I got a great deal at Newport Lexus. They wont quote you under invoice but they will sell you the car for about $800 under invoice as long as it's in stock. I've already sent two customers there. You have to make an appointment to deal with the Internet Manager Morgan though, and ask for his assistant I believe her name is Heather. Good Luck.

For you folks in Georgia, we picked up an 07 IS250 RWD today in Breakwater Blue.
Premium Package, Nav, 18" wheels, accessory pack.
Price Paid $34475, purchase, not lease.

They beat the price of other dealers by over $2000.

is that OTD price? which state are you in?

I am looking to get a similar build in about 2 months
  • phimmyphimmy Member Posts: 2
i was just quoted $32,700 for an is250 rwd +nav. they say it's around 500 below invoice. any good?
  • kingthumperkingthumper Member Posts: 8
I'm in Connecticut. $34,900.00 was the selling price. OTD price was that plus about $1,600 for TTL,Bank Fee,Doc Fee. I put a little down just to keep my payment more attractive when paying bills.

Depending on the region, you should be able to get just about any IS250 configuration for around $750.00 over invoice...if not less. And IS250 RWD's probably under invoice. 2007 is winding down, the 08's will be here within 3-4 months. Good time to buy 07's.

Using Edmnunds TMV pricing, leaseguide.com, roadfly forums, and these forums is absolutely invaluable. The more informed you are, the better.

can i ask at what dealership and whom you dealt with. i am in the bay area looking for the same package...
  • phimmyphimmy Member Posts: 2
this was the dealership in redwood city. in any case i ended up getting my is250 + nav from newport beach. i'm hoping i got a good deal. came with nav (and rear cam), 18" summer wheels, hid's, +premium pkg, and premium accy pkg. msrp 37,841, got it for 32,400. around 35,400 otd. even with the cost of the plane ticket from nor cal to socal think i got a good deal. i hope no one proves me wrong.
  • kingthumperkingthumper Member Posts: 8
Well, $5400 under MSRP seems pretty good to me. You probably paid just over invoice for the car.
  • dabusinessdabusiness Member Posts: 4
Can someone give me an idea of what would be an acceptable price in the northern Chicago burbs for an IS250 AWD with luxury and navigation packages (MSRP $40,051/Invoice $35,865)? I can't seem to find better than $1k over invoice, yet I read all these posts from SoCal of people paying @ invoice or less. If you've found better, please let me know where.

Thanks and regards. This forum has really helped me out!

Configure your car here on edmunds and shoot out an email to all the dealers within a given radius of which your willing to travel to pick up the car. Include in the email the specs, terms of lease/purchase you want, and price your willing to pay. From what your saying, $36,865 is the lowest you've been offered...you can beat this, especially if the car is on the lot. Try $35.5k and see if any dealers bite.

I did this in NJ,CT,NY area and had 2 dealers come back willing to deal. HTH.
  • lexustexaslexustexas Member Posts: 1
Did the entire deal over the internet and email. Couldn't have been easier, a total of maybe 2 hours on 2 different days at the dealership. No pressures, no hassles. 10 minutes in the finance office. Worked out a deal for invoice +500 (they won't deal quite as much in Dallas, I tried a few dealerships). For that price, they also through in free window tinting, 2 free chrome license plate frames, touch up paint. They installed the illuminated scuff plates and sport pedals for free (something I really didn't want to do). I liked the X package, but it doesn't come in white so they gave me the front lip, sport pedals, scuff plates, trunk tray at about half price and only charged a total of $90 to install them all (charged for the front lip). I figure with all the freebies they threw in, I got it for about invoice. Yeah, I know there are better deals out there, but what's it worth to actually enjoy a car buying experience? Love the illuminated scuff plates at night. The 250 seems to have plenty of power, no problems merging onto the interstates at all. She's one sweet ride and I'm happy with the deal.

I am thinking of getting the IS250 AWD with Navi...what would be a good OTD price to pay? So I will know where to target when I go into the dealership. Please help!!
  • blnewtoblnewto Member Posts: 146
Is it reasonable to expect a base IS350(MSRP aprox 35.7k)to be OTD for 34k? I noticed on the official Lexus website that the commonly optioned vehicle for my area has an MSRP of aprox 39k. Lord knows why Toyota & Lexus have to make their "Build your own" sections so complicated by adding these mandatory "options", rather than letting you selecet exactly what you want :(
Just wanted to know if anyone has recently purchased a base IS350, and what the true OTD price was, thanks!
  • mo0chiemo0chie Member Posts: 1
I purchased my IS250 RWD manual with Premium, X-package, HID, accessories package, and rear spoiler for $32461 OTD. I did a lot of research on the web and at edmund's and the invoice was $30222. Could I have gotten a better deal if I had waited? The reason I jumped was because it was hard to find that config in my area without AWD and without navigation.

