We're from Jacksonville, FL and had to go to Fort Myers to see somebody. We figured while we were down there we would stop by the FIVE lexus dealers that are on the way there and back home, since lexus of Jacksonville wouldn't budge from MSRP and LIED to us about the price on a IS250 w/ navi. They are incredibly rude, not even a greeting when we walked into the place. You could stand outside for five hours and no one would come up to you and ask if you needed help.

Well anyway, after running our errand in Fort Myers, it was only 9 am and we decided to stop by Scanlon Lexus of Fort Myers since it was only twenty minutes away. We wanted a black on black IS250 with navi, but they only had one with beige interior. So, we sat there and we were like well, you don't have what we want and if you order it, then we won't get as much of a good deal. SO they brought around an IS350 black on black. We were like okay, that's why we didn't want it because we didn't feel like the extra G's were worth the horsepower.

To make a long story short (and I hate it when people aren't clear on just what they got):
    IS350 (msrp 35440)
    -navi (msrp 2550)
    -premium plus package (msrp 1290)
-18 inch wheels w/ summer tires (msrp 720)
TOTAL MSRP 40,590 (delivery fee incl.)
We got it for $36,200 (not inc tax, etc) :)

My fiancee and I's first time buying a car and we're in our very early twenties. We will not only remember the experience because it was our first car purchase, but because this dealership is absolutely amazing. The salesman was absolutely delightful and the finance manager was very friendly and welcoming as well. ALso, they give you the most amazing box of chocolates (almost as awesome as the car) by Norman Love Confections. MMM!!

Which dealership has 8 IS 350s? Every dealer I spoke to told me they didn't have any on the lot.

Am in the process of neg. on an IS250 AWD in Smoky with Black Trim, calling up several dealers in the Met. NY area and came up with one car in stock at Rallye Lexus in Glen Cove.

Was quoted a final sale price of 35,550 for
    IS 250 AWD
    Navigation

    Dealer Added....
    Bodyside molding
    All season Mats
    Pinstriping
    Chrome sills
and 5000 and 10k services for free

My Q, is this a good deal or should I continue the pressure for a better deal.....

    A couple of questions:

    1) Has anyone tried CarsDirect and is there price good? I am looking to buy and priced a 2006 IS350 with Luxury Package, Navi/ML, Preferred Accessory Package, Parking Assist, and Rear Spoiler... MSRP of $45,284.. their price is $41,873. I spoke with the sales rep and he could get the car in Black exterior/Black interior within a day or so. Is this a good deal or would I do better to try a dealer? If so, any recommendations in the Los Angeles area?

    2) For people who are putting in special orders for 2007 vehicles, what deals are you able to negotiate? Is a deposit required, and if so, is it refundable?

    3) Has anyone test drove a sports package equipped IS350 and a luxury package equipped IS350. I couldn't find one with a sports package in my area to test drive. Is the handling that much stiffer on the sports package? What are the primary difference in ride feel?

    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi,

I just got my IS 350 w/ the Luxury Package, Navi/ML, Preferred Accessory Package, rear sun shade, rear lip spoiler, HID Headlamp(AFS), & 18" wheels for $40,688 in the Bay Area; the dealership originally quoted me $41,888.

I haven't driven the Sport Pkg before but heard that it will be a bit bumpy like a BMW ride quality. I myself prefer the more comfort ride because most freeways are pretty roughed up here in the Bay Area.

Which car would be the best for price, performance & overall quality? Thanks..
  • JBaumgartJBaumgart Member Posts: 890
    That's easy:

    Price - G35
    Performance - IS350
    Overall Quality - IS350

I am considering the two...IS250 and TSX.
Actually I've got quotes for the two.
IS250 with Navi and Premium Plus for $33800.
    TSX with Navi for $27300.
I understand there are some differences between the two - new and old, $6500 gap in prices...
Do you think IS250 is worth for the price against TSX?
    Thanks...

I work in the accounting office at a Lexus dealership and am somewhat familiar with upfronts. That is one expensive DOC fee! It is only $399 at our dealership. First payment is fine, cap cost reduction taxes are part of the upfront money, $600 acquisition fee is a standard fee charged by Lexus Financial that everyone pays but I do not remember paying it upfront in my deal. I believe they included it in the lease. "Lease Reserve" is not a term I am familiar with? Would that be the same as a Security Deposit? If so then yes it too would be part of your upfronts. I hope I was able to help.

