Probably not the lowest price to be found, but $4,271.00 less than MSRP ain't too bad right?
Cheers.
Premium Package, Nav, 18" wheels, accessory pack.
Price Paid $34475, purchase, not lease.
They beat the price of other dealers by over $2000.

I am looking to get a similar build in about 2 months
Depending on the region, you should be able to get just about any IS250 configuration for around $750.00 over invoice...if not less. And IS250 RWD's probably under invoice. 2007 is winding down, the 08's will be here within 3-4 months. Good time to buy 07's.
Using Edmnunds TMV pricing, leaseguide.com, roadfly forums, and these forums is absolutely invaluable. The more informed you are, the better.
Thanks and regards. This forum has really helped me out!
I did this in NJ,CT,NY area and had 2 dealers come back willing to deal. HTH.
Just wanted to know if anyone has recently purchased a base IS350, and what the true OTD price was, thanks!
Is this a good deal? Can I do better? If so, how much. I'm in Iowa.
Any advice?
This is a major factor in the purchase of a car and caring for your new toy. Did you factor in those added costs, which higher than their competition? It's about an extra approx $400 per 5k service and an extra $600 for brakes every 15k miles. This is in addition to your finance payment. (based on BMW for comparison). $1800 additional cost if you drive 15k a year.
Just tring to help you understand the true cost and make a decision you are happy with.
I will be happy to fax a service price list to you if you would like.
The IS250 AWD with NAV for $39,171 MSRP is the same exact package I bought. Smokey Granite. I paid $34,900 + TTL. You can do better than 36K + TTL.
"The Deal" does not stop at the MSRP alone. If you go to Best Buy and buy a computer for $100 it does you no good if it has a mother board that doesn't work. The price you paid is irrelevant.
Some people in this forum are bashing me by labeling me a basher when I am only trying to help you by letting people now, as a current owner, the true cost of the car MSRP + high mainanenance. Just because someone wants to only hear good things, does not mean that it is honest to attack the person bearing bad news. I don't have to spend my time in these forums, but I want to help buyers understand the true cost and not be misslead by the dealer and the auto maker like I was. I am not trying to bash Lexus because of my deal. I am trying to get the truth out about their true selling tactics.
Your dealer might not be telling you the truth on the $100. When I bought my car, they told me that maintenance was free for the first 50K, the truth was that the first 5k was free. If you could really trust what dealers are telling you, why have you not already paid the price they presented to you. The truth is that you are finding out in this forum that the price they offered is too high and people like kingthumper have posted lower prices that you should be paying.
I am not here to pressure you in a direction, understand that you asked this forum on the cost of the whole package and the maintenance forum on the true cost of the up keep, but you seem to not want to believe what you want to hear about any bad news.
I have uploaded the price list. the only thing that changes was the brakes from $400 to $600 and keep in mind that is every 15k and not the usual 60k.
You can do with this information what you want. Your purchace is your choice. I too, fell in love with the look and style of the new IS250. It does drive great, I am just making the point that there is a hidden premium for the ownership of this car. If you are willing to pay for it, and you never challenge/question Lexus, but just pay when they tell you a price, you will be very much happy. I am not that type of person though.
Good luck in your decision and I hop you find the car that best fits your needs.
how do you like the car so far?
Also, what would be a good price before TTL for one without Navi
Thanks
I'm in Connecticut. And you? I love it man. It took 4 months before I finally chose the IS250 AWD. I'm very happy with my decision. Have you test drove it? If you live in an area with harsh winters, AWD is the way to go on any car these days. Doesn't keep you from sliding on ice, but maneuverability in 20+ inches of snow is remarkable.
Pricing, costs, & good deals:
Have you determined a firm price-point on a new vehicle or cost horizon? Another thing to consider is insurance, are you over 25? I have a very rational approach to purchasing new cars, I have a post from another forum regarding my philosophy. If your curious, I'll post it here.
The pricing of IS250 AWD will be a little skewed depending on your location. Regional pricing (sell price) and demand. The eastcoast has a high demand but also high availability for AWD's. I can give you a better idea based on where you live.
A good selling price is subjective really, depends on a persons POV. The best price for me isn't necessarily the lowest price. The experience at the dealership and how well I believe they will take care of me during my ownership is a big part of it. Again, thats just me.
My IS had an MSRP of $39,171.00 The agreed upon selling price was $34,900.00 + TTL. I did not get approved for the Tier1 + lease terms (lower mf), so my money factor was .00205 rather than .00195. Security deposit was waved and I put down a small cap cost reduction (by choice and was optional) only to sweeten my monthly payment when I pay my bills. My payment is $431.27/mo including 6% CT sales tax.
The invoice of the vehicle was $34,111.00, so I paid about $800.00 over invoice and $4,271.00 under MSRP. The dealership was responsive and willing to work with me. After many test drives (about 9), and some were longer than hour, I wanted the car. Their initial offer to me was $36,500.00 + TTL. I emailed them the next day asking for $34,900.00. Got a phone call 10 minutes later and they said deal! I had to wait 3 days to get the color I wanted but that was it. Painless. No haggling for pennies. It was great experience.
That being said, I think I got a great deal. Was it the lowest possible, probably not. But I appreciated their level of service and approach. All things being equal, any offer between $500 - $1000 over invoice for an IS250 AWD equipped like mine is a decent deal.
HTH.