I am looking to purchase a basic IS 250 in the Houston market. Edmunds said that the premium plus package was common, so possibly with this addition (invoice 1,032). I was hoping to get some prices of what others in the Houston market paid and which dealerships would be more likely to deal! THANKS!

I've been offered the IS250 AWD without Navi for $32,746 + TTL ($3k off MSRP).....and IS250 AWD with Navi for $36,000 + TTL ($3171 off MSRP)

Is this a good deal? Can I do better? If so, how much. I'm in Iowa.

    Any advice?
  • dontbuylexusdontbuylexus Member Posts: 41
I remember you were worried about the maintinance costs in a different forum.

This is a major factor in the purchase of a car and caring for your new toy. Did you factor in those added costs, which higher than their competition? It's about an extra approx $400 per 5k service and an extra $600 for brakes every 15k miles. This is in addition to your finance payment. (based on BMW for comparison). $1800 additional cost if you drive 15k a year.

Just tring to help you understand the true cost and make a decision you are happy with.

I will be happy to fax a service price list to you if you would like.
  • kingthumperkingthumper Member Posts: 8
    @kcleuk

The IS250 AWD with NAV for $39,171 MSRP is the same exact package I bought. Smokey Granite. I paid $34,900 + TTL. You can do better than 36K + TTL.

    Kcleuk,

"The Deal" does not stop at the MSRP alone. If you go to Best Buy and buy a computer for $100 it does you no good if it has a mother board that doesn't work. The price you paid is irrelevant.

Some people in this forum are bashing me by labeling me a basher when I am only trying to help you by letting people now, as a current owner, the true cost of the car MSRP + high mainanenance. Just because someone wants to only hear good things, does not mean that it is honest to attack the person bearing bad news. I don't have to spend my time in these forums, but I want to help buyers understand the true cost and not be misslead by the dealer and the auto maker like I was. I am not trying to bash Lexus because of my deal. I am trying to get the truth out about their true selling tactics.

Your dealer might not be telling you the truth on the $100. When I bought my car, they told me that maintenance was free for the first 50K, the truth was that the first 5k was free. If you could really trust what dealers are telling you, why have you not already paid the price they presented to you. The truth is that you are finding out in this forum that the price they offered is too high and people like kingthumper have posted lower prices that you should be paying.

I am not here to pressure you in a direction, understand that you asked this forum on the cost of the whole package and the maintenance forum on the true cost of the up keep, but you seem to not want to believe what you want to hear about any bad news.

I have uploaded the price list. the only thing that changes was the brakes from $400 to $600 and keep in mind that is every 15k and not the usual 60k.

You can do with this information what you want. Your purchace is your choice. I too, fell in love with the look and style of the new IS250. It does drive great, I am just making the point that there is a hidden premium for the ownership of this car. If you are willing to pay for it, and you never challenge/question Lexus, but just pay when they tell you a price, you will be very much happy. I am not that type of person though.

Good luck in your decision and I hop you find the car that best fits your needs.
  • kcleukkcleuk Member Posts: 45
    where are you located?

how do you like the car so far?

Also, what would be a good price before TTL for one without Navi

    Thanks
  • kingthumperkingthumper Member Posts: 8
    @kcleuk

I'm in Connecticut. And you? I love it man. It took 4 months before I finally chose the IS250 AWD. I'm very happy with my decision. Have you test drove it? If you live in an area with harsh winters, AWD is the way to go on any car these days. Doesn't keep you from sliding on ice, but maneuverability in 20+ inches of snow is remarkable.

    Pricing, costs, & good deals:
Have you determined a firm price-point on a new vehicle or cost horizon? Another thing to consider is insurance, are you over 25? I have a very rational approach to purchasing new cars, I have a post from another forum regarding my philosophy. If your curious, I'll post it here.

The pricing of IS250 AWD will be a little skewed depending on your location. Regional pricing (sell price) and demand. The eastcoast has a high demand but also high availability for AWD's. I can give you a better idea based on where you live.

A good selling price is subjective really, depends on a persons POV. The best price for me isn't necessarily the lowest price. The experience at the dealership and how well I believe they will take care of me during my ownership is a big part of it. Again, thats just me.

My IS had an MSRP of $39,171.00 The agreed upon selling price was $34,900.00 + TTL. I did not get approved for the Tier1 + lease terms (lower mf), so my money factor was .00205 rather than .00195. Security deposit was waved and I put down a small cap cost reduction (by choice and was optional) only to sweeten my monthly payment when I pay my bills. My payment is $431.27/mo including 6% CT sales tax.