Unfortunately I don't think a pre-owned IS250 is going to cost much less than a new one right now. It is still a very hot car and there are just not many pre-owned ones out there for sale. Probably by this time next year when the 08 are getting ready to come out the 06 will drop in price/value somewhat. Good luck in your search! ;)

hey ive had my IS250 for about 2 weeks now and ive driven 640 miles... i read in the manual that the car only needs to be warmed up for the first 621 miles but i thought i remember reading some buyers drivin conservatively for the first 1000 miles, what do you guys think? Also does anyone know a good place in orange county to get a good tint job I have heard Lumar is good but I dont know where is a good place to go, thanks in advance.

clublexus.com is a great source for most of your Lexus needs, it doesn't have as good of a financing/prices paid thread as this but it offers a LOT of owner feedback.

Went to Lexus of Westport in Connecticut. I delt with a salesman who is a family member of the owner.(married to the daughter or something like that - you will find him). I custom ordered an IS250AWD with (LD)Prem/Lux pkg,(ML)MLevinson WITHOUT Nav,(HW)Headlight Washer,(LM) Trunk Mat,(GN) Cargo Net

Invoice Price + 800 including Destination Charge. Paid 34,230

Here is the breakdown: 30,168 Base AWD
    1,764 Lux Pkg
    752 ML (w/o nav)
    80 HW
    41 LM
    35 GN
    590 Destination
    PLUS 800 Dealer Mark up
Out the door $34,230 plus Tax

Silver w/ Black interior. I hope to someday soon add Sirius to the car. I want the Lexus SAT Radio but nobody seem to know anything about Sirius. The order went to Lexus June 20. I don't think the car will come in as an '07, I hope I am wrong. I'm a little upset that the car may not arrive until the end of August or even early September and it will probably be an '06. I hear that the '07's will have a "shark fin" antenna for Sat Radio (and Nav). Does anyone have any words of wisdom about the Sirius situation? (no pun intended)

Looks like you can't buy an IS250 in CA at any price with the Luxury Package, which includes HID. I was trying some zip codes at lexus.com. You can get one in Oregon but you have to buy it as a part of a $6-7k package including Nav and Mark Levinson, I believe, bringing a price around $40k.

Of course around that price, you might as well pay a bit more and get an IS350.

Looks like you might have a chance to get an ES350 for around the same price with a lot of options. OK, it probably handles poorly but you don't have to worry about an underpowered engine for a $40k car, which would be the case with the IS250 loaded with options.

Maybe Lexus will be more flexible about options for the 2007 model year. How can they cede HIDs to the 325i? The other thing is, with the reported engine upgrades for the BMW 3-series, the IS would appear to have the HP advantage the IS350 briefly enjoyed. The IS250 would be left further behind by the rumored 2007 328i sedan.

So Lexus may bump up the HP (as they've done in the past, coming up with a new model designation) and replace the IS250 with a IS270 or IS300. That would make the 2006 IS 250 an even worse deal.
  • cklho818cklho818 Member Posts: 29
Lexus already has an IS 300 for the Asia region. I checked the Lexus China website and they offer the IS 300 with the following engine output:

    V6 DOHC24-Valve with Dual VVT-i
    Displacement: 2995cc
    Maximum Output (kW/rpm) 170 @ 6,200
    Maximum Torque (Nm/rpm) 300 @ 4,400

    the conversion to horsepower:

    1 hp = 33,000 ft·lbf·min−1 = exactly 0.74569987158227022 kW

That would equates to approx. 227 horsepower

I have a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t cabriolet (52,500 miles, sport, premium packages) that I am considering to trade in on a Lexus IS 250. The dealership offored Invoice + $500 ($32,791 - IS250, 18" wheels, premium, Nav). Offered $20,500 for my car. I am sure I can get $21,000 for it if it is a take it or leave it opinion. Does this seem good?

I have to decide if want to have a convertible out of warranty or a sedan with all the toys.

    Thanks. Jeff

If it is an Audi R8 then keep it. I would trade A4 for IS250.
  • ronnietoysronnietoys Member Posts: 7
Take the offer and run!! Just remember you indicate that the IS250 you are considering is not AWD. I would not get a car without AWD again after owning an Audi Quattro. I just took a deposit to sell my '03 A4 3.0 Quattro with Tiptronic and 65,200 miles for $18,900. Can't wait for the IS250 to arrive. Audi is a great car to lease only. Never buy one. Also, treat the Audi service department guys very well. You will be seeing plenty of them for the next few years. Lexus just goes and goes without fanfare or problems. My order went in to Lexus on June 20th and I hope to see it before the end of August.

The IS is not AWD. My current car is not and I live in South Florida - not much snow here.

I have an appointment to look at IS250's at Putnam this Friday. I am going through the Costco program. Supposedly there is a set price for Costco purchasers so no haggling. If I want to lease, will the lease terms be negotiable or not since I am purchasing through Costco?
  • shay21shay21 Member Posts: 3
I am in south florida as well, which dealership did u get that quote from?
  • wco81wco81 Member Posts: 594
In all my exchanges with the Putnam guy, my impression was that Costco prices didn't matter for a "hot" car.

