The car getting gas is a '58 Chevrolet. Biscayne by the look of it. Oh, and it has a six in it. Don't look at the gas prices if you have a rope nearby.

Oh, and it has a six in it.

How can you tell it isn't a V8 (location of gas filler perhaps)?

It's a six because there's no 'vee' underneath the trunk emblem.

The '51 Ford is a Victoria hardtop.

Right you are. The V-8 had a 'vee' under the script 'Chevrolet' and the six had the Chevy emblem.

That's a 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty-Special. The Fleetwood Brougham has a vinyl top.

It's a 1965-66, but I can't tell which one. And its the longer wheelbase model, a bit bigger than a Calais (were they using that term yet?) or DeVille. By this time, I think they were calling this model either Sixty Special, or Fleetwood Sixty Special.

The telltale sign is the quarter window in back and the slim B-pillar. The lesser models were true hardtops.

Back in college, a local used car lot had a black '66 on their lot. Good shape, and they only wanted $2500 for it. I should have bought it! The driver's armrest was a bit daunting, with EIGHT window switches on it! Four for the windows, and four for each vent.

There's a Country Squire of about the same vintage in front of the other cab, which is a Dodge but I don't remember the year.

In my personal opinion only, the '66 Fleetwood is the last of the truly magnificent Cadillacs--mostly for that interior. Very little crash padding required by the U.S. government then, and none of the little plastic nameplates and such that were seen on other big, magnificent Cadillacs of the early '70's.

I also liked the (mostly) bare sides, which changed when the 1970 Fleetwood acquired a standard body side molding.

There was a very similar story to this fellow's, in our Studebaker Drivers' Club publication a few months ago. The lady had left the college-age helpful young man her dark green 1960 Studebaker Lark, which he had subsequently had repainted and still owns 35 or so years later. Not a Cadillac, though, but proves that there can be more than one benefit to helping an older neighbor out!

That is a '65 Country Squire. The other taxi is a '65 Dodge Coronet, and there is a '61 Cadillac to the left in the pic too.

Let's see...it's definitely an Austin Healey, and an earlier one, but the photo erases most of the features needed for a rapid ID....I'm going to say AH 3000 Mark I

    G'day

I sort of recognize it. One of the Big Healeys from the late 1950s! Maybe a 100. Drove one of the Healeys once and had awful problems with the gearbox which had no synchromesh. I do recall the spare wheel on deck.

    Cheers

    Yup, it's a 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6., supposedly with only 45000 miles.

I do recall the spare wheel on deck.

    Yup, it's a 1967 BMW 1600 (aka 1602). I figured somebody might mistake it for a 2002. :P

My kid brother went across the country in his buddy's brand new 1600 back then (jealous).

    Anyone know who designed it?

It would have been designed towards the end of the era when Harley Earl was the Design Chief at GM. His successor was Bill Mitchell. That car looks more Mitchell than Earl IMO.

The big 1960 Pontiacs did not have the split grille inaugurated in '59 and featured on all subsequent Ponchos with the sole exception of the '60 Catalinas and Bonnevilles (the compact '60 Tempests had it).

Yeah, I always thought it was a bit curious that Pontiac did the split grille for 1959, but then retreated for 1960, only to go back to the split for '61. BTW, the Tempest came out in '61.

IMO, the 1959 pretty much re-invented Pontiac and its image.

Interestingly, Olds and even Buick would experiment with the split grilles starting in 1967. The Olds wasn't truly split in the Pontiac sense, but you could tell it was forming. I wonder if Olds and Buick tried that, hoping to capitalize on Pontiac's success of the 60's?

Buick started toning down the split a little for '69-70, and it was gone entirely for '71, but it remained an Olds hallmark pretty much until the end.

That '60 is a beauty. There was a '60 Pontiac made into an ElCamino-like pickup in my hometown. A dark ruby red; I'll always remember it.

The Bonneville always had great interiors, but I've yet to figure out what exactly that Bonneville emblem on the front fender actually is! It grew to enormous proportions on the '65 model (my favorite big Ponchos). It's the one thing I like about the '66 over the '65--that emblem was gone! ;)

I like the translucent lucite steering wheels on period Pontiacs. I guess a couple others might have used similar styles.

Surely one of the worst looking Ferraris ever built, if that's what it is. Actually it looks vaguely familiar and I'm going to guess that it's Zagato's version of a Ferrari 275 GTB or perhaps of a 365 GTB/4.

Zagato went thru a really bad patch when they decided to go all angular and built the worst-looking Alfa ever>

I guess circling around the answer is better than circling around the drain. Actually, I found the answer when I went to look up that picture of that awful Alfa RZ. I suppose I ought to leave it up incase someone else can get it but if it helps I came pretty close.

Those Boranni wires are an important clue as this design came out as those were beginning to be replaced by alloy wheels.
