no problem. Southern States VW of Durham, NC. I had called other dealers in the triangle area and they couldn't match the deal either. Good luck!

I have purchased 2 GTI"s on 08 and 09 from Chris Farnham at VW of Langhorne PA (near Philadelphia). He is the internet sales guy there and nobody can touch his price. CFarnham@VWofLanghorne.com. Tell him Bill D sent you (and no I don't get a fee for referring business). I have also bought a couple of TDI's from him Check his references over at tdiclub.com

You're very welcome, madmanmoo. While a 50% resid is nothing to write home about, I've seen ones that are a lot worse than that lately. Unfortunately, we've passed the glory days of leasing. There are still some good deals out there, I still lease both of my vehicles, but they are fewer and farther between than they used to be.

Car_man, could you please let me know what the MF and residuals are on the GTI this month? Also are there any incentives and dealer holdbacks available?

    Thank you.
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Here you go, amarin76. Volkswagen Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 GTI 4-door with 15,000 miles per year are .00092 and 45%, respectively. The money factor for an otherwise identical lease of an '09 GTI 2-Door is the same, but its residual value is 2% higher.

I don'[t believe that VW is currently providing any cash incentives on leases of the '09 GTI.

    Hello Car Man,

I was wondering if you had any updated lease rates on the 2009 GTI, as well as the lease rates on the 2010 GTI's and Golf's. Thanks in advance.

Looking to lease a 2010 GTI but not sure what the residual value is or if the deal I am being offered is solid. The dealer is telling what is listed below. I think $379 is decent for what options I want but not sure. I know when I looked in the past at a 2009 VW it was not the car of choice to lease due to the rapid deprecation of the vehicle. Would I be better off to lease a Mitsu Evo or a Subaru WRX?

. 2-Door Automatic with Autobahn and Dynaudio Options (MSRP $28,361)
36 month lease $2,000 out of pocket at lease signing
Miles per year allowance 10K 12K
    Monthly Payment $379 $387

    2. 4-Door Automatic with Autobahn and Dynaudio options (MSRP $28,961)
36 month lease $2000 out of pocket at lease signing
Miles per year Allowance 10K 12K
    Monthly Payment $396 $404

Hi Kyle. Here's the latest. You never mentioned how long you want to lease for or what mileage allowance you need, so I had to make some assumptions. Let me know if you want something different.

VW Credit's October buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 GTI 4 door with 15,000 miles per year are .00062 and 44%, respectively.

The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 2010 model are .00187 and 53%.

The numbers for a similar lease of a 2010 Golf 4 door are .00212 and 54$.

    Hello Car Man,

Thank you for the figures. Sorry about not providing more information initially. I've narrowed my search down to a 2010 GTI 2 door 6MT. The lease terms I'm looking for are for a 36 month, 12,000 mile/year lease.

Also, my wife currently owns a 2007 VW Jetta. Does VW still offer any type of Owner loyalty incentives? I also graduated within the past year - I know some companies offer College Grad discounts... does VW?

    Thank you for your help.

    Greetings all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. VW's sign then drive promo got me interested in leasing a GTI. No money down, no security deposit and first month's payment I understand - what additional fees will I need to anticipate? Will I need to pay taxes up front or with each payment? What gets taxed exactly?

The lease rate on a base GTI (MSRP on base is $23,290, I think, Invoice $21,724) is $369/mo. The MSRP for the configuration I want (2-door, MT, 18" Detroit, Dynaudio, Sunroof & Xenons) is $27,305, invoice is $25,358.

Could someone please tell me how much I should expect to pay on a lease for the above configuration, how taxes are calculated on leases and what other fees I need to consider.

    Thank you very much.

I live in Texas. I was quoted for sales price of 22631. Residual 52%. 39 months lease of 428/month. 428 due at signing (everything else is rolled in the payment calculation). Dealer not willing to disclose itemized costs. Is it a good deal, it seems to similar to the lease deal from VW.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
Lease program is not that great... At that sales price, you could add tax, and buy the car for $450-$460 per month for 60 months..

