    Hi there,

Do the same numbers apply for the San Francisco area I assume?

52% is a low residual, but I suppose the extremely low money factor makes up for it. Is it true that lower residuals are better if you plan on buying out the car at the end of the lease, because most of your payment is going to the principal and not money factor/interest?

    Thanks in advance!

The 2018 Mazda numbers are national.

If your intention is to keep the car past the lease term, you're better off buying it up front rather than lease. You'll skip the fees associated with a lease (acquisition fee, buyout fee). At lease end, you'll have to finance a used car, with used car interest rates.

  • I see the numbers you posted for NJ about 10 days ago. I see lease cash for $1490. My question is, what about loyalty at $750 (I am a current Mazda leaser) and bonus cash for $500? Are these available in addition to the $1490. How do I determine the total of all incentives since the list is a bit confusing and many are duplicates?

We don't have information on those rebates.
Some incentives are only for purchase, but you'll have to check with a dealer to find out.

Greetings, Here is the deal I’m getting on a 2018 Mazda3 Hatchback Grand Touring in Northern California. Lease is for 36/12, residual value is 52%, there is a 200.00 charge to bring the car from another dealer about 55miles away. The lease includes $1490.00 Mazda lease credit which covers all fees / registration / taxes in California and the first monthly payment. MSRP is $26,120.00 (GT HB red), gross capitalization (includes 595.00 acquisition fee, and the $200.00 mentioned above) is 24,842.00. Monthly payment, before tax is $326.02. Monthly payment including 9.25% CA tax is $356.18. No money down. Are you also getting a MF of 0.00081? Do you see any room for improvement? Any recommendations?

If your money factor is indeed .00081, that is adding $30/mo, pre-tax to your payment.

The MF is not listed, do the numbers indicate it is 0.0000081 as opposed to the 0.0000100 set for January? I’ll try out a few lease calculators to check which one it is. Essentially is we normalize am I getting 81 as opposed to 100 or am I getting 810 versus 100?

Your numbers would indicate .00081, but the maximum markup to the base money factor is .00050, so that can't be correct.
Ask for the actual adjusted CAP cost, and see how it compares with what you've been given, so far.
The base MF is .00001, and you should insist on that.

One more detail, there is a 625.24 Capitalization cost reduction from the 24,842.90 gross capitalization cost. Do you see room for improvement or any problems with the 36/12 2018 GT lease offer?
The base MF is .00001. If your money factor is indeed .00081, that is adding $30/mo, pre-tax to your payment. Do they give you that money factor, or are you assuming
Thank you. I’ll get the actual MF used. Re-running the calculations in excel I see that the MF used is indeed 0.00081 which is excessive. As you stated Mazda’s January MF is 0.00001. Adjusted cap cost is 24,216.76. Back to the dealer to insist on the 0.00001 MF.

Politely tell them you won't sign a deal unless they use the base MF - don't try to negotiate it.

Okay, the dealer was very accommodating and dropped the markup on the MF, it is 0.00001 now, we still apply the 1490.00 lease credit and get a residual value of 52% for a 2018 Mazda3 Hatchback GT lease of 36/12. Thank you so much for your help and review of the lease details.