The invoice of the vehicle was $34,111.00, so I paid about $800.00 over invoice and $4,271.00 under MSRP. The dealership was responsive and willing to work with me. After many test drives (about 9), and some were longer than hour, I wanted the car. Their initial offer to me was $36,500.00 + TTL. I emailed them the next day asking for $34,900.00. Got a phone call 10 minutes later and they said deal! I had to wait 3 days to get the color I wanted but that was it. Painless. No haggling for pennies. It was great experience.

That being said, I think I got a great deal. Was it the lowest possible, probably not. But I appreciated their level of service and approach. All things being equal, any offer between $500 - $1000 over invoice for an IS250 AWD equipped like mine is a decent deal.

    HTH.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for the info.

I am in the Midwest region, specifically Des Moines, IA. I know dealers on the East/West coast are very willing to deal. But in the Midwest, it is difficult cause every dealership is a few hours away.

I've been getting quotes from dealers about 3-4 hours drive away and they are priced pretty much the same range. I told them about people getting a a model with navi for $35k and they told me they believe it, but it is only happening on the coast. In the Midwest, it is just not happening. The dealership at my city ran out of the IS250.

I thought about buying it from somehwre like Boston but with the shipping and hassle, I don't think it's worth the $2k, plus if anything goes wrong, they are out there and I am in the Midwest.

The dealer at my city is giving me the best offer so far (to keep me in town). I am getting the IS250 AWD without Navi (I figure navi is too much to pay, it seems cool but I barely use it) for $32,746 + TTL

    So I am paying:

    Price $32,746.00
    Tax (32,746-$10,500)*0.05 $ 1,112.30
    Doc Fee $ 175.00
    Total $34,033.33

They offer me $33,212 at first...I haggle for the extra 500 off......I will try to get it for $34,000.

I don't include Title and Licensing cause that is something we pay annually, so i dont see that as a cost to the car, which you might think is silly.

Insurance: I have checked Progressive and it is:

    $92/month

    100/300/100 Liability
    100/300 Uninsured
1000 Deductible for both Collision & Comprehensive

    I am 24 soon.

let me know what you think.
  • shhgrrshhgrr Member Posts: 1
I was at Westside Lexus today in Houston looking at the IS 250. They did have an IS without the PT package. :)
  • kcleukkcleuk Member Posts: 45
I have a question...I've seen other cars like Nissan and Infiniti promoting their Intelligent key...but even though you don't need to take the key out of your pocket, you still have to press the black button on the handle to unlock the door.

Does Lexus's smart key work the same? I thought it has a sensor on the handle that unlocks the door once you grip the handle (automatically, without pressing a button)

    does anyone know?
  • dontbuylexusdontbuylexus Member Posts: 41
Yes this part of the car is that I really love.

(Door) To lock have key near and press button on handle. To unlock, have key near and touch inside metal part of handle. The door wont lock if the key is inside. It also has a valet when you remove the metal standard key from the fob.

(Engine) to start car, have key inside car and press button while holding brake down. To turn off put in park and press button. To turn on power (but not start engine) do same minus brake. A light on button shows what will happen via color. Green will start, orange will turn on power.

Did you get the So Cal price sheet? Get the maintenace prices from your dealer (IA) in writing before you buy. Including brake service and tires. Make sure they don't lie to you. I am not the only one I have found that several Lexus dealers have mislead. I am here to help consumers not get the shaft like I and the others I've spoken to got raw deals.

Make them put the everything for the next 100k including prices in writing. I know that it may seem that I am going on about it, but the VP of Opers for the Western region lied in front of me to NCDS (the dispute arbit.) that to me was jolting.

    Please be careful.
  • kcleukkcleuk Member Posts: 45
I've asked them before, and the every 5k miles is about $150......and the major one is 30k miles..which is a few hundred bucks....

i've seen the maintenance guide on Edmunds and nothing is like what u said. So, I dont understand why you get charge few hundred bucks for maintenance service each time.

UPDATE: I called to ask about 5000 miles service, which is Oil change...and tire rotation....$85
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
That certainly sounds and looks more normal.

Each dealer (not only Lexus) usually recommends their own items (sometimes very pushy too), in addition to the items on the mfg maintenance schedule. You are not required to follow the dealers schedule, only the mfg one to adhere to warranty.

You can always do your scheduled maintenance a-la-carte to get the exact items prescribed by the mfg schedule. If that dealer won't do it, then take your business elsewhere.

