I just learned how to post pictures and actually I forgot what model SAAB that was until after I posted it, but it is a Sonnet. Last Labor day we went to a car show at Lime Rock and my wife took about 250 pictures. I will post some other pictures.
Here's a trivia question. What do all these cars have in common?
2024 Ford F-150 STX, 2023 Ford Explorer ST, 91 Mustang GT vert
I think that most of them are British and several (especially the open wheeler nearest camera) appear to be Coopers. The funny little bits off to left and right suggest a Cooper Mk VIII which I think had a tiny engine (500cc?) and was run in Formula 3 in mid 1950's. Upper leaf of suspension looks wrong though
I think a few cars over is a Cooper Climax. The dark green number 8 car is bugging me; possibly Jaguar or Vanwall but I know that I had Matchbox model of one when a very small child.
The shark type noses are distinctive on some, as is the 1950's hump back for three of them. It places them from mid fifties to mid sixties
They are not all from a single maker so I wonder if the connection is the driver, engine or tyres; Stirling Moss is the obvious one for the period as he seems to have driven everything.
I cannot recall the closed cockpit sports-car or the saloon
The white car is a 1950s OSCA MT4, built by the Maserati bros. after they lost control of the company that still bears their name. I have no idea what it has in common with all the monoposti Formula cars.
I think the #8 is an F1 Vanwall. Perhaps these were all raced at one time by Sir Stirling Moss.
I am not sure that I would want it! See too many on my local roads, almost always driven by idiots. It is a Ford Performance Vehicles GT. FPV is a joint venture between Ford Australia and Prodrive (of Subaru WRX fame).
The basic Ford Falcon, on which it is built is threatened with deletion as demand has fallen steeply. The Falcon has been made and sold continuously in Australia for the past fifty years but is not overly relevant for current demands. However it is a good base for a muscle car.
Oddly the best engine in the current Falcon range is a 2.0 litre turbo, which shifts the car along much better than the conventional straight six.
Never too sure how to describe this, because the Falcon is a big body by Australian standards. I think the expectation is that it will be replaced by the Taurus.
Australians are out of love with big sedans - if they want big, they go for an SUV or large 4wd
A very lovely looking Jowett Javelin. A really interesting car.
It looks like the model which won its class in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1949. As a kid I had an adventure comic about it with black and white line drawings.
The Javelin was quite revolutionary for its time and is supposed to have handled beautifully. There was some problem with gearboxes, which Jowett made in house. I also recall something odd about the engine layout, with the radiator behind the engine for packaging efficiency.
Yup, it's a 1950 Fiat 1400. It looks rather American to me, like a shrunken 1950 Plymouth (a harbinger of the increasing influence of American design in Europe during the 50s and 60s).
The only cars I can positively identify are the '73 Impala and '73 Cutlass Supreme. Several other cars I could identify within two model years, but not exactly.
2024 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2LT; 2019 Chevrolet Equinox LT; 2015 Chevrolet Cruze LS
The photo is from 1973 (Honolulu HI!?). I think we've Id'd everything except the 1950s car that is forward of the VW on the left. It looks like a mid 50s GM from the shape of the wraparound windshield.
Then there's a Ford van on the right, it looks like a mid 60s version.
can't see the badges to tell, but it is either a Mitsubishi Starion or a Dodge (conquest?). Late 80s. I really liked them. Terrible in snow. That one has a turbo, but I suspect the hood is not stock.

I thought also that the Alfa just posted looked an awful lot like one of these.

C,mon Fin you can do better than that. It's a 1973 Alfa-Romeo Junior Zagato 1600, a neat little number that was never officially exported to the US.
Yest it does resemble the Sonnett from the rear quarter view but it's quite different from the front>

Feel an idiot as have just read sign on first car which mentions Stirling Moss and Cooper - at least I am part way there

Here is a closer picture of #8.
I couldn't read the sign, so I looked it up and believe it is a 1957 Vanwall.
It's been years since I've been to the vintage races at Lime Rock, it's nice to see such a high caliber of historic racing still going on.

http://fpv.com.au/gt_showroom/gt It is fitted with a supercharged 5.0 litre Boss engine.

I think that it is an MG TF but am always a bit uncertain on the differences between various post war MGs. Someone else will have a more accurate fix.

Too hard for me, but third from front on right column and sixth on left are VW Beetles.
It looks like a roadworks traffic jam to me with the white lanes turning off the road.

On the left, a '70ish Mustang notchback followed by a FS Olds followed by a Mopar (Belvedere?)