I wouldn't lease, if I could only save $30/mo... In TX, you pay sales tax on the full sales price, either way...

I'm shopping for a lease on a 4-door carbon gray with DSG, sunroof, 18" Detroit AS, and xenons. Can you provide the November money factor and residual value on a 36 month 4 door GTI lease with 12,000 miles?

In October, the residual values was pretty good at around 56%. But the money factor was unfavorable at 0.00212. As I understand, during the year, the residual values slowly decrease and the MF decrease as well. Is there a "best" time of year to lease a car when both the RV and MF are at favorable levels?

    Thanks

No problem Kyle, it happens all the time. Here's the latest info for you. VW Credit;s current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 GTI 2-Door with 12,000 miles per year are .00201 and 53%, respectively.

Volkswagen does provide loyalty cash on select models from time to time, but I am not aware of any on the '10 GTI at this time.

    Hi Car_man,

Can you please post the MF and Residual for 36 month lease with 10,000 & 12,000 miles a year for a 4-Door GTI?

You previously helped me get a great deal on an Infiniti EX35 (wife's) with the lease values and now it's time to shop for my sister.

Hey Erik. I'm glad that everything worked out well on the EX. Here's the latest info that you're looking for.

VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 GTI 4-Door with 12,000 miles per year are .00130 and 54%, respectively.

The residual value for an otherwise identical lease of this car (which I love BTW) with only 10,000 miles per year is 1% higher.

Car_Man: Does it matter what state that you live in? I live in Washington (Seattle area) and am thinking about leasing a 2010 4 door GTI, Xenons, DSG, and Autobahn pkg with 12,000 miles per year.

Will the buy rate lease money still be .00130 and the residual value be 54% in Jan./ Feb 2010?.

    Thanks for your help,

Just leased a 2 DR GTI here in NY (6sp manual). Here is my deal:

$27k MSRP (xenons, 18" detroits, sunroof, blue tooth, mat kit)
    39m
    12k/yr
$1300 total out of pocket (tax, title, fees, etc)
1st month paid (sign and drive)

    $372/m

was wondering if i could get the residual and mmf for a

    2010 GTI 2 dr with 6spd manual.

i was told it was 53% and .00099 when i went into the dealer, just wanted to make sure.
  • vip7vip7 Member Posts: 1
Using the money factor of .0013 and 54% depreciation, I am only getting a money factor payment of $42.

Am I calculating right? Assuming an MSRP of 24,000 and car price of $21,000:

(Car Price + Residual Value - Down Payment) * Money Factor

    ($21,000 + $12,960 -2000) * .0013 = $42

That seems low to me, because the total lease payment only comes out to be around $226.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
Your money factor calculation for your hypothetical deal is correct..

However, a more realistic hypothetical deal would be:

    $25,000 MSRP
    $23,500 Selling price
    ZERO Down Payment..

Run the numbers that way, and you'll probably come up with a more realistic monthly lease price... Somewhere around $325/mo.. which still might be too low.

Here is a deal a local dealer is offering me. Looking for opinions if I should jump on this or not.

2010 VW Automatic (DSG) GTI 4-Door Hatchback - Untied Gray Exterior
MSRP: $30,660 with options (Autobahn Pkg, 18" Detroit Alloys, Dynaudio sound, Bi-Xenon Headlamps and Blue Tooth Connectivity)
36 month lease with 10K miles per year allowance
Due at signing: $389 (License, title and doc. fees) - (For Sign and Then Drive VW Lease program, VW pays your first payment)
Monthly Lease Payment: $398 per month
  • clickclackerclickclacker Member Posts: 6
I was looking at the GTI with the same options and there is NO way I would pay that much. You can get a better deal. Start emailing all the dealers in your area and ask for the Best deal now. It is the end of the month = best time to buy, January is the worst month for car sales. You need to get invoice, that's what I was offered.
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Yes, m34lnch, the 2-Door and 4-Door programs are often different. Volkswagen Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 GTI 2-Door with 15,000 miles per year are .00099 and 51%, respectively.