I think what dontbuylexus has encountered is a dealer that strongly pushes their own maintenance schedule, and a very pricey one at that.

    -Brian
  • kcleukkcleuk Member Posts: 45
Yea, I agree with you. it seems like dontbuylexus got a horrible dealer to deal with.

I've asked a few dealers about maintenance and they tell me it's somewhere in the $100 for maintenance. Only major ones cause maybe few hundred bucks which is pretty much the 30k miles.

I've tried considering an Acura TL, and it might be slighty cheaper than the lexus, but somehow I just don't like the TL. I've seen other cars and I still like the Lexus better.

I been quoted $32,746 + TTL so far and that's the best I can get in the Midwest region. It's an IS250 AWD without Navi.
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
That must be about $500 over invoice, which appears to be decent for the Midwest.

I'm waiting to see what info comes out on the '08's. Personally, I'll probably go with a 250 automatic RWD w/ the luxury pkg and get snow tires.

    -Brian
  • kcleukkcleuk Member Posts: 45
That's actually about $1,500 above invoice. I've called so many dealers and they are pretty much closely priced.

My friend's bf have a BMW 3 series (RWD) and they live in CT. My friend told me that it was like a fish in the water when they drove the car.

The 2008's info are out. The different is mainly:

    a) adding a coin box
    b) illuminated scuff plate
    c) backlighting for the power mirror control

The price os the IS250's went up by 200...except AWD down by 200.

Right now, my IS250 AWD is offered $3,000 below MSRP. I am tempted to wait for 2-3 months for the 2008 but at the same time I don't think they will give me that amount off MSRP.

Also, by then, my current car wont be worth as much to trade.

    Any advice/comments?
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
My bad, I was including the HID's in your example. About $3k off MSRP seems to be inline with what Edmunds TMV says too.

    Thanks for the '08 info.

Popularity of the IS seems to be increasing, so prices may not get much better. Not sure how many '07's are left on the lots either. Seems that if you can find the one that you want, you should grab it.

I just received my first Bay Area quote for a 2007 IS250 RWD auto with Nav. This seems close to what people were getting out the door without tax. Has anyone had better OTD prices? Is 32k OTD too optimistic?

Dealer quotes invoice is 33354.I can sell car for 32500 plus tax.

The title and topic of this discussion is Prices Paid & Buying Experiences - therefore it is about the singular "event" of buying - price, experience at the dealership.

If anyone wishes to discuss ongoing maintenance costs please see the new discussion we have created for this at Lexus IS 250 350 Maintenance Costs

Thanks for helping keeping things on topic!
  • dontbuylexusdontbuylexus Member Posts: 41
Although I agree that maintenance items such as part number 1234 has changed the 1235 and this certain aftermarket part is better then the OEM should be under the maintenance forums in order to stay on topic, but the amount of continuing residual cost is part of the buying experience. If Lexus lied about the true cost as part of the sale, then that would constitue a bad buying experience and therefore warrents further explanation on what was lied about during that purchase. I will restrict it to what was lied about and what was the result of that lie.

    Thank you
  • dontbuylexusdontbuylexus Member Posts: 41
My buying experience consisted of being lied to by the dealer and the finance manager. They mislead me on the service costs, the brake rotor life, the radio quality, a tire warranty scam, and the quality of service I would be getting. All of these lies where revealed later when the dealer was rude and didn't offer to fix the situation, they only offered to buy the car back at an additional profit. Truly shady. Furthermore, Lexus Corporate would not do anything to fix this nightmare of my purchase, After going to NCDS and having them lie to the board in front of me, I am still stuck with this bad quality car from a devious auto maker. If I would do it all over again I would have bought a BMW or a Honda.
  • SylviaSylvia Member Posts: 1,636
Fantastic. You have made your point many times and now it is for others to talk about the prices they have been quoted and how the dealer treated them. The best place to reiterated your issues with Lexus so that people researching if it is the right vehicle for them is in the discussion created about maintenance costs.

First of all I wish there were separate forums for the IS 250 and IS 350 because it seems like its a big jumbled mess in here.

Second, can you good folks tell me if this is a good deal?

    I was offered $37,500 + TTL (w/ no additional dealer/doc fees) for a 2007 IS 350 w/ Navigation/Premium Package in Obsidian.

    Thanks.

    Hey,

I am thinking of buying the IS 250 RWD w/ auto transmisson + Luxury Package. I live in the SF Bay Area and was wondering if anyone made a recent purchase here. If yes, what kind of price you are getting & which dealer?

Also, the Nav and ML stereo package cost $3990. This is about $500 more than separate pricing is Nav $2550, ML $940, Why the difference?

    Thanks, Vidur
