Dodging the truth. Blowing that bottom leaf smoke.

Hicksrme: ""This be the best engine of
    them all now! "

You never answered my question: Who designed the ISUZU duramax diesel?

    I'll give you a hint:
    Answer: Japanese engineers.

You keep blowing smoke. Avoiding the truth because it is hurting. These are the symptoms of advanced stage Tundra envy.

Due to the continuous arguing and mudslinging that goes on in this post, I am not even going to bother checking it anymore. All of you, ESPECIALLY
TrucksRMe need to grow up and stop playing, "I have the better and/or bigger one". TrucksRMe, if you need to make up the size in the truck, where else is it lacking? And everyone else...Why keep arguing with him? It always turns out the same way. He isn't going to believe that Toyota is better than Chevrolet no matter how much you tell him. Just let it lay and talk about the trucks you all own: The Terrific Toyota Tundra.
  • trucksrmetrucksrme Member Posts: 381
As for that size, folks buy trucks for "workin" em, not too be impressin them folks at that country club, ceptin it seems, them folks who be buyin them tundras now. These yuppies, buyin them lexie motored, tacoma drive-trained ones, be thinkin they be gettin some sort of "upscale" superior truck. They just aint gettin it now. Trucks be for "workin". If them yuppies be wantin too chase that fad, that be fine by me, just dont come along tellin other folks that be workin em, how much better them limited ones be cuz ya read it in some magazine now. Good luck on this one now!
  • vocusvocus Member Posts: 7,777
Trucks are for whatever their owners buy them for. Maybe where you come from, trucks are for working. If you believe that, that's fine. But, you have NO right to tell anyone else what to buy when it comes to their own money. Also, these posts aren't for criticizing anyone, they are for owners of the listed vehicles to talk about their impressions, etc. of their vehicle.

If you, TrucksRMe, cannot abide by the rules and the user agreement and such, I suggest you leave the forum and/or Edmund.com totally.

Since this area is for Toyota Tundra owners and you keep posting here, what color and model are your Tundra? Do you have the limited or SR5? Access cab or regular cab? V6 or V8? I really want to know????? How do YOU rate YOUR Tundra?
  • trucksrmetrucksrme Member Posts: 381
What part of that ratin aint ya gettin now? Use them eyes on this one now. Topic be for ratin em and such, and so it be. If ya lookin too work that truck, best get ya a big3 "full size", if ya be reachin for that fad, or just wantin to rate one of em, that tundra be doin just fine now. Good luck on this one now!
  • xspechtxspecht Member Posts: 27
Guess you aren't going to answer my questions. Enough said.
  • redfox1redfox1 Member Posts: 42
I have mentioned several times to trucksome that this board is for Tundra owners. I, too, have asked him if he owns a Tundra. As usual he will not answer the question. I doubt he has the intelligence to understand the question. All that tobacco he has raised and chewed has dimmed his brain to that of a two year old.
  • trucksrmetrucksrme Member Posts: 381
Them that be rasin up that tabacco rarely be the user of it now. Farmin be a proud tradition, and be takin more intelligence then ya got the knowin of. Just as ya aint got the knowin of them trucks, ya aint got the knowin of them farmin ways. But this be the way of the yuppie, judgin them things they aint got no knowin of. Good luck on this one now!

You got old trucksinme figurered all wrong. He ain't blowin' no bottom leaf smoke. He's doing the opposite of blowin'
  • bamatundrabamatundra Member Posts: 1,583
I got this from the May '00 issue of Motor
Trend. They did a comparison of "full size"
pickups. They rated the biggest, baddest Chevy
    Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 L V8 and the 4.1
gears(which by the way is only rated to tow
    8000lbs).

They also rated the biggest F150 with the 5.4L V8
and the Dodge 1500 with 5.9L against the Tundra
    Access Cab V8.

You would think that this would be a mismatch.
The Silverado does have that barcolounger rear
seat. The Big3 engines are much bigger.

