Going away just past the intersection I can see a light gray Chevy of the '49-'52 generation and to its right a white/blue Oldsmobile that could be a '52 0r '53, thus might be the newest car on the phot.

No takers on the pretty purple convertible? Hint: It's newer than it looks, MY 1953.

    It's a Lagonda of some model, suddenly it's 1939!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Right Fin, it's a 1953 Lagonda 2.6 Litre with a body by Tickford. I had a Dinky of it back in the 50s. David Brown bought Lagonda in 1947 creating Aston-Martin/Lagonda.

Looks like a Datsun B210 in front of the striped Chevelle. There's also a muscle-y Charger or Satellite or something at very far right.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,133
In front of the B210 a '69-ish Bonneville, in front of it a '72- ish Maverick?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,530
Does look like a maverick. With a nova to its right. And a 70ish road runner in front.

ok - I'm always hesitant on these but is the large white car above the VW an Oldsmobile - presumably a more basic trim version of the full size line so maybe some sort of 88 ? -and as to the year would it be a 74 model?
The larger car following it some way behind is an AMC Rambler - perhaps a 66 or 67 Ambassador ? I think I can see stacked double headlights?
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,133

I'm thinking that Olds (the further one) is a '72 because it lacks the 'battering ram' bumper of the closer one. And that AMC might be a '70-ish Rebel(?)

    edit-you're right, it's a 68-ish Rambler American.

Magnette may actually have the best shot at this one.

I'm not a pro on '70s mustangs but that does not look like any real GT500 I am familiar with. But it is Canada, so its foreign to me anyway. ;)

It sez Shelby Mustang GT-500 on the flank but I don't think it's a real original. It lacks the brake scoops ahead of the rear wheels and the grille details aren't right.
I think someone jazzed up a '69 Mustang.

The red car in back is a Rover 2000 or 3500 and the the blue car is a Jaguar saloon probably a 420G or Mark X

wonder how it would sell if Ford did that now? They certainly have the technology to easily do it.

I was out of town for awhile. So I missed a gorgeous 61 Impala, a nice 66 Mercury which I always felt were underrated by consumers and a seldom seen anymore Kaiser. Liked all three of them Andys!

61 Ford and an early 60 or 61 Mercury Comet in the front.

You are correct on the '60 Comet. The '61 had "Comet" on the rear fender.

I'd like to see the front of that Comet after the accident. The Ford's damage looks significant.

    '67 - Vent window.
    '68 - No vent window.

    NYC police Camry Hybrid.

    Nope, Chicago.

    '67 - Vent window.
    '68 - No vent window.

Yep, not to mention '67-no side marker lights
'68-side marker lights fr and rear

The hood bulges on indicate it's a Firebird Formula 400.

I'm pretty sure the wing is aftermarket. I usually don't like these but IMO it works well on this car.

Definitely not, like the '68s the '69s had no vent windows but did have mandatory side lights, they also had different side sculture and front ends.

Is that a Citroen DS I see behind the orange Ford wagon and in front of the VW...pickup?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,517
Yep I see the Citroen, behind it the VW, then a Rambler, then what looks like a Volvo.

Pic is no older than 1961 with the Ford pickup at far left.

Well it's either a DS or an ID (a less luxurious version introduced in '57. The VW looks like a Microvan when you enlarge the photo), one of the work versions not a nice multiwindow wagon. The location was Id'd by a Hemmings reader as Morgantown WV which struck me as an odd place to spot Volvos, Vdubs or Citroens in 1959-61. A little research turned up the fact that it's about a day's drive from DC and Pittsburgh and it's the home of West Virginia University.

I'll take the 57 Ford wagon on the left and the 56 Ford about half way down on the right. Lincoln on right in front of the orange Ford Custom already claimed.

    Puzzler winner here!
(Sorry for all the edits but it is best I not reveal the puzzler question and year because after my name, home town and state were broadcasted when the winning event occurred, I received sick mail from around the country. Not that any of my friends here at Mystery Car Pix would do something like that but who knows who reads these posts.)
