Of course they do. My bet is that they tell all their lower level employees to "just say no" to whatever comes up, and then let the supervisor make the call.
"The keypad is a great feature! You can throw your keys under the mat and then get into the car with the keypad. You can also NEVER get locked out (provided you know the code). There is a hard-coded number programmed with the car and then you can program a second code so you can change it at will."
Regarding the previous inquiry re: an ignore feature, the forums software is third-party, so we went with what we thought had the best overall features and usability. If we wanted an ignore feature, that would entail changing software... and those of you who were around in 2001 for the last change do NOT want to go through THAT again!

My lord, all this commotion over a $12.50 watch. Anyone who would let such a trivial matter cause so much consternation must have serious issues just getting through the day. I would be pleased I got $7.50 if I didn't have a receipt. Suggesting this matter would go to court is about the silliest thing I have read on these forums in a long, long time and about sums up the personality of Andres3.

The Edmunds forums are pretty stripped down IMHO. No private messaging, and no picture hosting. Having said that, I am here more than any other forum I am a member of.
Yeah, there are definitely some features we would ALL like to have, and I'd say those two are up near the top. Not sure if either of those two could be added with the current software, but if not, as I said before... it probably wouldn't be worth the aggravation of a software switch. There are members who are STILL upset at having lost their seniority... TEN years ago!

I was able to get a receipt from the past month at WALMART. I gave them the UPC for the headphones which broke easily at a plastic joint. The company will replace them IF I have a receipt to prove warranty.
Now I do. Gotta love Walmart's computer tech despite all their damage to the US economy.

Well, yes. We are still upset. It's only been 10 years and lost at $2.50 in value. I think those factors merit kvetching until at least 25 years have passed. :P

Agreed, keypad is worthwhile. Just knowing that you can
open the car door anytime, keys or not is comforting.
Another use is if there are multiple people, but only one key. When my wife and I go skiing/beach/etc., we might get separated. If our car had a keypad, she could still get in to change/get food even if I'm not there.
I took my wife's BMW in for some service work. Tires make a buzzing sound and the mirrors have a mind of their own...keep adjusting. Then they tell me there are some recalls that have to be done. One is a big job, could take another day...fuel injectors.
The 4 year warranty is up on October 10 and we will be away for most of September, so I said can I bring it in after the 10th of October? They said all the work had to be done by the deadline of I would have to pay for it.
The thing is, I wouldn't even have known about these recalls except the tires were making this noise. Does that seem right?
Then a lady at work said her son took his Focus in just before the warranty was up. It needed a part which they didn't have. They ordered the part, but someone else needed the part and they sold the part to another customer. By then they couldn't order a part for him that would get to the dealer before his warranty would expire....and they told him he would have to pay for the part if he wanted them to install it.
At the time I was comparing LCD TVs. You could buy what looked like the same item from Amazon and several other retailers for, say, $750. Wal Mart had what looked to be the same thing at the same price. A closer look revealed that the Wal Mart set was decontented.
I hate that too. Most every electronics company and retailer have colluded to make that happen on most every electronics item (let alone other products). As soon as price matching became popular and common in stores they made it darn near impossible to price match or compare anything. Every company has numerous model lines that only differ slightly in content and quality from one to another. There is the "Costco" model line, the "Walmart" model line, the "Crutchfield" model line, and you can't comparison shop any of them on price. Even within one store like Crutchfield, I think you have like 10 different lines of LCD TV's in any one size from any one brand they carry.
I think it should be more like cars, you have the baseline, the midline, and the highline. Honda did this system well with DX, LX, EX.
Speaking of price matches, and price correction, every retailer should have this for a minimum of 30 days.
P.S. If your return policy is longer than 30 days than you should include price matches (at least for your own prices; better yet, for any competitors too) up to however long the return period is. Target makes you return a product and rebuy it at the lower price, rather than just making it easy and price matching their new sales price. Inherently, if you accept returns, you must also accept price matches to your own prices! why did I include Target again?