Here is the conclusion of the Motor Trend article:

"And the winner is... Which to Pick? In terms of
overall performance and sophistication - on road
and off - we have to say Tundra."

    Here are some facts:

4/10/00 Toyota Tundra is Consumer Reports Top Pick
for Full Sized Pickup in 2000!
    http://www.consumerreports.org/news/autos/Reports/toppick.htm

    3/3/00 Toyota's New Millennium Truck
    http://truckworld.com/Truck-Tests/Toyota-Tundra/tundra.html

    1/9/00 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine 4x4 Truck of
    the Year!

12/22/99 Motor Trend Magazine announces the 2000
Toyota Tundra as the Truck of the Year!
    http://www.motortrend.com/

5/4/00 Toyota vehicles dominate this year's
quality survey rankings by J.D. Power

    http://cnnfn.com/2000/05/04/companies/wires/carsurvey_wg/

Oh! - I forgot Big3 posters in this topic don't
believe anything that is in magazines. That is
because the magazines all say that the Tundra is
The best full size 1/2 ton pickup.
You prefer to get your info from Billy Bob down
the road a piece. (or hicksrme) LOL
  • bamatundrabamatundra Member Posts: 1,583
You got that right. You know how Clinton said that he smoked but never inhaled. Hicksrme's problem is that he never exhaled.

Lots and lots of tears flowing in here.....leaving puddles everywhere.
  • trucksrmetrucksrme Member Posts: 381
Ever notice all them tundra folks be doin is quotin this magazine or that? Then when ya point out some truth on them limited ones, ya get ya one of two reactions:

    1) They twist some tell from some magazine that aint got the knowin of them trucks.
    2) They got some crack on the one who posted the fact.

This be the way of the yuppie, lackin the knowin of em, and feelin foolish cuz of it. Good luck on this one now!

I love my Tundra. I have had a SR5 V8 access cab 4WD 6 months. The truck has been flawless! No squeeks, rattles, vibrations, windnoise - nothing. The quality of this vehicle has been the best of any new vehicle I have ever owned.

The DOHC V8 is sweet. It runs smooth all the way to redline. It runs like a scalded dog. This is saying a lot for a full size truck. The truck is very quiet inside - especially on the highway, but still has a nice V8 growl when you floor it.

I had a $2000 rebate saved up on my GMAC credit card and still could not bring myself to buy a Chevy. The demo I drove had numerous squeeks and rattles and way too much wind noise. The salesman said "They all do that" It also only had 3 doors - how absurd. I also found that a comparably equipped Chevy cost over $2000 more. The Chevy also had -90% predicted reliability in Consumer Reports - off their chart.

I test drove a Ford F-150. The Ford has been rated well by Consumer reports and J.D. Powers lately - a big plus. I sat in the Ford back seat and could not tell much difference between it and the Tundra. It has about .5" more legroom - no big deal. The Tundra had noticeably more front legroom than the Ford or the Chevy. I drove it and liked the Tundra smoothness, quietness, and ride much better. If you are considering the Ford, I would definitely also give the Tundra a try.

If you want to learn more about Tundras - www.tundrasolutions.com is a good place to go. The Ford - www.f150online.com

Don't try to reason with hicksrme - he is a fool. Normally I am more polite, but anyone who comes to a Tundra owners group to continually post bashes is not due any courtesy IMHO.

Did you ever see a child having a screaming, stamping tantrum in the mall?....

they DO it because they think they can GET AWAY with it, because the parent won't DISCIPLINE them for it in public....

ENOUGH all ready! It is the communities job to "norm" the members by ignoring the tantrums of the unruly. Since that is NOT happening, I'm going to get REAL FREE with the SCRIBBLE key.

Where do you see me attacking anyone????
Personal attacks threaten, slander, etc, people. I have done nothing of the sort. You don't need to be concerned about my salvation. My Lord is looking out for me. If I go astray, he will put me back in line, just like a good Father should.

