'57 Studebaker President two-door sedan. I still see a lot of President four-doors of that era at Stude meets, but a two-door sedan, particularly in President trim, is a very rare sight.
Studebaker lost $11 million in 1957, but that was down 75% from the $43 million loss in 1956--and with a basically unchanged car and truck line for '57.
That's a late '55 through '57 GMC truck next to it.

That Plymouth has some 'Christine' attitude, going against the grain, so I'm guessing the pickup backed out. Is that a Pontiac bubble top at the top of the picture in front of the 63 or so Chrysler?

I don't have any more of the picture but I can tell that yes, it's an MGB next to it.
Yep, it's a '57 Stude 2D coupe, yours for $3500 or b/o on craigslist SF Bay Area. Other photos show a very solid very complete car. Market value? Probably about $2500 should do it.
Well, it's obviously a Chevy, and probably the South American version of Chevy's compact SUV. Or it could be a disguised early Lexus Chrismas to Remember present. Disguised so Fintail wont coment. We all know how he likes Lexuses. :shades:
Toyota 2000GT, Sean Connery as seen in You Only Live Twice
Exactly, legend has it that producer Albert Broccolli commissioned the GT Roadster version of the 2000GT because burly Sean Connery didn't fit in the coupe.
The story has it that two hardtops were chopped because Sean Connery was too tall.
They were a gem of a car, I think developed by Yamaha and made by Yamaha, but definitely sold as a Toyota.
The chopped body is not a true convertible as that soft top cover, hides nothing usable.
I recently saw a clip of the cute girl driving it with Bond as a passenger whilst she calls in aerial support to lift the villains' Toyota Crown with an electromagnet for dumping in the ocean.
As always when seeing such cliffs, I suffer an urge to have Bond Movie Marathon.
You certainly don't show a girl's best profile, do you?
The lovely Lancia Flaminia Coupe from about 1960 but I am not sure whether it is the Pininfarina design (looks wrong as tail lights are too different from his stock upright fins) or Carrozeria Touring. The source sedan was a Pininfarina design and the Coupe likewise but there was a different version, with four headlights.
Zagato also did something and the same chassis was used as the state car for the President of Italy. The Flaminia was the top model for Lancia from the mid '50s to about 1970
Yup that is a 1966 Lancia Flaminia GT 2.3 / Touring. You can tell it from the Pininfarina Coupe by the odd tailights instead of the thin upright fins of the PF version. Up front there are 4 headlamps on the PF versions, two on the Touring GTs.The Zagato Sport coupe had more rounded bodywork. Like all Lancias of the day the Flaminias featured very sophisticated design with aluminum bodies, rear-mounted transaxles and V6 power.
Rumors are flying that the Fiat Group may discontinue the Lancia brand, one with a long and distinguished heritage.
Lancia is one of those questions; where did they lose their way?
Up to the takeover by Fiat, they made exquisite, almost jewel-like sports cars and delightful saloons (Berlina). The saloons were mass (well, more than one at a time) produced and the sports cars coach built. Oddly, for the Flaminia, the coupés were far more popular than the saloons.
When at university, an acquaintance had one, sort of purloined from her father. In searching the net, I find that her father has continued the love affair, with a Flaminia, even when he is his 80s. He was a serious car buff, even in the 1970's and even wrote of his impressions of the New Ford LTD for the Australian motoring press
Lancia used to make lovely cars, so unlike Fiat in the old days. The Lancia world is rather strange to step into, even for today's collectors, but it is charming.
Fiat drove the nameplate into the ditch, much like GM did with Cadillac.

Horribly flexible frame. I used to marvel at the change in the size of the door gap going across railroad tracks.
Those back-up lights look like aftermarket add-ons, the trunk rack is definitely aftermarket. My '66 TR4A had no back up lights either.

Then came the Lancia Beta with the ferocious rust bug, after Fiat!
Everything since has been downhill. Mind you, if someone offered me a Montecarlo or Strada - hey, I have a nice dry garage!

For it's day. quite a handler, too.
Had upper and lower control arms, panhard rod with a straight axle, and struts on all 4 corners.