But give us our free social security and medicare even though we don't buy US products by US workers," they demand. Hmmmmm.
Now now, my father receives social security recently, and as he told me, there was nothing free about it. He paid social security and medicare taxes most all of his working life, and the gov't made a contract/promise to give something back in return in retirement.
Now if the Gov't had said back whenever SS started that you can only buy US products made/built in the USA with your SS money, I have a feeling people would have revolted against that taxation, and simply not agreed to the program in the first place.
I do think old folks are getting a lot more than they put in, however, depending on how you look at it.

respect for their numbers. Ever heard "then sell it to Edmunds"?
I like Edmunds, and think the numbers they provide are about as good and accurate as anyone else out there. However, that leaves a ton of room for improvement.
I think 112,000 miles on a domestic is considered all of its useful life. 112,000 miles on a Honda and it's just barely broken in. You can thank planned obsolesence engineering from the Big 3 for that.
I could see myself telling a "seller" Sell it to Edmunds then! or sell it to KBB then! I've never been told that, but I was told when mentioning Carsdirect.com pricing "and what cars do they have to sell?" The question was meant to show that the website is listing prices on products they don't have, don't carry, and don't stock. So they are fantasy prices from one viewpoint.

> this old folk has nothing but American iron in his driveway.
A large part of the old folks from THIS area to whom I refer are ex-UAW or IEU or other auto business supplier retirees. Others are military retirees from WPAFB's huge contingent of civilian employees. They are driving around in their foreign brands wondering about the future of our Soc SEc payments!
One guy even had an American flag stuck on the side of his Altima or Maxima for a few weeks. I dunno if it was assembled in a plant here so he thought that counted, but the US flag probably fell off from lack of magnetism.
I like them quite a bit. Did you ever go to the O when you were at CMU?
I sure did and I went to the original Original in East Liberty when I was a kid in grade school when I lived in the city about 6 blocks from that place. It was known as Station Street because it was on that street, just across from the library (I didn't go there ). The guy that started the O in Oakland worked at the one in East Liberty and I knew him since he was a counter guy then.
Don't ask me how he could take the name and start up an unrelated store. It had to be because Jerry, the owner of the one in East Liberty, didn't copyright the name. The one in East liberty closed up long ago. The one in Oakand near Pitt is license to make money.
As you know, their fries are unbeatable. The one in East Liberty didn't push the fries like the one in Oakland.

First of all I would wonder how you got the surveillance tapes. Secondly I would not think that the tapes would have enough detail to see exactly what transpired.
Maybe I'd subpoenaed (Subpoenaed - that's how Microsoft Word says it's spelled; looks weird to me) them in the discovery process pre-trial!
I'd agree in the 90's probably not enough detail without sophisticated video processing. Today's HD cameras would easily get enough detail.
Can't say as I am not that up on that part of the law. However I think the odds are yes since the company is following written policy.
Now that's just foolish. If I prove I handed over $12.50, then the judge would award me $12.50 when I give the watch back. Unless Rite Aid can prove they posted a written and transmitted policy on the receipt that says they have some sort of restocking or return/refund fee, they are not entitled to make $5 off of nothing. The company policy on a receiptless return is irrelevant. The receipt existed, and what was written on it is still valid even if it is destroyed or missing. Now if Rite Aid's position was I didn't buy the watch from them at all, or no receipt was ever printed, then they might have a case. However, the video tapes would folly that defense.

Now now, you must blame Driver100 for the consternation, as he's the one that asked and brought up Rite Aid specifically from my "blacklist", as it was 9th/last on my list. I think I regret mentioning it now, as I think it was the LAST one I remembered on my black list. I barely remembered to list them.
That being said, if Rite Aid will rip you off for $5, what will stop them from ripping you off for $500.
I've actually avoided small claims court in my lifetime (never gone yet), but there is probably 2 situations where I most definitely should have (rather than be lazy), both involving landlords of apartments and lack of return on deposits upon moving out. Seems to be the standard MO of landlords to steal deposits for BS reasons.

What would be the dealer's reaction? I gotta hear this!
in CA the auto purchase contract states in big bold RED letters "NO COOLING OFF PERIOD" and goes on to explain that you don't have a return period to try out the car and see if you like it. The contract is final and no returns; though there is one clause where the dealer can void the contract within 5 days if they don't like the financing they get for you, and ask for the car back (I don't like that clause at all; felt like striking it through).
I don't think there is anything in the world you can buy that doesn't have a "cooling off period" besides cars and real estate. Even my timeshare had a 5 day cooling off period, though the sneaky salesman failed to disclose that part verbally! (and they were supposed to by law!). Don't get me started on time shares, that whole industry needs to be shut down immediately.
Now back to your question. I think the dealer would say:
Okay, we can write up a new contract for you at $100 more than the one you don't want anymore! I've heard about the "you don't own it till you drive off the lot" thing before. But one salesman told me a lady once wrecked her brand new car driving it from the detailed and complete turnover/handover spot to the new owner by driving off a 2' high retaining wall edge on her way out of the parking lot. She hadn't left the parking lot yet, so maybe she should have asked for "another one!" She should have said she didn't want to buy damaged goods!!! hahaha. Of course, she'd still have to pay for the damages.