    Take care.

FYI Bama, Citibank has a Driver's Edge credit card that allows you to work up a rebate on any new or used car or truck. You might want to look into that. I used the rebate on mine to help pay for my 2000 Maxima.

This topic was created for Tundra owners to rate their truck. Why is Truckforme allowed to disrupt this post with unbridled abandon? Why is he allowed to post his political views on unions, tobacco, foreigners, etc? Why is dbhull allowed to "preach" his religious views? Why does your "scribble key" only seem to target legitimate Tundra owners? My e-mail address has not changed as you well know, if you wish to contact me on these concerns.

I have only been driving my Tundra for a week. I just passed the break in miles (is it 500 miles?) So far so good. Big difference from my old Tacoma. I must say I'm a Toyota / VW guy. I can't help it since my dad is a Toyota / VW guy.

I tested the F150. I loved it as well. It is a great truck. I have been a passenger in a Silverado (not sure what size?) and I thought it was great too. Never been in a Dodge.

I suppose it's all about personal preference. I think I will enjoy my new Tundra as I have enjoyed my Tacoma.

    Have a great day!
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
I'm glad to see a positive view from someone!

Have a great day with your new truck!

Big rumor is TRD is coming out with a inter-cooled supercharger and the Y adapter for dual pipes is already out.
BTW I have a shell on mine and went with after market leather. I'm also thinking about polishing out the rims.
  • rooster9rooster9 Member Posts: 239
Do you have a problem with any of those so called "facts"?
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
If you don't mind, I'd like to get the details on your aftermarket leather. Manufacturer, price, etc. Thanx!
  • rsmtomrsmtom Member Posts: 28
What sort of mileage are you guys getting with the V8 (2 or 4WD)?
  • bamatundrabamatundra Member Posts: 1,583
I am getting very close to the EPA rating for my SR5 Access Cab V8. 14 city and 17 hwy. Sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse. It all depends on how much I stomp on the gas. It is a blast to merge, pass, etc. Plenty of power.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
    4x4 v-8 access cab.
Best has been 18.8 mpg on the hwy @ 70 mph. worst has been 14.2 all stop and go traffic in town
  • trucksrmetrucksrme Member Posts: 381
How that t100 trannie and that tacoma transfer case and pumpkin goin hold under that supercharger now? Ya must be talkin on that v6 one now? Dont see this one ever happenin now. Aint gettin them "hotrod" trucks no how. Trucks be for workin, folks should be gettin em a Z28 for fast goin. Good luck on this one now!
  • vocusvocus Member Posts: 7,777
There has been a supercharger kit available for the Tacoma for a while now. Check out http://www.trdusa.com for more info. Since the V-6
engine in the Tundra is the same, it will probably be available with the SC, but don't know about the V-8.

And please, don't listen to TrucksRMe. He doesn't know his rear end from a whole in the ground. At least with the Tundras and Tacomas, you don't have to worry about the engine having to be replaced as part of a TSB on a brand-new truck.
  • ratboy3ratboy3 Member Posts: 324
I don't like about my truck yesterday. I went to show a friend my new truck, as I was approaching her, I honked, only I heard a tiny itty bitty beep come out! ha!

    I have to replace that!

