even turn it downward to parallel park, to avoid curb rash on the rims. :shades:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
On many cars, my E55 included, the selected mirror dips automatically when in reverse. Handy for avoiding curbs.

In the single mirrored fintail, no worries - thin pillars and lots of glass.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Good, because I'm sure those rims cost about the same as the Gross Domestic Product of some smaller countries. Approximately. ;)
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,467
Luckily wheels can be refinished. I've never damaged a wheel, I'd be very embarrassed if I did.