Well between us they could sell two. I wonder how many guys feel pressured into a manual tranny sports car because it's considered the "manly" thing to do only to find themselves stuck in traffic wishing for an A/T?.
Back to your Escape, why don't you ask over on the Real World Trade-In board to see what dealers are paying at auction for cars like yours. Maybe after Fezo and the other kids go to bed you can actually get an answer. :P

By then they couldn't order a part for him that would get to the dealer before his warranty would expire....and they told him he would have to pay for the part if he wanted them to install it.
Man, that sounds like typical Big 3 BS. Another reason I'll continue to stay away. I'm surprised BMW warned you sternly of the timeline warranty expiration date. However, it isn't the customer's fault if the dealer fails to stock replacement parts. I think if you report a warranty issue before the warranty expires, they are under 100% obligation to fix it under warranty even if the labor goes past the deadline.

....and a big one, they demand lower prices and more profit margin.
What a diversified forum this place has become. I have a tale about WM too.
About 2 years ago Son #1 started working for a company that is pretty high tech and is considered one of the leaders if not the top dog in their field. They do inventory management and warehouse control, like getting merchandise into and out of distribution centers on time. Stuff like that, can’t tell you more than that.
One day their marketing group was doing a presentation at a large hotel and they had a sign in the lobby outside of the room where the presentation was being given to let their customers, that were invited to this presentation, know where it was being given. A WM vice president that was staying at this hotel stumbled upon this sign and asks at the door if he could listen in because WM wanted to upgrade their system. To make a long story short, WM is now a customer. About 2 years later WM started to throw their weight around and the higher ups at his company went to chit chat with WM. They were getting things worked out but more work had to be done. About 3 days later somebody at WM screwed up the system at one of their distribution centers and couldn’t get it going again. Trucks were going to the wrong stores, the wrong merchandise was on those trucks, trucks were getting backed up, things like that. Now WM is in a panic mode and they knew they messed it up and wanted immediate help. The CEO sent a couple guys down there just as soon as they could get a plane. They showed up in the middle of the night and had things going smoothly again by the time the morning shift showed up. They re-trained the people how to run the system and took certain controls away from them, like they wanted to do initially, but WM insisted on having full control without asking for input on how to make major changes. They made these changes and didn’t bother to run checks to see if it worked. They just blew past that little technicality because when they made minor changes they always worked when they ran the system check. I guess you could say they got complacent.
After the dust cleared, the CEO of my sons company asked one of their VP’s if they still wanted to play hard ball about questioning the cost of the type of service that they provided and other picky type items. Now it was no longer a problem and they are buddies again. GG mentioned how P&G does business with them. Not all companies will cave just to do business with WM. Don’t get me wrong, the company my son works for does not want to lose WM as a customer and will do everything they can to keep them but they aren’t going to kill their company to do it.

I know 2 guys in my neighborhood with fairly new mustang GTs. Think 1 is latest, and other is end of the run of prior model (so 2.5 and .5 years old?). anyway, both read and 1 is a stick and the other (newer one) is an AT.
as to flushing, having just remodelled, the new toilets (Kohler, "pro" quality but not super high end) are incredibly better at flushing than the old builder grade cheapies that were alomst 20 YO. And even all fancy looking in the tank, though now if it breaks I have no clue how to fix it! So hopefully the mechanisms outlast me.
What happens to getting in with the keypad if the battery has discharged, shorted out, etc., and you're punching the buttons to get entry?
You'd be in the same position as if you were using the regular key fob remote.
The door would have to be unlocked with the key (or 'slim jim'), but the alarm wouldn't sound because the battery is flat. Unless you needed to open the vehicle to retrieve something or to shelter from the rain, getting in wouldn't matter too much as you wouldn't be going anywhere anyway; at least not until the tow truck arrived.
You guys are making me fondly my time at Pitt! (Not that it was long ago, I graduated in '09.)
Though I will say, The O at Forbes and South Bouquet in Oakland is a location that I generally reserved for visits to get fries when I had imbibed a bit too much on a weekend evening. Ironically, I've never had a hot dog from there. Only bought beer and fries.