    Have a great day!
  • pinkertontruckpinkertontruck Member Posts: 1
I am shopping for a new truck and have test driven the Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Toyota Tundra. My friend recently purchased a 2000 Tundra SR5 4WD and just loves it. He has owned Chevy and Ford trucks before and tells me that he wouldn't trade his new Tundra for any of them. Actually I liked all of the trucks I test drove, (who wouldn't enjoy driving a new 2000 truck?) but I think the Tundra is still my first choice. I guess I'll have to give up my weekend to go down and start "negotiating" prices at the Toyota dealer......
  • dogsterdogster Member Posts: 94
With my Limited 4x4 Access Cab I've been averaging 14 around town, in LA traffic. Can't tell you what it gets on highway only because I'm almost always towing something big and heavy on highway only mileage.
  • yuppsteryuppster Member Posts: 23
The name of the company is Classic Soft Trim.
    http://www.classicsofttrim.com
I paid $950 for mine (I have a SR5 with Captain chairs) which saved me about $400 compared to factory leather. I also saved on registration and sales tax on the vehicle cost since it was done as a separate purchase. Even the dealer admitted it's a better quality and I was advise to let them do the color matching. A buddy of mine had his Camary and Supra done and it does look nice. They also do wood trim but I took a pass on that.
  • rsmtomrsmtom Member Posts: 28
...for your responses about fuel economy. Surprisingly, I'm getting just about the same with my '90 V6 4X4 5sp. It's got just over 218,000 on it, and I'm afraid that I've been pretty hard on it for the last 120,000 or so. I'm always carrying tools and misc. crap, and this part of SoCal is kind of hilly. Considering that the V8 is hauling around a considerably heavier truck (esp. 4X4's), I'd say you guys are doing pretty well for mileage.
  • dbhulldbhull Member Posts: 150
Just tells me that Ford, Dodge, and Chevy outsells Toyota more than 15 to 1. It is also a good indicator of how many people these days still love and support America.

See ya in my rearview mirror!
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Thanx for the link. I also have a SR5 with cpt chairs. The two-tone leather looks nice.
  • dogsterdogster Member Posts: 94
Hey guys/gals, forget TruckRme. See post 626 by him on Tundra vs. F150. He doesn't even OWN a truck but claims he drives a 52 GMC and owns a 65 Impala. Somebody he knows, Franklin, has a 2000 Silverado and they "work" a 47 Ford on the farm. He knows about as much about modern vehicles as Thomas Edison did about DVD. Plus he keeps claiming the Tacoma rear is in the Tundra. What a bozo. Gee how would that fit? Isn't the Tundra a LOT wider than a Tacoma? What a bunch of smoke (oil), mainly from his 6 cylinder, 6 volt 52 Chevy pickup or his 65 Impala.

    rwellbaum2:

Mean-Spiriteness....hmmm. Now that is a thinker.
I mean, my 11 year old cries less and takes harmless razzing better than you guys. My Baptist pastor is more "mean spirited" (if that is what you want to call it) in his Sunday sermons than I have been here. I think the truth is that you are just a little too sensitive. Maybe you are even a little convicted of your actions. Nobody is responsible for your crying but you. If you don't like being razzed and called on it, don't be crying.

I can't believe you all get so bent out of shape over something so temporal and meaningless as a truck. You all got way too many problems if you let the discussions here get you so balled up inside. Love life! Let it roll off the back of your hand! Why get so upset?

Now, I know the truth on my spirituality. I am a saved soul. Being a Christian doesn't mean I will be perfect in the worlds eyes and I could care less what the men and women of this "world" think of me. I only live for my Lords approval. Every man is born into sin and will even sin as a Christian. Christians battle with sin even more than the lost, because Christians are mature in their faith and acknowledge their wrongs as sin, in which, they must go to their Lord for forgiveness. The lost don't even know that what they do is a sin and just keep doing it over and over again, never asking for forgiveness.

Now, when you become one of God's children and can call yourself a Christian, then you will know the difference.

My sins are bought and paid for, are yours??? I would be glad to share with you offline how you can know for sure if you would like. My email address is in my profile and I have no problem sharing this with you. However, please don't cry in your email like you do here.

