    Hello everyone,

What are your thoughts on these figures for a 2017 Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab 4x2:

15k miles per year - 36 months Lease:

    * Ally = Residual = 51%
       M. Factor : 7.49000

    * Chrylser = Residual 44%
       M. Factor : 0.00042

    Thanks in advance!

    Lease I got with Ally

Big Horn Crew Cab 4X4, V8
    MSRP $49,340
$0 down (other than 1st month payment, but no other cash down and no trade)
    $310/mo for 36 months with 10K miles/year (pre-sales tax)

The payment includes all fees as well like acquisition fee ($295), dealer doc fee ($150) and some state fees like title fee, plate fee, etc. Total fees came to right around $600.

Also no disposition fee at the end of the lease.

$300 and change for a ~$50K vehicle with nothing out of pocket, sounds like a pretty good deal. The MF was out of this world high, but the residual was 57% and + Ally has lease incentive cash, on top of a dealer that was very aggressive in getting rid of the truck which had been sitting on the lot for a while.

I ran the numbers for both Ally and Chrysler Financial (using .0001 MF and 49% residual) and Ally was a much better deal, due to the aggressive lease cash they offered.

    Thoughts?

Just recently got some lease figures on a 2017 Big Horn 4x4 CC in 03042. I don't have all of the details on pricing breakdown, but this was worked up on a truck with an MSRP of $50xxx

      10,000 miles 12,000 miles 15,000 miles
     24 monthsresidual $31,363
    monthly payment-$497
    residual $30,857
    monthly payment-$516
    residual$30,357
    monthly payment-$534
     36 monthsresidual $28,834
    monthly payment-$433
     residual $28,328
    monthly payment-$446
    residual $27,316
    monthly payment-$470
     39 monthsresidual $27,821
    monthly payment-$440
    residual $27,315
    monthly payment-$452
    residual $26,305
    monthly payment-$474
     42 monthsresidual $27,316
    monthly payment-$436
    residual $26,810
    monthly payment-$446
    residual $25,799
    monthly payment-$467

On the surface this seems high, but I certainly am not sure nor do I know how much better I can reasonably expect.

Make it easy, and just stick with 36 months.
Then, choose the mileage allowance that you need.

That reduces it to one set of numbers, and then you can ask for the details from the dealer.

Hello forum. Looking for some feedback on this lease offer in 55803:

-2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab, Hemi, 4X4
    -MSRP $49,580
-$11,000 in rebates, and dealer's lot price is $45,500 (so a lease price of $34,500)
-Residual price of approx $28,300 (after 3 years)
    -10,000 miles/ 36 month
-Monthly cost of $360 with $2000 down, $392 with $1000 down, or $423 with 0 down.

I thought the salesperson said a residual of 43%, but that doesn't seem to make sense. (must be 57% ?)

Any clarity on if this is a decent lease or not is appreciated.

What's the MF and residual on a 4x4 supercrew Big Horn 2017 for 36 months 15k miles? And what about 10k and 12k miles? Located in Phoenix Arizona. Thank you :)

We show .00010 MF and 49% residual through Chrysler Capital.
It's possible (and likely) that the dealer is using Ally Bank or some other 3rd party lender.

Looks like a good payment, relative to MSRP. Does that include tax?

Great. Does anything else seem wonky with the monthly price compared to residual value? Or does anything else stick out to you? I will probably be pulling the trigger on this and just want to check with an expert.

Seems like a somewhat high monthly payment for only about $6000 in depreciation. High money factor maybe?

Ally has 57% residual, it's what I got on my lease. Sounds like almost the exact same truck I got, my MSRP was $200 less. FWIW I ended up with $310/mo (pre-sales tax) also for 36/10 with $0 down.

As far as miles, my views on it is get the least amount of miles you think you'll need. Then if you go over, you pay the penalty.