Thanks so much for the info.
I am in the Midwest region, specifically Des Moines, IA. I know dealers on the East/West coast are very willing to deal. But in the Midwest, it is difficult cause every dealership is a few hours away.
I've been getting quotes from dealers about 3-4 hours drive away and they are priced pretty much the same range. I told them about people getting a a model with navi for $35k and they told me they believe it, but it is only happening on the coast. In the Midwest, it is just not happening. The dealership at my city ran out of the IS250.
I thought about buying it from somehwre like Boston but with the shipping and hassle, I don't think it's worth the $2k, plus if anything goes wrong, they are out there and I am in the Midwest.
The dealer at my city is giving me the best offer so far (to keep me in town). I am getting the IS250 AWD without Navi (I figure navi is too much to pay, it seems cool but I barely use it) for $32,746 + TTL
So I am paying:
Price $32,746.00
Tax (32,746-$10,500)*0.05 $ 1,112.30
Doc Fee $ 175.00
Total $34,033.33
They offer me $33,212 at first...I haggle for the extra 500 off......I will try to get it for $34,000.
I don't include Title and Licensing cause that is something we pay annually, so i dont see that as a cost to the car, which you might think is silly.
Insurance: I have checked Progressive and it is:
$92/month
100/300/100 Liability
100/300 Uninsured
1000 Deductible for both Collision & Comprehensive
I am 24 soon.
let me know what you think.
Does Lexus's smart key work the same? I thought it has a sensor on the handle that unlocks the door once you grip the handle (automatically, without pressing a button)
does anyone know?
(Door) To lock have key near and press button on handle. To unlock, have key near and touch inside metal part of handle. The door wont lock if the key is inside. It also has a valet when you remove the metal standard key from the fob.
(Engine) to start car, have key inside car and press button while holding brake down. To turn off put in park and press button. To turn on power (but not start engine) do same minus brake. A light on button shows what will happen via color. Green will start, orange will turn on power.
Did you get the So Cal price sheet? Get the maintenace prices from your dealer (IA) in writing before you buy. Including brake service and tires. Make sure they don't lie to you. I am not the only one I have found that several Lexus dealers have mislead. I am here to help consumers not get the shaft like I and the others I've spoken to got raw deals.
Make them put the everything for the next 100k including prices in writing. I know that it may seem that I am going on about it, but the VP of Opers for the Western region lied in front of me to NCDS (the dispute arbit.) that to me was jolting.
Please be careful.
i've seen the maintenance guide on Edmunds and nothing is like what u said. So, I dont understand why you get charge few hundred bucks for maintenance service each time.
UPDATE: I called to ask about 5000 miles service, which is Oil change...and tire rotation....$85
Each dealer (not only Lexus) usually recommends their own items (sometimes very pushy too), in addition to the items on the mfg maintenance schedule. You are not required to follow the dealers schedule, only the mfg one to adhere to warranty.
You can always do your scheduled maintenance a-la-carte to get the exact items prescribed by the mfg schedule. If that dealer won't do it, then take your business elsewhere.
I think what dontbuylexus has encountered is a dealer that strongly pushes their own maintenance schedule, and a very pricey one at that.
-Brian
I've asked a few dealers about maintenance and they tell me it's somewhere in the $100 for maintenance. Only major ones cause maybe few hundred bucks which is pretty much the 30k miles.
I've tried considering an Acura TL, and it might be slighty cheaper than the lexus, but somehow I just don't like the TL. I've seen other cars and I still like the Lexus better.
I been quoted $32,746 + TTL so far and that's the best I can get in the Midwest region. It's an IS250 AWD without Navi.
I'm waiting to see what info comes out on the '08's. Personally, I'll probably go with a 250 automatic RWD w/ the luxury pkg and get snow tires.
-Brian
My friend's bf have a BMW 3 series (RWD) and they live in CT. My friend told me that it was like a fish in the water when they drove the car.
The 2008's info are out. The different is mainly:
a) adding a coin box
b) illuminated scuff plate
c) backlighting for the power mirror control
The price os the IS250's went up by 200...except AWD down by 200.
Right now, my IS250 AWD is offered $3,000 below MSRP. I am tempted to wait for 2-3 months for the 2008 but at the same time I don't think they will give me that amount off MSRP.
Also, by then, my current car wont be worth as much to trade.
Any advice/comments?
Thanks for the '08 info.
Popularity of the IS seems to be increasing, so prices may not get much better. Not sure how many '07's are left on the lots either. Seems that if you can find the one that you want, you should grab it.
-Brian
Dealer quotes invoice is 33354.I can sell car for 32500 plus tax.
If anyone wishes to discuss ongoing maintenance costs please see the new discussion we have created for this at Lexus IS 250 350 Maintenance Costs
Thanks for helping keeping things on topic!
Thank you

Second, can you good folks tell me if this is a good deal?
I was offered $37,500 + TTL (w/ no additional dealer/doc fees) for a 2007 IS 350 w/ Navigation/Premium Package in Obsidian.
Thanks.
I am thinking of buying the IS 250 RWD w/ auto transmisson + Luxury Package. I live in the SF Bay Area and was wondering if anyone made a recent purchase here. If yes, what kind of price you are getting & which dealer?
Also, the Nav and ML stereo package cost $3990. This is about $500 more than separate pricing is Nav $2550, ML $940, Why the difference?
Thanks, Vidur