Hi Clickclack. VW Credit's lease program does occasionally vary by region, however the GTI's current program is national. Its January buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a GTI (I'm jealous BTW, I love this car) 4-Door with 12,000 miles per year are .00103 and 54%, respectively.

Congratulations on getting your new GTI, 762x51. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm jealous I love this car. Alas with two little ones, a GTI is not in the cards...right now ;) .

Thanks for taking the time to share the details of your lease with everyone. I'm sure that other community members who are in the market for a similar car will find your price point helpful. Hi mannyman1. Here's the information that you're looking for. VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a GTI 2-Door with 12,000 miles per year are .00099 and 53%, respectively. This is right in line with what you were quoted, so it appears as though the dealer is being very straightforward with you.

I must be getting lost in the math. I emailed several dealers in my area and the deal that is current the contender is 339 a month but with 2k down. If the purchase price is $30610.00 MSRP (4DR, Autobahn, Dyn audio, AM Trans, 18, BT, Xenon) and dock fees are 389 here in Chicago. How the heck are they coming up with this? I'm looking to take delivery within the next 48 hours so any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys, i just got an offer from one of the dealer i email yesterday.
They said they have one white GTI just came in this morning.
    2010 GTI 4 Door Automatic / Pwr Moonroof / Bluetooth / Mat Kit / 18" Alloys
    * MSRP= $28,234
    * 36 months @ 10,000 miles per year
    * $488.14 due at signing
    * $394.98 per month (plus sales tax based on where vehicle is registered)

I know this is obviously not a good deal, could please anyone tell what monthly payment would be a good deal for me to get it. Thanks:]

    Hi all
Looks like rates improved for Feb. Both APRs and lease rates.
    I was quoted .00082 and 54% for a GTI 4 door with 12k miles. +1% for 10k miles.
These were right off the rate sheet so I hope these are the buy rates.

I was unable to find out the current incentives, but I'm working on that. Can anyone confirm these rates, and any dealer cash/incentives?

The car was equipped as follows:

    Carbon Gray 6 speed manual
    Sunroof
    Xenon
    Dynaudio
    18' Detroit
    Mats
    Ipod

    MSRP around $28.5k+/
Not sure if people are paying invoice or below, etc.

Love this car! Any help is appreciated!

I got the following February lease quote:

    Invoice: 27,824

    36 months/15k per year

    1,009.41 down (plus first month)

    1030.91 down (plus first month)
    399.41 plus tax a month

I've been going back & forth with local dealers (arghh) and found a 2010 GTI that i like but the dealer's lease calculations are different from mine:

car: MSRP $28,270, negotiated price $25,500

His lease: 36 mo., 12k miles, 54% RV and 0.00082 MF
    He's calculating $ 300/mo. with $3,250 down

    I'm calculating $ 311/mo. with just $1,000 down:

Net Lease Price $24,500.00 Capitalized Cost - Cap. Cost Reduction
Residual Value $15,265.80 MSRP * Residual
Depreciation Fee $256.51 (Net Lease Price - RV) / Lease Term
Lease Fee $32.61 (Net Lease Price + RV) * MF
Monthly Payment $311.66 (Depreciation Fee + Lease Fee) * (8% Tax)

    Who's wrong & who's right?

Hope this is enough info ... I'm just getting used to all this lease stuff :confuse:

    Thanks!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
Is his $3250 a downpayment? Or..the total amount due at signing?

Acquisition fees, 1st payment, etc, etc... Perhaps his amount is a "due at signing amount"?

He said $3250 down. I don't have his worksheet but i asked for it ... pretty sure it's downpyt. though ... even if it includes fees, it still wouldn't match up with mine. btw: is it generally better to include doc, acquisition fees, etc. in the lease or better to pay them up-front?

I like for my leases to reflect my actual monthly cost, as nearly as possible..

Last lease.. $244/mo... ZERO due at signing...

Wife's last lease... $467/mo... $581 due at signing..

Now, if you have to make a refundable security deposit.. that would be more..

back to my initial question though: can anybody tell me if my lease calculation looks correct? Why is there the big difference with the dealer?