That said, my folks bought a ES330 from them over a year ago and they said Costco was the lowest price.

But my father got an even lower price. :D
  • jzalkinjzalkin Member Posts: 56
It is JM Lexus (Coral Springs area)
  • jzalkinjzalkin Member Posts: 56
Well, my mind won out. I sealed the deal with the 500 over invoice + $21,000 for my trade + free tinting. Kelly and Edmunds (by about $1500) over estimated my trade. With the car out of warranty, the car took a hit. A friend works at a dealership and had his used car guy look up my trade on the auction list. $21,000 was a fair price he said and that would be about the most he would go if it was his dealership.

I figured that the first time I had a repair on the Audi I would have wished I got rid of it. It is not like it was paid off. I will miss the convertible, but will enjoy the new electronic toys.

As an aside, my first round of discusions was the worst experience I have ever had. The saleman was nice, but a slick sales manager came over and played games. He tried to get me to lease 3 times (stated I wanted to finance over and over). He tried to convince me the money factor was the same as an interest rate. He then started to play price games - offered me $24k for my car, but MSRP for his. Finally, he came up with a payment where he knew I would want to be at (told him I had to be under what I was in now). He said we had a deal since he had "hit a desired payment". He balked when I asked for the term details (trade, rate, length, sale price), saying that I had "honor my end of the bargain." I got pissed and walked out. As I was leaving he said his buyer was reducing the price of my trade $300 from $20,500. The next day (Wed) I got a call from my salesman and the guy's boss apoligizing about him without me mentioning why I left. I told them I would contact them when I know what I wanted to do. I called today and got the extra $500 on my trade plus the tint. I know the tint doesn't cst them much, but it saves me the $100+ and time. When I stopped by to sign some stuff, they kissed my rear pretty hard. I wasn't going to let one @#$hole rune a decent deal.

That is my story. Thanks for you responses and I am glad to be new IS250 Black/Cashmire owner.

I live in socal and am close to buying a IS250, and wondering about your deal. You said you got a "spoiler"--what kind? I didn't know they were offering that in our area. Also, I'm assuming the $33K was before tax and license, etc--is that the case? Finally, was it $33,000 even, or somewhere upwards of that?

Just purchased a cystal white IS 350 from Lexus of Norwood. I had visited Watertown, Northborough and sent emails to others in MA area. Norwood had the most vehicles in stock and met my best price from other dealers. They where all on par with each other in terms of a time spent negotiating themselves a higher profit. Norwood was the most responsive and honest of the dealers and now that I have purchased the vehicle their after sales follow-up (reg., inspection, walking me through how to program bluetooth phone, etc.) has been great. I would reccomend Norwood if looking to buy an IS in MA.

    IS 350
    Headlamp Washers
    Luxury Package (w/18" wheels)
    Nav
    Intuitive Parking Assist
    Preferred Acc
    Rear Lip Spoiler
    MSRP w/dest = 43,944

Paid 39,500 (including trade of 1999 chevy malibu w/133k, body damage and rust; kelly BB was $1000)

    Paid $39,500
    Doc Fee $198
    reg, title & inspect $94
    tax(5% MA) $1975
    Total Paid $41,767

iam wondering the price that someone might have paid for a basic 2007 is 250 model 6 speed standard....i mean with no package or extras.....i think i can without alot of the extras, i just think the car alone is shaped great and built steady.....would be great to know how much you got your deal for on this type
  • swc1swc1 Member Posts: 12
Putnam offered me dealer cost plus $1,000 on Friday through the Costco program. They said the Costco price would have been $1,400 over dealer cost, but since it was end of month they would go for $1,000 over. I think this worked out to be $31,023 before T&L for a 2006 IS 250 with premium package plus 18" wheels, cargo net, and mats (supposedly this is the standard package around here). The only problem was they didn't have tungsten on black and they said it would be hard to find one, so I might wait for the 2007's.

Just wanted to reply to this message based on my recent experience at a North Carolina Lexus dealership:

Had a trade-in (Accord Coupe 03 EX V6) with a net negative trade-in (i.e. value minus payoff) of $660. Was in negotiations for a Basic IS 250 RWD automatic(no other options other than the 18" summer tires). Salesguy I was negotiating with for almost three weeks started offering me OTD price of $33200 for a Blue Metallic colored one with Preferred package options installed and he would not budge (this was sometime around middle of July '06). I shift gears and instead ask for a Basic IS 250 auto RWD
and he offers OTD price for a Silver colored one for $32,000 and I am asking for $30,000. He calls me a week later to confirm if I will bite but I am not budging.

Incidentally, emailed same dealer's Internet manager looking for a Basic IS 350 last week. He offers a Blue Onyx (with no options) for $32,000 plus tax/tags/license (I live in Virginia) but he has yet to appraise my trade-in though. This was sometime last Thursday (July 27). I have not called him back since then after I tried to haggle $500 off his car's price (he wouldn't budge).