ALL stores do this and as a former Sears manager I can tell you that there are people who make a living by cheating stores out of money.
I'm aware of that now, but isn't that a recent phenomenon? Wasn't as common in the 90's?
They do offer to take it back but since it's on sale they offer to give you that amount back.
You forgot to mention that the so-called sale just started not but a couple of hours ago at most when they opened their doors that same morning.
I feel like I'm a great customer, as I don't mind spending extra money to get higher quality nicer things, when the value is there, I'll buy. I'm also pretty darn loyal to companies that show loyalty back, and also stand behind their product if there's a problem.
Tipton Honda in El Cajon, CA probably likes me. They got a sale in November of 2002 for my 2003 Accord Coupe LX V6, they got another one for a 2005 Civic EX Sedan for my wife, and when it got totalled by some maniac driving a Jetta two years later, we quickly got another 2007 Civic EX Sedan.
Honda's do last forever, which makes repeat customers few and far between if they hold onto them, but sometimes they get lucky and those run forever flawlessly Honda's get totalled by some reckless incompetent on the road.

Go to Craiglist Rants and Raves> Craiglist Rants and Raves and rant away.
You can even curse and post rotten pictures (of the $12.50 watch).
However, I for one would be interested to hear your reaction to this.
You buy a new car, sign all the papers and begin to drive away.
Now everyone here knows the sale is not consummated until the
vehicle crosses the curb. You get two of the four wheels off the lot
then put it in reverse and back up to your spot and say "I changed
my mind" Receipt (bill of sale) in hand you tell the dealer to cancel
the whole deal. What would be the dealer's reaction? I gotta hear this!

What happens to getting in with the keypad if the battery has discharged, shorted out, etc., and you're punching the buttons to get entry?
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I sure did and I went to the original Original in East Liberty when I was a kid in grade school when I lived in the city about 6 blocks from that place. It was known as Station Street because it was on that street, just across from the library (I didn't go there
Don't ask me how he could take the name and start up an unrelated store. It had to be because Jerry, the owner of the one in East Liberty, didn't copyright the name. The one in East liberty closed up long ago. The one in Oakand near Pitt is license to make money.
As you know, their fries are unbeatable.

Seems to be the standard MO of landlords to steal deposits for BS reasons.
in CA the auto purchase contract states in big bold RED letters "NO COOLING OFF PERIOD" and goes on to explain that you don't have a return period to try out the car and see if you like it.
She hadn't left the parking lot yet, so maybe she should have asked for "another one!"

Wow, a quick jab at our forum comedian. Duck, Fezo.
I'm already driving a soccer mom Escape so the transition
to an A/T V8 Mustang (girlie car) shouldn't get much attention.

as to flushing, having just remodelled, the new toilets (Kohler, "pro" quality but not super high end) are incredibly better at flushing than the old builder grade cheapies that were alomst 20 YO. And even all fancy looking in the tank, though now if it breaks I have no clue how to fix it! So hopefully the mechanisms outlast me.

Seriously, anyone who files a stupid, frivolous lawsuit and loses, should have to pay the defense costs of the defendant. That is a no brainer.

I'm not through them yet but I see you are still the "victim"
I agree with the person who thinks you would be a customer from hell.
You buy a watch. You decide for some reason that you don't like it. You lose your receipt and you expect the store to take it back.
They do offer to take it back but since it's on sale they offer to give you that amount back.
ALL stores do this and as a former Sears manager I can tell you that there are people who make a living by cheating stores out of money.
" Screwed over" ? Really?
I would hate to go through life as you seem to do!

Though I will say, The O at Forbes and South Bouquet in Oakland is a location that I generally reserved for visits to get fries when I had imbibed a bit too much on a weekend evening. Ironically, I've never had a hot dog from there. Only bought beer and fries.
LOL! That is the funniest thing I've read all week!

Same thing as getting ready to hit button on the remote and you get hit by lightning - nothing.
And about as likely. :P