    Dan

I just purchased an access cab and absolutely love the truck, get the same mileage as my '97 S-10 I traded, but nothing else is the same. Has anyone an answer to the loose radio antenna. After 3 trips to the dealer I'm told it was engineered for flexibility. I can move the rubber base where it meets the fender.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
I just took a look at my antenna. It comes through the fender with a thick rubber grommet. The rubber allows some flex. This prevents damage from car washes, vandals, etc. Hope this helps.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
I will say a prayer to Mohammed for you, brother. Your inner turmoil has bound you hand and foot. I'm sorry you go to a church led by a mean-spirited pastor who has turned his back on our gentle savior. You are simply a sheep being led astray. You are not responsible for your hateful ramblings. If you are able to break free from the cult you attend, try an Assemblies of God church. They are truly God's chosen ones and demonstrate this by speaking in tongues. Do you speak in tongues?

What is it with owners of the big3 that has them so upset about the Tundra. Is it the Motor Trend truck of the year thing. Consumer Reports top pick for full sized pickup is that it or J.D.Powers FIRST IN CLASS>. I think it's because it out accelerate out brakes your and super quality to boot. I got it it's the it the double overhead cam 32-valves you do not have! What is it help me out here thank you
  • dbhulldbhull Member Posts: 150
You show your ignorance of the true Word. If you claim to have knowledge of the Word, send me an email to your personal testimony of coming to know Christ and accepting him as your Lord and Saviour. I would venture to say you will greatly botch it up and don't have the first clue.

If you are aware as you claim, you would know that Salvation has no reference to the name posted above the Church entrance door or the "religion" it supposedly rests its doctrine on. It has to do with the KJV scriptures, pure and simple. Something you have revealed to be totally clueless of. I guess you count the Sunday school days as a child when your Parents drug you off to Church kicking and screaming.

How about pointing me to the scriptures in the KJV bible (the only acceptible English translation) that tell us of Salvation and what it means to be a sinner. Do your research quick now.....

First off, only them that aint got no knowin of trucks have put any hay in what them magazines say. Them that work em, be knowin em. As for acceratin and brakin, read that fine print, as it aint doin niether, lessin ya "equip" them big3 ones in a certain way. As for that quality, it be the myth, as many who popped them head-gaskets and had em rust out under em can be tellin ya. Ponder this one: If they be so superior too all them others, why they gettin outsold by all of em, includin them nissans and them big3 little ones? There be your help, start twistin on it. Good luck on this one now!

Months ago I read a post from someone that said they worked in the plant that built Tundras. He said that in 2001 Toyota was planning to change the Tundras rear seat by sloping its back to make it a little more comfortable. Anyone else hear any rumors as to 2001 changes to the Tundra.
  • dogsterdogster Member Posts: 94
Must be jealousy, or just a few ignorant few Big 3 owners. From the tests I read, the Tundra outperformed the F150 with a 5.4, the Chevy with the 5.7 and of course the Dodge 1500 with the 5.9. As far as "workin em" and "knowin 'em" this guy admitted he doesn't even own a pickup but drives a 52 Chevy on a farm and knows someone with a 2000 Silverado, so he has no basis for an INTELLIGENT opinion. As far as I know the Tundra is on or above the sales target Toyota picked out, 100,000 vehicles the first year. Head gaskets are not a problem. Toyota mistorqued some 3.4 head gaskets in the past but ran a campaign and replaced them all for FREE, VOLUNTARILY. Try to get a Big3 company to do that. As far as waiting to purchase a Tundra I did hear they were angling the back seat some more. As good as the Tundra is, I'm sure the 2001s will be even better. You might wait to see what goodies they put on the 2001, which would make a great truck even better!
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Are you getting desperate now! In the past you twisted the truth, now your flat out fabricating your own stories. Toyota replaced or repaired every headgasket problem regardless of miles. Try and get Chevy to replace your engine with 150K on it.
There has never been any headgasket problem with the V-8. They have been in service on the Landcruiser for years with an excellent record.
Sales for the Tundra where targeted for 100,000 the first year and they sold all they could produce. Lots of people waiting for that 2001 model to come out. Silverado owners will be singing them chevy blues in 2001 when their Silverado resale value plummets even further.
