Wikipedia says "The Force Protection Ocelot is an armoured vehicle that is scheduled to replace the United Kingdom's Snatch Land Rover with British forces. It will receive the service name Foxhound."
"Foxhound has a pronounced upright profile and narrower width in contrast to the Humvee, the trademark general-purpose vehicle of the U.S. military introduced in the 1980s that later spawned the civilian-spec Hummer H1. (The U.S. military is planning to retire the Humvee and has been auditioning potential replacements.)
Those attributes make Foxhound better suited for navigating the tight confines of alleys, tracks and bridges in primitive environments. Despite its stance, Foxhound exhibits remarkable stability in videos of slalom and rough-terrain demonstration runs, suggesting that weight distribution is engineered to offset the tall stance."
I thought I read something about a civilian version, but guess I misread.
Ok, because of the two words on the 64 Chevelle's plate I will say New Hampshire. In the center there is the 65 Impala wagon with a 65 Belair in front of it. I think there is a Lincoln in front of the Maverick.
Your monitor is better than mine if you can read those plates but I think that's a '65 or '66 Mercury sandwiched between the Mavericks.
The photo is from Rutland, VT and the absence of snow combined with bare trees and a fine coating of salt on the cars and road suggest this is very late winter or early spring (1970 as indicated by the pair of Mavericks). We don't get much of a spring in Northern New England, the picture could be from as late as mid-April but it's most likely from March.
On those Chevies, the one next to the Merc is a '65 (Impala or Kingswood), in front of it is about a '67 and the white one's probably a '69.
Shoot, I'd MUCH RATHER have a station wagon than any stupid, ugly, ill-proportioned SUV, minivan, or cross-over! My first car was a station wagon and it was both versatile and attractive. Not all Americans are vapid soccer mommies or their castrated husbands.
The ones that buy family hauler oriented vehicles though mostly are!
And I would not at all put my wife in that category (heck, we are prepping to be empty nesters, so the soccer momming is just about over), but she still does not want a wagon. Just not stylish enough I guess! Plus, there is the perception that they are more utilitarian, and less luxorious.
and yes, I explained to her that the CUVs are bascially just jacked up, overstyled wagons.
She did her time though, since when child #1 was born, we got a legacy SW (FWD it was so long ago). But at least it had a stick shift!
I don't know of many vehicles sold here that could be argued to be cooler than a MB E63 AMG wagon - and now can be had in NA with the performance pack, which makes it a virtual supercar, while being a sleeper at the same time. No MB or any other CUV-SUV is in the same world. The normal E wagon also reeks of class more than its lifted counterparts, just as 30 years ago, a MB wagon simply said "money", but in a whisper.
I like seeing guys in CUV-SUV things try to drive aggressively, compensating for the boredom of the vehicle. Often the ones who keep a perpetual layer of stubble or shave their heads in one last gasp of independence, before it is lost forever :shades:
I had this Jeep Cherokee on my tail the other day and my MINI could not shake him---I gained a bit in the twisties but not much, and he was right up on my in the straights. Given that I was just passing by Sonoma Raceway, and he turned in there, I suspect something out of the ordinary will explain this. :P
Tough call, but I might rather have a CTS-V wagon. I just feel it would be easier to deal with in the long run, not to mention available with a manual.
Oh, and there is that "much cheaper" thing.

All I have been able to get since Thursday last week is a page with the above splashed across it - on Apple Safari. It won't accept any messages to ask what is wrong - for the first two nights it said my profile was too large and would need to be reduced. If you try to post a message asking for technical help it just throws out FAQ's which direct me to stuff about cars, which is no good when I'm tying to find what is wrong with the website. Yet if I look at it from work on a cr*ppy Microsoft Internet Explorer programme it doesn't have any problems- although I have difficulty logging in there.
I know this isn't the forum for that issue, but am I the only one who is getting this problem?
I had that problem last week, now I'm able to get on (IE8/9). I emailed a problem notice, got an email this morning that the problem had been solved. So you're still having the problem?
Have you scrolled on down past that header with the "We've had a minor breakdown" message? I find my forums are A-okay on down the page. It's like Edmunds can't load a particular part of their CSS sheet but the important parts (to me) load okay.
I'm concerned they said that it's been fixed. For me on IE8 XP SP3 Pro, it's not fixed.
I must admit I don't miss the adverts - none of them are relevant for me anyway. But it seems to work at the office on IE but not at home on Mac Safari. I wouldn't mind, but it said last week reduce your profile, and I haven't even got anything on there - no photo, or anything.... Computers are like that though ....
The Profile problem was a non-browser specific glitch that rolling back the servers appears to have fixed.
You can always email a host if you can't get on the forum (at least you can if you've made a note of an email address). We're just stuck with Safari on the iPad here at my house so I couldn't help you with that anyway. IE10 seems to do just fine here.
on my Android phone it is fine. On my XP SP3 with IE8 I still have the "minor breakdown" message at the top.
I may as well confess that I also feel like an idiot as I didn't scroll down the first few times I came to the site and thought the whole thing was down.
I'm running Firefox on a Mac and haven't had these problems. My only problem has been that it sometimes will not load a discussion (it just tells me 'connecting' until I stop it and refresh.) The refresh usually solves the problem, although I occasionally have to do it a couple of times. I should note, however, that my profile is pretty minimal.

Inside Line just calls it the Foxhound.
"Foxhound has a pronounced upright profile and narrower width in contrast to the Humvee, the trademark general-purpose vehicle of the U.S. military introduced in the 1980s that later spawned the civilian-spec Hummer H1. Don't think that one's happening.....
Mercedes CLS Estate. Described as a Shooting Break which is strictly incorrect as it has four doors.

Very good. Check out the interior:
More at Inside Line.
Don't tell the Outback in my garage; it's already too much of an underdog.
Don't know about availability down in Graham's neck of the woods.

According to press reportage today, we will see it in Australia from November.
Prettier than the saloon (described as a four door coupe).

No wonder I keep getting beat up in dark alleys.

If you're really sharp, the picture will tell you what year it was taken, what time of the year and what part of the country.

And I think a Buick mid-size behind the Javelin.
the title of the bigger picture tells where (And I was there a number of times as a kid), plus you can see the plates on the chevelle.
I would guess tail end of winter, from the dirty roads, bent trees, and ski rack on top of the chevelle. Lot of Snow in vermont!

It has to be winter of '69 (or later) because that's when the Maverick came out.

CTS-V wagon can be argued to be the coolest American car made at the moment.