In any case, I'm still here enjoying my Coupe hehehe. Will wait for demand to come down on price still.......patience is a virtue of course.

PS: No high-pressure tactics done on my salesguy experience in the dealership...he did bring in a closer followed by a manager (both discussions lasted only around 5 minutes tops, tone of conversation was fine)

To the best of my knowledge the factory retools for the new model in late july - early August. '07's should start to roll out of the factory in late August for arrival in a USA port by mid-Sept

Test drove a base AWD IS250 w/o options today. Mentioned the Golden Opportunity Sales to the dealer and was offered 2,500 off MSRP? Is this a good deal? Will the December to Remember sales better than this? Thanks!
  • cincyracegirlcincyracegirl Member Posts: 8
I absolutely hate the car buying process with sales people, so the $500 probably wouldn't be worth it to me.

I have to decide if want to have a convertible out of warranty or a sedan with all the toys.

It sounds like the IS is a winner. It is FAR MORE than just a sedan.

I just signed the papers for an IS250 RWD last night at Magnussen's in Fremont (bay area). Premium package, nav, tungsten pearl on black leather for $33,300 before taxes. Trade in of 7K and 60 months APR 5.89%. I consider my deal only slightly better than average.

I am looking to buy a IS250 and so far the cheapest I have seen from the local dealers is 33,500.00 with nav on a 2006. Costco sent me to the San Jose dealer and I thought maybe redwood city might have a better deal?

Also, is it worth ordering a 2007? I have no problem waiting, since I have another car at home I can use till it comes in? I am looking at a Grey IS250 with Nav, Auto trans rear wheel drive, even thought he AWD sounds better ;)

    Thanks, Dil
  • wco81wco81 Member Posts: 594
Only advantage in ordering a 2007 might be that you might be able to get certain options like HID, which you can't get at all for the IS250 in CA.

Or at least, dealers around here don't want to custom order it. Carsdirect lists the option and I think Edmunds may as well. But Lexus shows the Luxury Package which is the only way to get HID as unavailable for the IS250. In other states, you can only get the Luxury Package with NAV and ML and it comes out to $6k or $7k.

If they're smart, they will make it an a la carte option and put it on most of the cars they ship to dealers.

I'm not sure which thread would be best to post this, so I've posted this in the lease thread as well. Sorry for the duplicate.

I'm in the market for the IS 250 AWD, with Nav & Luxury Package. The quote I have from a dealership here for a 48mths/15,000mile lease is:
    MSRP: $39,824
    Sale price: $36,998
    Residual Value: 46% $18,318
    Money Factor: .00285
$570.69/month before taxes. (With my own calculation it should've come up to $546.79/month)

Has anyone out there made a recent lease transaction in colorado? I'm relocating to redmond/seattle area in washington, so if anyone from Colorado or Washington State had just recently leased the IS250 AWD, with Nav & Luxury, could you please share what offer you got?

My relocation includes the shipping of my car so I could purchase from either Colorado or Washington.

Thanks in advance for any help! I've been following this forum for a few weeks and I've learned a lot.....

$39,824 seems like a strange number for an MSRP... Usually they end in increments of $5..

Are you adding on the cost of accessories, or something else? Possibly, there is something added in there that isn't residualized. Did they give you that residual dollar amount, or are you extrapolating it from the residual percentage quoted?

Another possibility is they are adding the acquisition fee on to the selling price, resulting in a higher CAP cost.

Otherwise, your calculations seem to be correct.. I come up with $546.xx also...

Ok thanks kyfdx! The only accessory I requested is the all weather mats so I think you're right, it's probably the acquisition fee. Based on what you've heard, do you think it's a pretty good deal or is there a chance for me to still get a better offer?

And I guess I will open up my question, I would like to know about anyone (from any state) that just recently leased the is250AWD with luxury and navi?, hopefully I would be able to compare my offer.

Started negotiating with the internet/fleet people from about 12 different dealerships in Southern California. Originally wanted a Breakwater Blue (ie. silver-blue metallic) with Luxury, Nav, ML, Chrome 18's, tint and LoJack. Best price I could get on a 36/12 lease was $1k down and $658 per month. Most dealers didn't even have that color with those options. I went to the dealership to sign, and saw an IS 350 on the showroom floor that blew me away. I eventually made a deal for it, but from a different dealer :P. Here is the deal

    IS 350 Smokey Granite
    Sport package
    Nav
    ML
    Spoiler
    Black Kit (badges)
    G-Spyder 18's
    LoJack
    Window Tinting

    36 month lease - 12k miles
    $1800 down <--- includes 1st payment
    $649 month

    MSRP - @ $48000
    OTD - @ $41500

    I am happy