With Ally the penalty is 20 cents a mile. So if you choose 30K miles and end up putting on 36K that's an extra $1200 penalty. Choosing the 36K miles option upfront is about $15/mo more which over 36 months = $576, call it $600 with tax. So basically there is a risk that if you drive 36K miles you will pay an extra $600 in 3 years vs pre-paying it in the lease payment.

So 33K is about the break even point. Drive below that, you win, drive above it, you lose. So I would rather pay less upfront and take the calculated risk that my total will be in the 30-33K range vs pre-pay upfront and hope I drive 33-36k range.

Thanks for the info, I feel the same way about the mileage allowance. I did find out these lease numbers are through US Bank, which must be fairly similar to Ally. My prices posted were after tax, license and title. Still, your deal is very good. Do you know what you end up paying after all the fees and tax?

3rd parties often have very high MF to go with the high residual, but that is offset by big incentives.

Nothing we can see that seems amiss.

Well there's not much to compute here- I don't think that's a good deal at all. There's basically $6,200 worth of depreciation over 36 months which is approx $172 a month. That must an insane money factor

Maybe I'm looking at things wrong but interest shouldn't double the payment...

It's easy for interest to be higher than depreciation. At 7% APR that is the case. But if the residual is substantially higher, it can be offset by a higher APR. Don't get too hung up on one or the other. It's the final number that counts. Also, 3rd party lenders give rebates as incentives, I got a hefty one myself.

And also don't forget about the other fees. Acquisition fee. These can range from $200 to $800. Disposition fee. This can be $0 (in my case) and I've seen lease companies charge as high as $700. Excess mileage. Can be 10 cents, can be 20, can be 30. That adds up to a lot f you go over the mileage.

Put all these factors together into a spreadsheet and see what the "total cost of lease ownership" comes to. It's not just the payment. Saving $10/mo on the payment with Option A but having a $600 disposition fee vs Option B is not a good deal, that kind of thing.

    ($34500 CAP + $28300 residual) X .00300 MF (about 7.2% APR) = $188.40/mo. finance charge

My payment of $310 included everything (doc fee, acquisition fee, title fee and plate fee). It did *NOT include sales tax and registration. Since everyone's sales tax and registration is different, it's a little apples to oranges to talk about payments that include these items, IMO. With sales tax it's $340, I paid registration myself at the DMV which is $80. And that's it, no other out of pocket costs to me.

As far as US Bank goes, the dealer I bought from, offered me a US Bank option and it was close to Ally, but not quite as attractive. Plus the acquisition fee was an extra $200 compared to Ally.

    ($34500 CAP + $28300 residual) X .00300 MF (about 7.2% APR) = $188.40/mo. finance charge

So a finance charge of a $188 a month for $6,200 worth of depreciation - cool sounds good! So how did the original poster of this deal make sense at $423/month with 0 down? Please educate

Finance charges aren't related to the amount of depreciation. That was one point.

I can't reconcile his numbers, because we don't have all of the variables, and some of what he has been told don't match the numbers given. That's another point.

The rest is just guessing, which was my other point. ;)

Sorry for the late response, the final residual value ended up being around $25,000 not $28,000 which is nice since it didn't really change the monthly payments. We also have a higher chance of buying it now at the end of the lease. The final monthly payment came out to around $400 with $1000 down at 10,000 miles / year. High MF of 7.5% but really good rebates. So a $49,580 MSRP and $25,000 residual value for $400/month for 36 months.

If anyone wants more detailed numbers let me know.

A very solid deal for an almost $50K truck.

    Congrats!

Not trying to argue here but I agree the 188/month is the depreciation. How could the finance cost double that payment though? I would appreciate a breakdown on your math, because to me this doesn't make sense.

No, the $188/mo is the finance charge.

$6200 of depreciation over 36 months is $172/mo

    $360/mo plus tax

Looks like the residual value is killing the deal. I could have sworn I have read numerous posters leasing a 4x4 RAM Big Horn for around $250-$300/month.

Maybe. But I doubt it was a crew cab with extras that brought the MSRP to almost $50k.
